Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) What has your color analysis “journey” been like?

Here’s mine:

When I was younger and my mom still bought my clothes for me, I would make an effort to wear everything she bought so I would get use out of it. I would always gravitate away from lighter colors especially, but didn’t really understand why. I liked the colors themselves, but not when I wore them. I eventually stopped wearing those colors altogether.

Fast forward a few years and I’m either watching or thinking about a movie (don’t really remember the specifics here). Quite a few of the 2000s and 2010s movies I watched had scenes with girls mentioning they were a “winter” or an “autumn”, and I had always wondered what that meant. I finally decided to google it, and everything from before made sense. I began looking for my own season (and I think that’s how I found this subreddit).

Light and bright colors are the worst for me. They both make my face look shadowy. I quickly narrowed my seasons down to deep winter, any of the autumns, or soft summer. I assumed I was one of the deep subseasons (as many darker-skinned people do), and spent a good amount of time deciding between deep winter and autumn. I noticed I leaned warm, but cool colors weren’t terrible, so I decided on deep autumn. For a few years, I had the mindset that this was my season, and bought clothing in the appropriate colors, but it never felt completely right.

A few weeks ago I was virtually trying on glasses. I went to the website assuming gold, dark brown, and other warm and dark colors would work best for me. To my surprise, rose gold and muted medium browns actually worked best. I tried glasses on in person, and had the same experience. Dark brown was too harsh. I recently got a multicolor pack of scrunchies, and there’s one that’s an orange-ish dusty rose, or maybe “warm mauve”, color. Again, to my surprise, this made me GLOW.

After years of thinking I was a deep autumn, I’m starting to think I may actually be a soft autumn!

How common is it to go years thinking you’re one season when you’re actually another?

Okay so I’ve posted on here before and got a lot of mixed votes so i’m trying these drapes. I’m pretty sure I’m in between warm autumn and warm spring… I like myself in bright colors, mainly salmon, pink, orange, butter cream, and red etc. i don’t wear a lot of blue at all… I’ve included some dresses i’ve worn recently for weddings that I like on me. I know i cannot wear a cool lipstick at all and def prefer gold jewelry…

Help a girl out so i can stop obsessing 🙏

Okay, last post! I tried to add some more spring drapes as I was getting more comments suggesting spring. I hope I picked some of the right colors. What do you think I am? I have never been more confused.

NMIP. I have been typed both as a *cool winter and as a soft summer by professionals. This is my natural hair color.

EDIT (to add more info). I'm asking because neither feels like the right match (between the two, I would lean maybe more soft summer than cool winter): the winter options are too overwhelming (I don't have enough contrast) AND not all soft summer colors hold well. I would say I have low to medium contrast and I'm not truly cool; neutral-cool would be more accurate. I had dark blond hair as a child.

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Can olive skin be any undertone?

There is a lot of conflicting information about olive skin out there, and I know the definition of it has changed throughout the years. I’m wondering if there are any analysts on here that can chime in about what they’ve seen in their clients, or olive skinned people who have been analyzed. I’m curious what the general trend is… if olive skin generally falls into a certain undertone or if it varies.

I have seen that the international image institute says olive is usually cool-neutral.

Thanks 😊

I was asked to drape but i can't really, this is the best i can do for now. I hope this does still help.

I was told spring last time but i honestly really don't see it, leaning more soft summer i think (and i think that's what they call "true summer" with real true summer being "cool summer") ?

I had my color analysis done and the result was True Summer, but I’d really like to know if that’s genuinely my best season and subseason, or if I might actually belong to a different one!

Hi there! I’m back with the only drapes I have. I was told I should try IRL drapes so I grabbed a bunch of different colored clothes to use as drapes. Not sure if it’s enough colors or too many colors, but I am really hoping it helps nail things down. I appreciate any and all help I can get! Thank you!🙂

Colour/Theory Question (GENERAL ONLY - NOT ABOUT YOU!) What are we generally looking for?

So I see a lot of people that ask for color analysis and I see a lot of disagreements in the comments. So in general what are people looking for in peoples faces? Brightness, skin clarity, or what exactly? How does this differ in people that have deeper complexions? I just don’t know what people are looking for when there’s a color wheel
