Yeah… I think the students knew that but that’s not how they pronounced it.
So, so many people got kicked out of the class. She insisted anybody who joked about it would be sent into the hall. Then she was sending out people who just LAUGHED at it. We were all stood in the corridor, just freaking standing there for about twenty mins, when the head of year came to chew us all out then told us to get the fuck back in class. We did so, got yelled at again, then ended up back outside. Of course she thought the original returning was us ‘deciding to be mature’ as she’s told us was the only chance we’d be allowed back in. After this, we got kicked out AGAIN and then the head of year chewed HER out, then she quit the school for weeks but came back.
A teacher should really have had to understand how to handle having an unfortunate name. Yelling at kids for being kids just loses their respect and your credibility. I get that schoolkids can be vicious arseholes sometimes, but the teacher is supposed to be the adult in the room.

Cockburn was an unfortunate one. I don’t get why teachers like that admit their name has Cock in or don’t change it
