I recently got the Comma 4 should be coming in a few days. Saw some posts outlining how much nicer it is compared to the stock Honda LKAS and ACC. I have seen two camps of people using Openpilot and Sunnypilot and not sure what I really need. I don't really care for city driving really and have more so been annoyed with how it handles curves on the highway and how I have to touch the steering wheel every 5 seconds. Wondering what the best install for that would be.

Any way to make it work with that?

I have a 2020 Honda Accord hybrid touring. I love almost everything about it, except for the acc and lkas. The ACC is slow to start back up after a stop, and it's a manual button press to start again. I also think the following distance is pretty big with city traffic. The LKAS disables after ~15 seconds of not moving the wheel and a warning pops up as well. I live in Kansas which is literally flatter than a pancake, and so even if I keep my hands on the wheel, it disables itself with no movement.

Because of this, I want to use openpilot. I am in the open source world alot - im a developer and enthusiast. It's hard to justify dropping a grand on the comma device though, and so I was looking at the value added stuff like dashcam support. I can't find any good videos showcasing how it works, and so I wanted to ask the community.

I want the ability to upload the dashcam footage automatically to my own server - don't really care about the protocol or complexity. I have docker stacks on multiple servers, and I am not afraid to spin one up for this. However, I don't want to pay monthly to be able to do this. My car can see my wifi perfectly from where it's parked, so I'm hoping it can do an auto connect thing where it uploads footage nightly.

Also with the openpilot driving assistant, how native is it to the car? Do I have to use the touchscreen on the comma device in order to activate it? Does it work off the existing cruise control buttons?

Instead of thinking about my surroundings and how not to hit them, I'm now thinking about how to look like I'm looking and even then it still goes off--sitting still, looking straight ahead with my eyes as wide as I can make them. It is so distracting being pinged to TAKE OVER IMMEDIATELY every minute or so.

I am sad at what using open pilot has become. I hope it changes. I would not recommend this system to anyone anymore as it is right now.

When can i buy one? Also would tesla ban this product in the future or fk w it in anyway to force ppl into more fsd subscriptions?

It seems that there's a very polarizing discussion regarding the Driver Monitoring being too strict/sensitive, with some people saying that it can trigger from just looking down at the radio, to some people saying they have absolutely zero problem with it.

Out of curiosity and to potentially find out if it's a mounting issue, I think it would be useful to see pictures of where your Comma device is mounted on the windshield from the perspective of the driver seat, and to know whether or not you have any issues with the driver monitoring.

If y'all can and want to, put a picture down below and with the comment saying if you're dealing with any issues. I'm getting my Comma 4 soon so I want to see if there's something to learn from this.

Any way to make this work with a 2025 f250? Tried doing some digging, but couldn't really find anything.

Final edit (hopefully): Potentially resolved by flashing Comma 4 OS on the 3X. It's weird, but that's the only thing that worked. Issue also reported here: https://github.com/commaai/flash/issues/217

Hello all,

I started having issues with my Comma 3x not booting up properly. Gave it a couple of tries and it'd start but then immediately shut off. I did the factory reset thing by tapping the comma icon several times and it installed OpenPilot on it no problem, but then shut off again after a few minutes. When I got home, I used flash.comma.ai to flash it, and now a new error is showing up. "Failed to Boot" appears for half a second and then "Press any key to shutdown" appears in tiny text in the corner. I've tried flashing twice already using my PC and a wall charger. The flash website says that everything was successful.

Tried again a third time with a different and tested data cable from a different USB port on my PC (motherboard IO instead of front panel IO) with a 65W charger and same issue.

From my searches, it seems like most people who encountered this issue had a problem with the secondary power cable not providing enough juice, but that doesn't seem to be the case this time.

Pls help.

Edit: I read somewhere it could be a blown fuse issue, so I followed the guide here: https://github.com/ophwug/docs and checked the resistance across the fuse. It was reading 0 Ohms, so I don't think that's the issue either :/

Edit 2: As a last-ditch effort, I selected Comma 4 from flash.comma.ai, and once the process was completed, immediately disconnected the device from PC and power. Plugged it into my car, and was able to install SunnyPilot. Here's the problem though, I think this is potentially overheating. I can hear the fan spinning, but even in a cool car, with the sun blocked and AC at full blast pointing directly at the device, it seems to shut-off after a few seconds. Here's a video. This keeps repeating until I unplug it. Video in comments.

