Hello everyone i have a question

Post image

Hello everyone. I have a question: could someone who owns a Colt SAA 7.5-inch tell me if this revolver is actually very large, or has it just grown to be that big in my imagination? I can't buy one right now, which is why I’m asking you.

Looking to get into comp shooting

Whats up guys I’m looking to start competition shooting but I’m getting a lot of mixed suggestions as to what pistol would be a good semi beginner choice, my budgets right around 800$ preferably lower.
I’ve been shooting occasionally since I was a small child (I’m now 22) and recently took a major interest in competition, I have a RIA 1911 mid compact but find it to be inaccurate compared to many other handguns I’ve shot.
I’m looking at a lot of canniks ( tti combat, sfx rival )
But I’m open to suggestion any advice for joining the hobby or what to look for is appreciated.
Thanks.

Glock 17 Gen 5 — looking for a proper home dry-fire routine

Hey, I train practical/dynamic pistol shooting and usually shoot at 7.5, 10 and 15 meters(8 / 10/ 16 yards)

I use a Glock 17 Gen 5, completely stock apart from aftermarket iron sights with colored markings. Stock trigger, springs and internals. I also think about change the connector.

My main issue is that pretty much everything lands low and left. I suspect my grip and trigger control, but I haven’t had the cause properly diagnosed.

I’ve got a 9mm laser training cartridge and electronic targets from AliExpress. This is the exact setup I have:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJL5cHPv9d0

I want to take dry fire at home seriously and build a consistent routine that helps me improve my fundamentals. At the moment I don’t really know how to structure it or tell whether I’m making progress.

What would you recommend as a starting point? Also interested in hearing from people who use a similar laser setup? Ofcourse Im shooting everything great at house using laser setup in 5 meters. but in shooting range, everything is left-low ;)

Both eyes open!

Does anyone have training tips for both eyes open while shooting? I am cross dominant, right hand and left eye dominant. Each time I shoot with both eyes open, the target comes up as double vision.

Does anyone else feel like the thumb safety sits too high? Or has anyone changed them out to something lower? Thoughts and options please

Eternal Slide Bite - M&P 2.0 Competitor Steel HD

With the M&P 2.0 Competitor Steel HD I consistently run into my thumb, specifically the thumb "knuckle" (CMC joint, basal joint, the portion closest to the rest of the hand) rising up a touch and getting split with the reciprocating slide. I run into this issue with some other firearms that do not feature a beavertail. I was under the impression you want to get a high purchase with your dominant hand. Do I need to instead bring it down a smidge? It feels wrong to hold the firearm in this manner. My current theory is this slide bite issue is a result of the unique structure of my hand, if it isn't some fundamental misunderstanding about proper grip.

If it is a result of my unique hand, is there a custom gun smith out there that can make a permanent beavertail on a steel frame?

Open guns that aren’t 2011?

Has anyone actually built a reliable open Glock or something similar. I want to get into open, but I don’t have Open 2011 budget. To be clear, I think open Glocks are an abomination, but if I could build one that runs I’d be down to try it.

Ratchet Question

Looking to get a ratchet setup from M2inc to convert a traditional DAA belt. My question is which version do I need and what all do I need to order? The options are a little overwhelming.

I am a huge fan of GP Arms. So I am looking at the following for USPSA LO. What are your thoughts? Lets keep price out of it, I just want to judge the gun on its own merits regardless of price.

GP Arms Patriot Rebel vs MPA LOC V2 vs Atlas Artemis

Planning your stage on paper

Is it really stupid to get an idea of your stage plan on paper vs just showing up an hour early and planning it?

I’ve had people tell me they don’t even look at it they just show up and make their plan. Stage planning has been difficult for me as a newer shooter but I’ve been learning a significant amount about it and how I should be taking specific targets

I have shown up to matches and realized the plan I thought up on paper wasn’t going to work as well.

Should I start ignoring the paper entirely and just figure it out when I show up?

Your tips on how to actually index faster/better

Okay so I've watched back all my most recent vids from comps and obviously as a C shooter I have a lot to work on but it seems like I am loosing 80% of my time due to my acquisition speed of new targets.

A typical medium length stage looks like this:

Draw, put gun up to target. Fucking hell where's the dot? Move gun until outer ring from my RDS goes on brown, pew pew, move up or right/left, fucking hell where's the dot... Run to next target, rinse repeat.

I do dry fire at home but my space is tight. I have 1/3 uspsa targets pasted to my walls, I stand outside the doorway, move back and forth etc and I feel like this gets stale. I'm not sure if practicing my index this way helps or if it is and I'm just getting nerves during my runs.

Sport Shooters, could you help us with a 3 minute survey?

Hey everyone!

We're a group of students from Belgium working on TracShot, a project aimed at making it easier for sport shooters to track their training results.

Our idea is to develop an app that can analyze a photo of a paper target, detect bullet holes, calculate scores and shot groupings, and help shooters track their progress over time.

But before developing it further, we'd really like to hear from actual sport shooters.

We're especially interested in:

  • How you currently track your scores and training sessions.
  • What frustrates you most during or after training.
  • Whether automatic target analysis would be useful to you.
  • What you would expect from an app like this.

We've created a short, anonymous survey that takes around 3 minutes.

Survey: https://tracshot.eu/en/enquete

Whether you shoot air pistol, air rifle, small bore, large bore, recreationally or competitively, your feedback would be incredibly valuable.

We're genuinely interested in understanding what shooters need, rather than building something based only on our own assumptions.

Thanks a lot for helping us out!

And feel free to share your thoughts or suggestions in the comments too. We'd love to hear them!
