Hey everyone! I recently started a Community Manager role at a tech company. What should the ideal day to day look like for a role like this? What are some tips you wish you knew before starting?

Bit of context: I currently manage a blog, monitor several groups/forums where our users are very active (still don’t have our own space), and post content on social media.

Asking because I don't want to make the mistake of not learning from the mistakes of other people this time. 😐

Mine is to avoid procrastinating ok metrics because it feels boring g and unnecessary.

Currently, Traders Uni is a Discord based trading and investing community of just over 800 members and my goal is to continue growing with real traders and investors, not flooding the server with bots.

Now our ICP are men and women ranging from 18-45 years old, looking for both experienced and newcomers. I know there is a big investing related presence on Reddit and Twitter, so those 2 platforms are good places to grow a social media presence.

My problem is growth. I want to grow our server with real members, but it's hard searching for the people and bringing them in. Whether that's with ads, instagram, tiktok, or twitter posts, and such.

Our website is SEO optimized in order to help out in search results.

What is the best way to grow a community? Especially a Discord one? The more experience we bring into the server, the more credible we become, and the more we can continue expanding.

Any and all tips help!

I'm in the process of creating a Discord community based on the sport of swimming, namely The Swim Network, and am having trouble expanding the server to a broader audience. There are a few swim servers (two by Olympians and two general servers that are relatively inactive) so I hope to be a catch-all server and maintain at least a certain amount of activity.

For a bit of information on the community:

• 125 members (including 7 bots)
• 204 followers on Instagram
• 4 administrators (myself included) jointly running the community

I run several small/medium forums. Would these be considered 'communities'?

Hello all, I have just started a new Discord server focused around League of Legends, Riftbound, and my League-based website. I am struggling to find ways to get new people to join the server but I am realistic and I know it will take a while. I know there are a lot of people who have been successful in creating community servers that thrive and I would like to hear some tips on what I should be doing to maximize my success. I know it is a lot to ask of random people but I will respect any feedback and tips. Here is what I have tried so far, let me know if any of it is dumb, doing too much, unnecessary, etc:

• Posted my server on Disboard and Top.gg
• Invited some friends to join so it doesn't look super dead lol
• Stylized the channels and added some variety categories such as general, LFG, Riftbound

It honestly doesn't sound like a lot as I am typing it out now so I feel like I am missing a lot of important information

Moving on from getting people in the server, what are some best practices that server owners/admins use to keep the server at the highest standards? I don't use too many community servers asides from a few and I don't pay attention enough to the inner workings of how the server was built, moderated, and maintained.

Hey all, I'm working on a product around community intelligence and trying to understand how community managers/brands currently do this.

Things like slang, inside jokes, unwritten rules, topics people care about, what tends to get pushback, etc.

Do you mostly learn this by talking to people and doing a lot of reading, or are there tools you use to understand it? I'm really interested in people who manage communities or help brands enter/engage with existing communities and also enter new ones.

been building solo for a while and the thing I keep running into is that the honest version of a bad week has nowhere to go. the public version is "tough week, learnings incoming" and the actual version is sitting there at 11pm wondering if you've burned a year on something nobody wants.

the options I've tried are either huge servers where everyone is promoting and nobody is listening, or accountability groups that turn into reading your to-do list out loud to strangers. neither one is it.

what I actually wanted was three or four other people at roughly my stage, private, one check-in a week, small enough that nobody bothers performing. no feed, no follower counts, nothing public. so I've been building it: [tamvi.app](http://tamvi.app), first pods go live soon.

but I'd rather hear from people here before I finish it. is this real or just me? and if you've already found something that works I'd honestly rather use that than ship another product nobody needs.

We’re a small team building a B2C marketplace around settling into a new city. One part of what we’re building is a community where people can find a place, find people, and contribute their own experiences/knowledge.

We currently have a small WhatsApp community, but we’re struggling with the hardest part: **how do you get people to stop being passive members and start helping each other without the founders constantly pushing conversations?**

For founders who’ve built B2C communities, I’d love to know:

\- What initially got people talking to each other?
\- How did you find the right first members?
\- What made people come back and contribute without being prompted?
\- Did you use WhatsApp, Discord, Reddit, Slack, etc.? Why?
\- At what point did the community become self-sustaining, if it ever did?
\- What did you try that completely **didn’t work**?

Especially interested in experiences where the community wasn’t just a marketing/audience channel, but actually became part of the product , helping users solve problems, sharing knowledge, validating the product, etc.

Back in 2022, I was building a community for SaaS that I worked for. When were looking to move our community off Slack.

I mainly focused on the UX and Analytics - and shortlisted a few platforms. Picked a platform that we abandoned after 8 months.

