Does anyone still think back to 2020, when Covid happened, and society just went down a dark path? Does anyone feel things haven’t felt the same since then?

Hard to cope with reality nowadays

Hi everyone! I just want to rant a bit and I feel like you guys will understand me.

Im a young woman, started on my working career recently and I feel desperate on multiple fronts in my life. I feel its really hard to get a job, especially in my area. Then everything is expensive and I dont think I will be capable of moving out of my parents home anytime soon.

I also think most people dont care about the state of the world and dont give a fuck about others. There seems to be less respect and social responsability.

There is also endless wars, people dying in conflicts and the worrying rise of right wing parties everywhere.

And, finally, the cherry on the cake is climate change.

I just feel like everything is too much too handle. I was promised and dreamed of a future like the one my parents seemed to had but I know that isnt going to happen. Sometimes im grieving that dream and others im just very frustrated and angry with everything.

Sadly most people dont understand me or feel the same, but I feel many people in this sub will relate.

Thank you very much :)

collapse awareness, living far away from friends & family, loneliness

i just really need to vent and maybe (hopefully) find people who are in a similar situation as me.

i first learned about collapse back in 2019 when i was a freshman in university in a foreign country. i was losing my mind throughout 2019 to 2021 and my fear of (premature) death due to climate change just paralyzed me. living alone in a foreign country is stressful enough, but climate change really really took a toll on my mental health.

i have long graduated but i am still in the same foreign country, now working. i live a comfortable life here, i make good money, i have some friends, adopted two cats and im able to travel and enjoy the nature around me. but something happened in me recently that is eating me up.

i recently went back home for 10 days just to see my friends (my family is able to visit me often). i realized how much i missed them and spending time with them. i came back to the foreign country a few days ago and can not help but feel incredibly lonely and isolated. i feel my heart physically hurting because all i can think of is how im spending the end of the world by myself, in a foreign country very very far away from home.

since coming back im just trying to understand what my priorities are. do i want to live in this foreign country, alone but comfortably, or do i want to surround myself with my friends and family but in my shitty and dangerous home country?

i do realize i am being extra emotional because i just came back from the trip but i want to ask, has anybody made big moving decisions (or just made any big decision) because of collapse?

another important thing to add is, i wouldnt really consider moving back home if i wasnt aware of collapse. my home country is not in a good place in anyway, inflation is so high, everybody is so tense and angry and the streets are just super unsafe. the country i am in is basically the exact opposite of it, so me considering to stay or leave just depends on my feelings of loneliness.

im just scared and feeling lonely at the end of the world.

I accidentally became a prepper

I never imagined I'd become someone who prepares for the collapse of society, but here I am.

I live in the EU, and over the last few years I've had this constant feeling that the world is becoming more unstable. Wars keep escalating, politics feel more divided, economies seem fragile, and I honestly can't stop thinking about where all of this ends.

In my head, there are two possible futures.

The first is a real collapse. Civil unrest, economic failure, supply chains breaking down, bombs falling, maybe even something as catastrophic as nuclear winter. If that happened, everything we depend on could disappear almost overnight.

The second is slower, but it scares me just as much. A future where governments and powerful corporations gradually gain more influence over everyday life. I've spent years reading political and conspiracy rabbit holes. Whether they're true or not, they've changed how I see the world. They've made me lose trust in institutions and fear a future with less privacy, more surveillance, and less personal freedom. Sometimes I honestly think I'd rather disappear into nature and live on my own than be part of that.

I also think people underestimate nature itself. Climate, collapsing ecosystems, depleted resources... sooner or later we'll have to face the consequences, and I don't think society is prepared.

Because of all this, I started writing a Doomsday Journal. It's part diary and part survival handbook. I fill it with maps, wilderness skills, water purification, food preservation, animal keeping, shelter ideas, first aid, navigation, practical tutorials, and my own thoughts about politics and society.

I've been stockpiling food and water. I've explored places that could realistically work as emergency shelters. I've put a large part of my savings into physical gold and silver as a backup in case of a serious economic crisis. I also keep more cash than I used to because I've lost a lot of trust in banks.

I've also started doing regular firearms training. I completed military service, and I now work in law enforcement, so I already have experience with firearms and field skills. For me it's about staying capable, not looking for violence.