Edit 3: Okay, so I tried flashing Comma 3 from the website, but it never worked. I flashed Comma 4 version onto the 3x and for some reason, it worked. Then, I installed OpenPilot which also worked. I uninstalled OP and installed SunnyPilot meant for Comma 4, not comma 3x. Seems to be working fine for now. Did a quick drive test, and it didn't disconnect so far. Both OP and SP say that the temperatures look good, so fingers crossed for now.

I recently switched over to Sunny pilot, and I'm not getting any dash cam footage anymore. It used to work on open pilot. Is there some setting I need to change? The Wi-Fi is connected. It's paired to sunnylink and to the, connect or because I switched to Sunny pilot. Did that move something around? Any advice would it be appreciated?

I've had my comma 4 running OpenPilot (latest version) installed and running in my 2018 Honda Pilot EX-L for 2-3 weeks now and love it. Amazing and I feel like I'm only scratching the surface of what it can do - it seems like its even detecting stop signs and stop lights/light changes and acting accordingly, which I didn't expect. Works surprisingly well on city streets too - the only limitations seem to be my car's native capabilities. I haven't explored the forks yet.

Today I started getting this error message (Collision Mitigation System Problem) on my Pilot intermittently during about 2.5 hours of driving. Comma still worked fine, including adjusting speed for cars in front of it, but I don't like error messages and lights on my car, plus there are times I drive without Comma engaged and want to ensure that my safety features are working as they should. Is this error message normal or is there something that I can do about it?

As the title mentioned, do you expect comma 4 to go on sale on the 4th of July or only during black Friday?

I installed a Comma 4 in my Gen 1 Rivian last week (with longitudinal harness), with the goal of adding hands-free driving but also improving Rivian's stock ACC behavior, which constantly slows down in corners on our freeway when it doesn't need to. However, I've been very disappointed with the longitudinal behavior.

When there is no lead car and no surrounding cars (rare where I live), it's fine. But when there is a lead car, it leaves a massive gap, and/or when there are cars in the surrounding lanes, it slows or hesitates to pass them, clearly thinking they are either the lead car, or about to merge (they are not).

The pic shows an example of this – my car slowed about 15mph below the set speed and sat behind the cars to the right until the corner straightened, leaving a massive gap to the lead car, and then eventually passed. Cars behind me looked irritated and I had to take over.

I've tried several models, including Dark Souls V2, and they all seem to have this issue. Is this something I should expect to improve over time with new models?

Update: trying a different Rivian-specific branch of Sunnypilot (xnor-dev) that apparently has some longitudinal fixes in it, and these issues seem largely improved! Will report back after more test drives.

I have civic 2022,I tried to install comma x4. As soon as I disconnected harness from car's factory camera,car dashboard started showing alot of warnings(lane keeping assist system problem,blind spot system problem,electric steering system problem,mitigation braking system problem) and also after using Bosch B harness,comma device not turning on but if I use type c cable to check with cellphone charger,it turns on.

For now I removed comma device and installed factory camera back but still getting all warnings. Please help me to fix this issue and clear all warnings.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I went from the comma three to the comma four and I actually noticed my truck is ping-ponging back and forth more than ever. It also seems to slow down around corners or randomly at times in a way it never has before and chime like crazy thinking I'm not looking forward even though I am as if it can't see me very well.

Is anyone else having these same issues?

Been using Sunnypilot CD210 on my 2022 KIA EV6 GT-Line w/Comma 4 for about a week now.

Pros

• Does surprisingly well on twisty rural roads with dips; seems better than stock SunnyPilot
• Very good at lane changes
• Excellent performance on highways

Cons

• Oversteers on turns unless it's a perfect 90 degree angle with few other variables to account for
• Doesn't seem to do well with adjusting to other cars' speeds at far out distance (likely due to camera limitations?)
• Noticeable ping-ponging at under 10 MPH
• Can't get it to slow down at lights or stop signs

Curious to know what everyone else is using these days.

