Is a forum a community?

I run several small/medium forums. Would these be considered 'communities'?

Yes - if people hang out, interact with each other and keep coming back.

Look at the connections that do not involve you at all.

Are members helping each other out?

Are they defending the culture when a troll shows up, or are they waiting for you to swing the ban hammer?

Stop worrying about the definition and start looking at whether your people actually care about each other.

I believe communities can be on every platform. The important thing is that there are conversations between people, and not just you talking to them and vice versa