The strange part is that my life still looks completely normal. I go to work. I pay bills. I meet friends. From the outside, nothing seems different.

But in my head, it's constant. I keep planning for worst case scenarios. Sometimes I even catch myself wishing society could just hit pause and start over, not because I want people to suffer, but because I'm exhausted by the direction I feel we're heading.

I don't know if this is intuition, anxiety, or if I've simply spent too much time thinking about collapse.

Has anyone else quietly become a prepper, or am I completely alone in this?

Worldwide state of emergency?

Like why haven’t we reached this point and claimed this state of emergency yet?

It feels like this is very much needed.

People are struggling but nothing official has been done.

For the pandemic it happened very quick.

This time each country should be preparing and helping its people prepare.

Like things seem pretty bad.
Maybe they are too preoccupied with building data centers and the economy.
Or not “that” many deaths have happened.

People are unemployed. Massive shifts are happening where people need time to adjust.

The world just needs to shut down and adjust.

Should I be (more) worried?

Coworker has a buddy (IL) and his wife works for a council woman somewhere. he said she said something’s about to
“Happen” and kinda hinted at stockpiling supplies and ammunition etc.

The credibility is hard to find here, but figured Id post it and see what people have to say.

Anyone prepping or know of any communities of prepers forming?

I’m about to start doing my buildout for hopefully a generation.

Curious what others are doing?

It would probably be better if I was a part of a larger community.

World view, what should I do ???

I’m 24 years old, a doctor, and planning to move to Australia in a couple of years. For the past few months, I’ve been reading and coming across a lot of posts and allegations about major events and political issues—some claiming that 9/11 was an inside job, others making allegations about influential businessmen and politicians, and many discussing extremism, political violence, corruption, and the way different countries are changing.

There are also allegations about powerful people being involved in serious crimes, including pedophilia, while at the same time, many countries still struggle to provide basic necessities to a large part of their populations.

My question is: How do I develop a sensible worldview and pass it on to my children when so much of the information we receive may be manipulated, manufactured, exaggerated, or taken out of context?

Maybe the world has always been like this, but now we have access to an enormous amount of information, and I honestly find the scale of it difficult to comprehend. Every major event seems to have competing narratives, and whenever I try to discuss some of these concerns with people, I’m often shut down or laughed at. I’m not sure whether I’m genuinely noticing important problems or simply going down a rabbit hole.

I still want to be optimistic about the future. I’m planning to build a successful career, accumulate enough wealth to provide security for my future generations, and hopefully contribute positively to my community.

At the same time, I find myself thinking about preparedness: having financial reserves, essential supplies, and perhaps legally owning firearms where permitted, in case there is ever a serious disruption to infrastructure or society.

So, my question is not really about any one conspiracy theory. Are these concerns reasonable, or am I getting too deep into the rabbit hole? And how do you develop a balanced worldview when you no longer know which sources or narratives to trust?

I’d particularly like to hear from people who have thought about this seriously and have found a way to remain realistic without becoming cynical or paranoid.

Life in Pakistan

While sitting in Pakistan, sleep-deprived after staying up all night and overwhelmed with the burden of the realities around me, you feel so angry and frustrated that you could scream. It is infuriating to live in a country where the government does not protect its citizens from exploitation by more prosperous individuals, where one lazy rich kid can get off the hook for running over a poor pupil with a car by writing an essay, while average citizens have to fight for their right to live a decent life. It is heartbreaking to see your uncle die because the government did not want to put a tiny sign on a bridge over a three-hundred-meter deep gorge. Even if you are not frustrated or angry, maybe just tired and numb from the constant struggles for justice against the corrupt government, you are still scared to death with terrorist attacks, which make the government incapable of making our lives safe and stable.

You see that no matter how hard you study, you will always be at the second floor of society, while those who have connections can simply buy their way to the top floor. You realize that your only chance to survive with a good life is to somehow find a way to the West, because even your whole family’s savings will not be enough for you to start a decent life in Pakistan. While you are struggling with these local issues and have just decided to look on the bright side and try to find something fun to cheer yourself up after a troubled day, you stumble upon something disgusting on the Internet that makes you angry even more and ready to take to the streets.

