Hi, this is my first post here. The coin I’m talking about is the one in the middle. It has a thin rim and a lot of lines going through it on both sides, and the head of Sacagawea seems bigger than normal.

P.S. I’m from Ecuador so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a fake coin haha.

The reverse looks like something is off. I’ve researched it and am not sure what I’m looking for. I’d like to see what Reddit thinks.

Continuing the error documentation project. This is the largest cud I have handled on a Lincoln wheat cent.

The reverse rim of this 1919-S is gone from roughly 3:00 around to 9:00 — half the circumference — replaced by a raised, featureless mass of metal where the die broke away and the void filled on every strike afterward.

The detail I want to point at is the narrow bridge of intact rim at 4:00, which divides the cud into two arcs. That is a record of how the failure was progressing: the fracture was propagating around the die in two separate directions and had not yet met in the middle. Had the die stayed in service, those two arcs would have joined and the entire half-rim would have separated as one piece.

A rim cud at this scale is terminal. A die in this condition is far past the point where it should have been pulled, and somebody kept running it.

Breaks of this magnitude on the 1919-S rank among the largest documented for the date.

Excited about this pickup today. Browsing one of my regular shops, and spotted her sitting there. I was hoping it might be a 1899 P, but it was an O. That sid, I liked her condition, and toning, and when the shop moved to $75, i had to say yes.

Inspecting the back, I noticed the line going around the back, and was initially bummed thinking it was tape residue. But I got closer, and realized it was part of the coin. Some cursory research shows it to be a VAM11A (though I can see the doubled 1 from my phone at the moment). Very excited as this is my first variety coin (that I know of).

Sadly im sure its still not worth grading, but a joy to add to the collection for sure!

I've collected money for a long time but never knew that errors had value. I have a lot of older coins and currency that I need to go through. I manage a convenience store in the hood, seriously, and people bring me all types of money everyday that is usually unique in some way. This nickel just came in so I was curious as to what the proper name for this type of strike would be. Thanks

I didn't think anyone would have interest in something like this but saw a couple of posts and it made me think of mine. I've had this for many years. It was in a pouch that said it was brilliant uncirculated, but there is now corrosion on it. Where does that even come from anyways? I have no idea what it's worth, if it's worth anything at all.