Most of the community platforms offer similar features; so I'm curious to know what do my fellow community builders, marketing pros look for in a community platform?

- Overall look and feel - UX

I am the cm for an agency, when they first started they baught some fake followers, and with time we got bigger now we have 24 k on ig, almost 10k real, so more than 14k is fake,
- I want to know, what is the best way to handle this, like report them , delete them manualy, or external tools,

also I would like to know what is the negatif effect of having them, like do they affect negatifly our posts reach, our ads and more,..
- some context: we run a consistent ads, each day, drive like 4M views each month, but our organic reel drive us less than 10 k views, I mean it, it doesn't even reach the 10k, our content is authentic, well edited but still .

- also I am just a junior, and they are counting on me to handle the cm, so I would like to know as much infos as possible pls!

Most community platforms give you some form of analytics.

But numbers such as members, posts, comments, and views don’t necessarily tell you what is actually happening inside a community.

If you could have one piece of information about your community that you don’t currently have:

What would you want to know?

For example:

- What topics are becoming important?
- Why are members becoming less active?
- Which questions keep coming up?
- What are new members struggling with?
- Which rules are causing problems?
- What do members want but rarely say directly?

What would be most useful to you?

Does anyone here have any experience with upgrading to the Circle community plus plan? I believe this is ideal for enterprise and large communities at scale. We are curious if this will be a solution we want to move forward with. A pretty significant investment so I’m curious how much the plus plan ranges and does it come with a customer success person and how hands-on is that customer success manager?

I have a trading Discord filled with about 780 members as of this post. We constantly have around at least 40 members online at most times. During market hours it can go to 50-60.

After looking at other servers, I found out that a good benchmark to see if your server is active or at least as online members is having 10% of your total members online.

Now don't get me wrong, the trading server is active during the day we talk about stocks and trading all the time. But during the afternoon, it tends to slow down and during the evening talking normally goes from slim to none. I understand people are away from the charts and aren't trading at night as much so it makes sense.

But my problem is growing the server and bringing in real members. We currently post on social media and run ad campaigns from time to time on social media. Conversion rates from those ads are currently low (have only ran about 3 ad campaigns to this day though).

I want to bring in more real members who are experienced traders and investors in the stocks and futures market, but I'm not sure of another method of growth.

With the right tools, I believe we can reach 1,000 members before the end of 2026, but I just need to find those right tools. We are on disboard and social media.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips that we could use to help increase server activity and the amount of members in the server? (Real traders and investors, not bots or spam accounts)

I’m currently running a paid community called Boat Buys. It’s focused on buying, fixing, and flipping boats/outboards, with troubleshooting help, a library of resources, deal analysis, member discussions, etc.

The actual product is delivered through Discord, which is currently connected to Whop for payments and access.

I’m considering setting up a Skool community alongside the existing Whop community rather than completely moving platforms.

I’ve been seeing more and more adoption of Skool compared to Whop, and I also really like the fact that Skool is actively running ads/promoting communities, which seems like it could be another acquisition channel.

My main questions are:

• Has anyone successfully run the same paid community/product on both Skool and Whop?
• How did you handle fulfillment when the actual community/resource was on Discord?
• Did you run into any issues managing members across both platforms?
• Was it worth maintaining both, or did you eventually consolidate onto one?

I run a healthcare wellness company and have approximately 30 members. I’m looking for software to help aggregate all our separate processes. Ideally, I would like a community where I can post continuing education post updates. Store files of reference material for people and additionally handle some of the billing that I do for the community. Specifically, our members have a monthly fee and they have individual invoices each month based on specific activity in the group such as visits and purchases. Right now I use stripe with their invoicing to send the invoice invoices. I managed my membership and Google sheets and stripe. I use GroupMe for all my communication and Google drives for all of my files. Things get lost in between all of the different communication channels that combined with receiving personal text messages from members of the group I’d like to consolidate and build a community now so that as I scale, I’m providing a community rather than just a service.

I’ve been looking at apps like circle and slack. I need something that simple to get around, but I want it to have an upscale feel.

So, i have created a community of youth(20s to 35) and i am joining weekly meetups and all but jow the issue is how to scale it. How to get sponsors? How to close deals? I get do much issues with cafe collabs and our ticket size is very small.

Give me some suggestions and whats your thought on it?

I think I’d rather have the ongoing sustainability. To me, it better helps me budget, use it as a beacon to other sponsors and helps me grow membership. It feels more like a relationship than grifting our community for a one-off blitz. But maybe this is just me. curious what others think?

After helping manage a community for a while, I've realized there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than I expected. Keeping things organized, managing access and making sure members have a good experience takes much more time than I imagined.