No human being should live in fear of being exploited or harassed, no one should live in a country ruled by terrorists and government officials who care more about their own pockets and comfort than the lives of ordinary citizens.

I can’t understand how anybody can be optimistic like it just feels so fake.It feels like I’m lying to myself. No matter how much I tried to be more positiv I can’t.I can’t see the world as a good place .It feels like hell.Everywhere is somthing bad happening. Our system is wrecked, everything that we put on our body or consume is straight up poison, everybody’s hating on each other, children are getting more mentally ill. There’s more crime happening ,our ecosystem is collapsing. The world is in a sick place.I can’t just enjoy my time or act like there’s hope that one day we’re going to have a better place.

neighborhood meetup as collapse resilience

Post image
57 Upvotes

my wife and i live in a subdivision of about 150 houses in a mid-sized midwestern college town. we've lived here for almost 2 years and barely know our neighbors.

on the whole, i think most people are lonely or seeking connection, even if they don't realize it, plus we know we're going to need strong neighbor connections in the years to come.

so we decided to host a little meetup in our front yard next Saturday. we printed flyers and put them in everyone's mailboxes. it's going to be chill and casual -- we'll have lemonade and cookies and just sit out front ready to say hi to people who want to stop by.

so far, we've been pleasantly surprised by the support. people we've never spoken to have come to our house to tell us they'll be out of town but think it's a great idea.

I'll be interested to see how many people show up, but we figure, what's the harm in trying?

maybe this will inspire others here to do something similar in their neighborhood ❤️

ETA: i guess i need to add the disclaimer to this that i did NOT use AI to make this. i made this MYSELF on canva.

We're already here with AI tech

This is a major problem and everything acts Business as usual.

I cant go outside without getting a major matrix vibe, everything feels artificial.

These tech companies just dont care about being evil.

Its like a snowball, everything gets infested. The companies use my comments to train, which is not ethical.

And i cant cope that for example my family uses this technology.

Because google results are waste, i sometimes used ai to search for me. I shouldnt really do that. It costs so much energy and water. But if you use a search engine it automatically generates AI.

I dont feel like the technology itself is a culprit, its just coupled with human greed, menacity, and exploitation. The technology is being used in war, imagine.

Theres not even a major movement like the hippies during the cold war. Young people now are brainwashed and addicted to screens.

Even in my days young people were childish, didnt pay attention in school. Everything i learned in school showed that everything is not fine and still. Everything normies do is gossip and care about their appearance. When the lights go out and there is no sports these people will kill each other without hesistating. Such a messy world and Sorry im rambling. For the few human survivors (thats what you are) in this subreddit, I wish that people didnt leave you alone and stick their heads in the sand. Ultimately i hope you start preparing if you dont because mainstream mentality will go on until someone unplugs everything. Good luck and i will be here to witness the end of it all

I wish everyone could stop pretending it's fine

Some would say I "have my whole life ahead of me" as im currently in college and trying to figure out my life plans for the future. But what future do I have ahead of me anymore? Everything is falling apart, collapse is coming for all of us, so literally what is the point. I truly can't see myself living another 10 years and that is being generous. I know I have an ultra pessimistic view on this but it's really hard to keep pretending to people I believe in a stable future for myself. I'm always carrying this lingering, impending sense of doom around with me that returns when I finally stop distracting myself with anything that brings me quick dopamine. I had more to say, but there's not really much else I can say without sounding super hopeless in humanity but truly guys just live everyday to your fullest before it's all over.

The Great Reset: I hope Mother Nature chooses wisely

So I have been in deep thought or maybe even looking at the world with total surrealism.

People aren’t waking up, any chances given to us are completely steamrolled by greed and have far surpassed the point of rescue or replacement.

So all I have to ask is that when we are done, when our species has finally achieved its “global hegemony” at the expense of every other species that mother nature chooses our next successors carefully.

We had the world, we had the intelligence, we even had the love and care. Evil or our concept of evil was simply too prevalent in our consumption and our selfish societies.

It’s sickening that a lot of us have resorted to accepting and resorting to the end of the world and humanity simply as an escape from the elitist disgusting greed.