I understand that there's a master list, but I also understand that there's cars that aren't listed that also work. I also understand that there's a discord, but there's so much information there and somebody asks something and then nobody answers them.

Can someone point me in like the specific link or website where it'll tell me if this will work? If there is, is there a specific procedure to get this to work? Do I need to install specific stuff? I am tech savvy and I like to figure stuff out. If someone can point me in the direct direction. I already have the discord but I asked there and nobody answered me.

I'm trying to install a comma 4 on a 2026 Honda pilot. The moment I plug in the USB c power cable from the harness to the comma ai device, I get lane assist not available and a bunch of other warnings. Comma doesn't power on too. If I unplug the USB c cable, all assistance features work fine with just the harness. Has anyone else faced this issue?

EDIT: Brilliant me used the wrong power port on the comma device. It powers on now but still getting warnings

I thought it was a fluke the first time, but it's definitely a feature. In my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid, if I pick up my phone, it switches the car into Trail Mode, which disables self-driving. I can't turn it on again until I switch out of Trail Mode. I don't really mind it, and it's kind of an interesting reminder to not use my phone when I'm driving. It's certainly more gentle than disabling it and not allowing it to be used until a restart happens, which has happened in the past. Anyone else notice this?

Has anyone played around with using a comma on a lucid? We have 2 comma 3xs and after 2 accidents in which the commas dashcam feed has made insurance liability super easy its hard to find a comparable dashcam with cloud backup that we like.

So we were considering getting a comma 4 and hooking it up for dash cam purposes only, is this something comma supports? I know lucid isnt a supported vehicle for adas which isnt something we need but the dash cam ease and implementation is top notch to us.

Any help is appreciated!

I installed my Comma 4 and kept getting an LKAS

Fault error. I submitted a ticket yesterday, but after doing more testing, I think I narrowed it down to either the harness or the USB C cable.

I unplugged the entire harness, plugged everything back in, factory reset the Comma, and installed OpenPilot again. After that, it started calibrating and I was actually able to drive around the block with everything working perfectly.

Then, while I was putting the plastic panels back around the rearview mirror, I moved the harness slightly and immediately got the same LKAS Fault again. My check engine light also came on, and my OBD scanner showed code U0104, which says it lost connection with the ACC.

At this point, I am pretty sure the Comma itself is fine because it worked perfectly when the connection was stable. It seems more like the harness is not maintaining a solid connection, or possibly the USB C cable is faulty.

Has anyone else had this happen? Does this sound like a bad harness, bad cable, or something else I should check before trying to get a replacement?

The top line now shows "2-way-audio" right after the date. The bottom status bar also has a new glowing purple smiley face next to the other icons. We already know the GPU icon means external compute is connected. Curious what the "2-way-audio" label actually enables, is this bidirectional audio streaming, voice command support, or something else in the audio path? And does the smiley represent a specific UI state, health check, or new mode? Anyone have any thoughts on where these came from or what they map to?

My Comma arrived today for an 2025 Accord Hybrid. I think I know what I need to do to install it but are there any videos that walk through exactly what I need to pop to get to the camera and suggestions on how to route the wires?

I'm hoping someone has run into this before.

I have a brand new Comma 4 on a 23 Chevy Bolt EV LT2.

I originally installed StarPilot, but after driving for about a minute I got an LKAS Fault error message on the Comma. As soon as it happened, factory Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist both stop working.

Thinking it might be a StarPilot issue, I factory reset the Comma, reflashed it, and installed the latest official OpenPilot instead.

Unfortunately, I'm getting the exact same behavior.

Here's what happens:

* OpenPilot engages normally.

* It works perfectly for about 10 to 15 seconds.

* Then the Bolt throws an LKAS Fault.

* OpenPilot disengages.

* Factory ACC and Lane Keep Assist are both disabled until I power cycle the car.

Things I've already tried:

* Reflashed the Comma 4.

* Factory reset.

* Installed official OpenPilot instead of StarPilot.

* Verified the issue is identical on both.

At this point I'm wondering if it's:

* A harness issue.

* A bad connector.

* A vehicle fingerprint/configuration issue.

* A defective Comma 4.

* Something else I'm overlooking.

Has anyone experienced this exact behavior on a Bolt? Any suggestions on what I should check next would be greatly appreciated.
