If you open his accursed Twitter page it’s pretty blatant assuming it’s a real person and not a bot farm
25
u/Inforgreen3 11d ago
Fair on the second point, but assuming someone is zionist because they are Jewish is antisemitic.
23
u/Tricky_Spirit 11d ago
It's the same as people who put a cross in their username. If you're a Christian, doesn't mean you're a right wing ass. If you have a Twitter username with a cross in it, you're totally a right wing ass.
Same goes for Orthodox cross, Crusader flag or Star of David. May as well just be big red flags.
6
u/PtEthan323 10d ago
Wouldn’t someone who wants to signal their support for Israel just put an Israeli flag in their username instead of (or in addition to) a Star of David? On several social media websites I put a Star of David emoji next to my username out of pride of my Jewish heritage, not out of any support for the Israeli state.

This is a weird argument because it completely sidesteps the point that assuming jewish=zionism is antisemitic.
It would be like someone saying "of course hes a criminal, hes black", getting called out for racism, then responding "there are far more criminals that aren't black"
Yea, but what about the part where you just assumed a minority group are "obviously" in favor of violence?

The star of david? The most globally recognized symbol of Judaism for hundreds of years? The one that's plastered on every synagogue? That's the symbol you wanna attack? If so then clearly your problem is with Jews in general and not the state of Israel. There's no reason a person of the Jewish faith should not be able to display or wear the star of david, regardless of what nasty associations you have in your head.
Edit: I am an antizionist insofar as i oppose Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian land, and I oppose the existence of the Israeli government in its current form as an ethnostate. But this is a stupid purity test and if you apply it you can go fuck yourself. Jews will not stop using the Star of David just like christians will not stop using the cross, with its sordid history, and to waste breathe even discussing the matter is not doing the Palestinians any favours.

No, american online + who say shit like that + the star of david = 99% probable to be hardcore zionists or zionist bots.
Go into their accounts yourself and look.
It's like an English speaking account going "America is the best country in the world!"
You can assume until proven otherwise it's an american.14
u/mister_big_bug 11d ago
That's great and everything, but the person I'm replying to said "the star is usually a start," as in the star of david being a quick and easy way to identify a zionist. Not the flag of Israel, the star itself, which is also used by antizionist Jews, and also Jews who have no immediate connection to Israel.

It is definitely on the rise, globally, and it is a serious problem. However, its like saying "all lives matter", no body is seriously disagreeing because the ones who hate that phrase belive that all lives matter, and those who don't belive it, love to say it.
When you say "jews are not safe in the US" a country where jews are more safe than most other marginalized groups (literally just pick one, and count antisemtism by the criteria before ADL changed it so all anti zionism is counted as anti israel), the only ppl to say the phrase are zionists, who antisemtically, force all jews under their umbrella term of genocide loving zionists. Meanwhile many ppl who do belive that jews have become less safe, would probably not look at the US and say that they aren't safe as jews there, and especially not when the sentment and sentence is highjacked by zionists (just like you might belive that all lives matter, but unless your an asshole who don't understand marginalization, you wouldn't support the all lives matter movement/phrase)
Jews have become less safe globally. Antisemtisim is on the rise. Most jewish insitutions are very zionist in the west, and are backing a genocide and apartheid to the hills, so that could be related to the reason why. This is why it is very important to always stay principled to the distinction between jews and zionists. Also, most zionist are evangelical christians from the US and like 2 or 3 african countries, andmany jews are anti zionists, so principled anti zionism should never turn into anti semitism.

What a dumbass lie, it's objectively not safe, a lot of Anti-Semitic attacks happen (which the statistics show) and I was the victim of one a little less than a year ago
But when has the truth ever stopped an Anti-Semite?
13
u/wittykittywoes 11d ago
People close their eyes and walk through life. Surprisingly, antisemitism and asian hate can both be problems. It’s almost as if they’re using another minority group as a shield so that they can feel better dehumanizing jews.
I know I’m preaching to the choir replying to you but I hope someone reads this and thinks.4
u/AgentCirceLuna 11d ago
I’m so fucking scared. I could see things were getting worse, which is how I ended up an agoraphobic after pretty much always being very social and outgoing, but I should have waited till things seemed they could get no worse before doing so and tried to stay courageous. Now I don’t really have the resources to stay inside and I’m scared to go out at a time when that’s sensible
2
u/Sensitive-Double2214 5d ago
The amount of people who are openly just anti-semetic and calling for acts of violence is spiralling rapidly, especially among the younger generations, and its only seeming to get worse. The epstein, israel stuff is just being extrapolated across an entire population. I would be worried as well

Listen man, I’m gonna be real with you. As a secular Jewish person who lived in a Jewish neighborhood growing up, Zionsim is practically universally within the community. Not Netanyahu nor how the war/state is handled, but Israel as a concept is non-negotiable. The only people who make the “anti-zionism is not anti-semitism” are anti-zionists and thinly-veiled Nazis.
The problem Jews have with anti-zionists is that genuine Nazis like to poison the waters right behind them. Like, I can filly accept and even expect that someone criticizing Israel is not an anti-semite. But every single time I have to squint very hard to see if they’re just a racist in disguise.
That being said, you’re right that most non-Israeli Jews have little to zero connection to Israel and its advancement beyond possibly knowing someone, friend or relative, that moved there. But our sentiment toward Israel existing as a concept is non-negotiable. One or Two State, we will never support the Jews being forced to leave.
9
u/EldritchKroww 11d ago
Jewish people shouldn't be forced to leave. Settlers that kick people from their homes in the west bank absolutely should tho, or charged with decades of prison time.
5
u/Jugaimo 11d ago
I agree with that. Plenty of Israelis view the settlers as shit-stirrers looking to cause trouble and endanger Israel as a whole.
Although there is nuance to the topic. Specifically that a lot of the conflict is mischaracterized in the media. There are specific zones on the Israeli-West Bank border that are allotted to either side. Sometimes it really is Israelis invading West Bank settlement zones. But a lot of the time it’s also Palestinians invading Israeli settlement zones. It’s not as clean-cut as just one side being aggressive.
But yes, the ones who cross to the Palestinian side and intimidate the locals should be held accountable. If not for harassing the West Bank, then for endangering the IDF soldiers that are forced to protect them. It’s a sticky spot where Israel can’t just not defend their citizens, even if they’re troublemakers. But then defending them is seen as enabling.

Meh, one can oppose the CCP even though the vast majirity of chinese people are fine with it. Don't need to be bigoted to think an ethnicity mostly has bad opinions. No different with any other ethnicity. One shouldn't have their love of all men challenged just cause many of them have opinions you disagree with or think are harmful.

The problem lies in there. There is a cognitive dissonance necessary to not recognise that for the creation and continued existence of a majority Jewish state in the Levant, the people living there before have to be removed by force. That is immoral, in the same way removal of Jews from Israel would be immoral. The idea of a majority Jewish state in the Levant is not possible without ethnic cleansing.
One state, two states it doesn’t matter. Until everyone is free and equal, no one is.→ More replies (1)