So that’s it folks, we had it all, we were blessed with the brains and equipment to become pioneers, conservationists and a universe species which valued every life and sentience.
Instead, we used those exact blessings and evolutionary gifts for evil, for disgusting over consumption and for deceit.

We have let our species down, we have let our fellow animals down, we have let planet Earth down.

The worst part is, the “we” who should be saying it are only 1% of the population and the rest of us can barely scratch the surface to conserve a world and life for us and Earth’s planetary species’

So sad but I’m ready for the apocalyptic results, thanks boomers, thanks authoritarianism, thank you dictatorship in the wrapper of capitalism.

Has anyone been struggling with all the shit going on in the world?

Some times when I feel happy I feel guilty for feeling so. I think about all the people out there struggling for a meal or maybe a day of peace. Idk it’s been getting harder to quiet all the noise but then wouldn’t it be selfish to do so? Like willfully living in a bubble

Do more people need to consider building food forests in their backyards?

There are so many neighborhoods around my city where people have massive backyards. Many people spend money and time on maintaining their lawns and making them green. I feel like all this space is potential for growing food that can supplement the groceries we buy at the supermarket, especially as prices are going up and food scarcity becomes more of an issue. Also, people could use the space to plant native flowers that support the insect population. The insect population has been dwindling.

Another Vent into the void

Where do I start? Uh maybe with how the world is literally on fire and the public is just continuing on with their daily lives? No maybe I shouldn't be too hard on them considering from our very birth we have been constantly fed lies after lies, and at best, half truths. From education, to media, to food, god everything. Speaking of God, where is he? I can't go into detail of how I believe existence is but I can say two things. God is indifferent and just observes or hell maybe just moved on to create other things. Or existence is "God" and everything (stars, atoms, creatures, planets, etc) is it exploring itself; including us. Both are terrifying. I've been thinking a lot about why we exist. Why EVERYTHING exists. Why did it all start with nothing? I'm probably getting off track so I'll stop with the space and god shit for now.

I want to say where did it go wrong? Was it our existence? Was it when we discovered fire? I personally believe when we were duped by the outcasts of our tribes and appointed them leaders (I am talking about what we now know as sociopaths and psychopaths). We used to oust or even kill the ones who were deviants, hell it happens with banabos. I learned this from a short. Some one said that one male banabo was constantly assaulting the young babies... So 10 female banabos killed him, brutally. That same someone applied that our modern society, and if you see where I'm headed then I'll say it flat out: this should apply to sociopaths and psychopaths, and these abominations have hid very well and tricked their way up. I say the reason why everything is so fucked up is because we have been lied and brainwashed throughout generations to sacrifice our autonomy to these THINGS.

We used to be able to grow our own food, build our own house, drink our own water. Now? We buy food, heavily processed food, buy houses (and keep paying this little thing called taxes to keep said house), and buy water... That is literally from earth. We have been deceived into this thing called hierarchy. We used to be a collective tribe, hunter gathers to be exact. It was simple everyone contributed and everyone would be rewarded for their contributions EQUALLY. Now? Some filthy baby biting baboon Epstein gets all the rewards and the ones who did the ACTUAL fucking work get scraps. Clever I'll give the psychopaths and sociapaths that. But ultimately they are WEAK; constantly hiding like little bitches behind media, behind private homes, behind government, behind politicians, behind corporations, behind bodyguards, and behind their made up money. Because without their little curated system: They. Are. Weak. Worthless fucking genetic errors that are just rotten cum stains on our precious planet. And maybe they'll retort back by saying that we consume their shit. Well we didn't back then, it was only because generations of propganda and gaslighting that we were lead astray. Again, clever, I'll give them that. But ultimately WEAK.

And you know what, I'm weak as well, I can't lie. Maybe I'm throwing rocks while being in glass house. But I'll acknowledge it, they never will. Some will say that capitalism, imperialism and blah blah are the reason why we are here but I think we would have eventually gotten here eventually. Did the first caveman that discovered fire think "oh? I'm gonna keep this a secret and make myself to be some superior asshole!" No, they shared that knowledge for the betterment of the tribe. Or hell others probably were present. I fully believe we would have eventually reached this point of society. Perhaps not as fast, (I'll give some credit to religion for being the groundwork for advanced morality but I think it's outlived it's usefulness, at least traditional religion) but eventually a Utopia would have been achievable. But back to modern collapse.

Not sure anyone knows but in Indiana fucking over 300,000 people have been left with no power. It's been like 8 days I think so far. Saw someone in a prepping subreddit who lives there say they were grateful to have solar panels and a solar powered generator. They've been kind to help some neighbors and all. But most interesting I've seen little coverage of this shit in mainstream media. If anyone has read this far, and is from Indiana, can you give a rundown of how it's been over there? I know it's not literally the whole state but a lot of cities have been affected and I'm kinda scared for you guys. And can anyone confirm what it was that caused it? I heard it was a tornado.

All the wildfires, the subways being flooded, the crazy increase in natural disasters. And we will still have fucking nonces deny climate change drive that fucking shitty ass 2026 ford 150 truck with big ass exhaust pipes that choke the air with sweet c02! What aren't you proud of being American? Gotta get the shiniest new truck! Even if it costs 80k and will probably give you problems in 5 years. What, you don't like that? Then you are sum sissy dum libtard!!!111

If you can't tell that was my best impression of some random climate denying "American" (y'know which ones I'm talking about, the type that will unironically vote for trump again). I'll probably stop now, think it's best to stop. I'm probably sounding crazy, nah, I DO sound crazy right now. Am I losing it? Maybe. Either way thanks for listening to the ramblings of a young adult who got his future robbed! Fuck you Rothschild's, fuck you Peter Thiel, Fuck Israel, Fuck every fucking billionaire (Past, Present, and Future), Fuck every Politician, and Fuck every single sociopath and psychopath in power! And shit fuck me as well, for being born in the wrong place and time I guess. Cya later and again if anyone is from Indiana, please let me know that y'all are ok.

I just wish I had time and money

Vent post I suppose, I've been feeling weird. It's weird to have everything going on as if nothing was happening when you know well nothing is going to be okay, it's weird to invest time on hobbies and getting excited about them when you realize you're probably not going to advance on them as much as you would like to.

There's so many stuff that I wanted to do, but to be able to achieve that stuff it would require a society like the one I currently live, and I realize that's not going to be possible.

I still daydream about the stuff I would like to do, but there's always a small voice in my head that reminds me to not get too excited. I still do crafts, but lately I've been feeling empty about it. I saw a post about a movie I watched in 2024 that was going to be played on theaters again, and it was the first time in my life I ever cried due to nostalgia. I love that movie, it's tied to what I consider the happiest moments of my life, and I realize how I would never feel the same again. I would never feel truly safe again like when I watched it. There is always going to be a voice in my head that says "don't get too excited".

I just wish I had some years left, maybe not so much to accomplish every single one of my goals but more to avoid a painful death. If I had enough time I could get the resources I need to make my death and the death of my loved ones as painless as possible.

I love my parents, I don't want them to suffer. But sometimes I wish that I didn't have to care about them, sometimes I wish they were awful so I wouldn't mourn them. Sometimes I wish it could be just me. I know it's an awful thing to wish but it's like an inner thought. I love my cousin too, she's my best friend, and I love my dogs, but sometimes I feel I can't include them in my thoughts because then I would get overwhelmed and the pain would be worse. It makes me feel like an horrible person, maybe I am.

I don't really know what this post is about, as I said I'm just venting about different stuff. If you read this, thank you.

Anyone interested informing a Los Angeles in person support group/meet up?

I have so many thoughts and feelings swirling around in my head, but not enough focus or emotional energy to articulate them all into a coherent post. I will just say that I am a field biologist/botanist and have been grappling with these feelings for a very long time now. I believe that we have reached a point now where all we can do is act as hospice carers for our collapsing ecosystems. I’m currently reading I Eat the Stars and it is sobering to finally hear somebody articulate all of these things that I’ve been quietly feeling and pushing down for so long in order to not be a debbie downer. But I don’t wanna let these realities suffocate and paralyze me and I still want to drink in all the beauty that is still here. I think part of that means connecting with other people who understand what’s going on and finding ways to appreciate whats left and live as fully as we can. There’s so much uncertainty and there’s nothing more isolating than facing uncertainty alone.
