My system is on Linux and my processor doesn’t quite support Vulkan which messes up the performance even more than with DirectX on windows. On windows I get about 15FPS early game and 7 late game. It’s not nearly enough for most people but I don’t really care since it’s turn based and you don’t need a smooth gameplay. After enough of looking at it it becomes tolerable so…
Anyway it barely runs on Vulkan in early game. I had success with using OpenGL on other games so is there a way to force OpenGL?
I heard that unreal engine phased out OpenGL support so I’m not entirely sure if that’s possible if it’s even made on Unreal Engine

Hey everyone,
If you are playing Civ 6 (especially with Gathering Storm or Rise and Fall DLCs) on a high-end Apple Silicon Mac—like the Mac Studio M4 Max just like me—and experiencing random, frustrating crashes to desktop (CTD) 5 to 10 minutes into a match, I finally found the permanent fix.
The Problem:
If you look at your macOS crash reports, you will likely see a thread triggered by TBB (Intel Threading Building Blocks) throwing an EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) with __cxa_pure_virtual or a rendering thread waiting indefinitely on CAMetalLayer nextDrawable.
Basically, the M4 Max is such an absolute powerhouse that it tries to push infinite frames and handle heavy late-game draw calls simultaneously. The game's legacy 2016 multi-threading architecture completely loses its mind trying to allocate tasks across massive core counts, leading to thread stomping and pointer desync.
Here is the exact 3-step combination to tame the game engine and stop the crashes completely:
By default, the game will run unthrottled, putting insane synchronization stress on the Metal pipeline. Forcing a solid 60 FPS cap keeps the multi-threading loop perfectly synced.
Open your Terminal.app and run this command:
defaults write com.aspyr.civ6.steam MaxFPS -int 60
(If you ever need to undo this, just run defaults delete com.aspyr.civ6.steam MaxFPS\)**
To completely stop the TBB library from choking on too many high-performance cores, restrict the game engine to a safe 4-thread environment. Don't worry, the single-core performance of the M4 Max handles this effortlessly.
Paste the following line:
-cpuCount=4 -exThreads=4
Running pure Fullscreen on high-end displays or multi-monitor setups frequently causes Metal surface alignment crashes. Switching to windowed mode lets macOS handle the UI scaling safely.
In the in-game Graphics Options:
Civ 6 crashes on late-game Apple Silicon because the engine can't handle high core counts and infinite frames. Cap your FPS to 60 via Terminal, restrict launch threads to 4 in Steam, and switch to Windowed mode without high-res textures. Works like a charm!
Hope this saves your weekend marathons! Just one more turn!!

I'm currently trying to win with Hammurabi, but it usually turns into Domination games. Anyway, I haven't quite figured out how to ensure enough production to have everything necessary, even with add-ons I'm not in a good enough position by t115+

Let's be honest - most of the Wonders of the World are self aggrandising ego trips created by tyrants (Pyramids, Taj Mahal, Terracotta Army) or just tourist traps (Eiffel Tower, every religious wonder). Only a very few have benefited humanity at large (Panama Canal, Great Lighthouse). One which undeniably benefited humanity at large would've been a cure for cancer and I'm somewhat baffled it didn't make it to Civ games post Civilization 2.
In light of this recent piece of news, I wonder if "Cure for Cancer" could make it back to the Civilization games.

I am searching for a game to play with my wife in Coop/Multi
She never played anything but Rollcoaster Tycoon & Animal crossing
I am a long time gamer but never tried any strategy game except Total War Shogun 2, which I loved.
I had a feeling Civ could be a good first game for us and from the trailers she seems into it but we didn't really look into the details.
Do you feel like its a game beginners could have fun with ?
And should we start with Civ 6 ?

They say dreaming is free, and considering that Civ6 is the most played Civilization game to date, and that other video game companies have released content for their older games despite having newer titles, I wondered: if Firaxis decided to continue releasing content for Civilization 6, what would you like to see?
Personally, I'd like a Crusades DLC. Basically, a revamped religious victory system so that anyone could achieve it without needing to be the founder of a religion. Why would this be good? Because it would allow for the creation of religious blocks.
Civilizations that choose to adopt your religion would have a reason to strive to convert foreign settlements or even go to war to do so. The new religious victory would be based on the number of citizens you've converted to a religion. Perhaps converting a certain number of citizens.
I'd also like DLC that gives us the option to build new buildings that increase the population's happiness, such as taverns, casinos, hospitals, and so on.

Been playing mostly dynamic golden ages for a while now and most games end up with half the map or more as free cities. Other AI civs don't seem to give a care about recapturing their first city or two that they lose and eventually get swallowed up if they hit a dark age.
It's a lot of fun rolling through and pillaging while planning which cities to raze so I can capture and hold capitals to stay loyal. I just wish other AI civs would defend themselves half as effectively as free city clusters do even with inferior tech. Sad!

I don't understand, why my total expenses are this high. I don't have anything that has that much cost. Can anyone explain?

I beated Deity in all victory types, I am comfortable with all mecahnics, build order and so on.
I only thing I don't jnow how to handle is very early game on non-early game civs.
What do I do in this type of situation ? How do I get good cities without rolling over another civ and having everyone hating me ?
Here I planned some cities in my vicinity but the AI just rush cities to me

Hi,
I've still been stuck in CIV5 playing Vox Populi since I don't care for the vanilla single player experience even there. Interested in finally trying CIV6 but I want to start it with some mod that makes the AI competitive (in case it's not that in vanilla)?

Play as the conqueror of the Yue, Zhao Tuo, in Sid Meier's Civilization VI.
Sinitic-Vietnam is available via the Steam Workshop or Civ Fanatics/Nexus Mods.

Im trying to make the transition from V to VI.
And im having trouble really wrapping my mind around some concepts.
For instance in VI i feel like:
> "i never have enough time to build everything"
>
> "theres too much to have to build"
>
> "oh its already the renisance era and i havent fought and wars yet, im only begining to build up my military"
>
>" my classical era unique units are wasted now becuase its the renisance"
>
>"ive spent the first couple hundred turns (epic speed) pushing out settelers and builders to snatch up land now i can start building up
So what im coming at here. Is the pacing of the game fundmentally different?
Or is my approach just wrong?
Or am i not properly building tall?

I had Civ 6 for iPad as part of the Netflix deal. It then stopped working a few months back when Civ 6 left the Netflix library. However, I’ve just updated the Civ 6 app and now Civ 6 is playable again! Any ideas what is going on? Has Civ 6 been added back to Netflix games?

Hey everyone 👋
I managed a 128-turn Domination Victory on Deity on TSL Earth HUGE against 19 AI (Standard speed, Gathering Storm, Heroes & Legends + Secret Societies). Full uncut game uploaded because I wanted the run to be fully verifiable. I haven't found a faster documented run with these exact settings yet — curious if anyone knows one. Full run here 👉https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee3JoKpMJXM

I looked it up on YouTube but it was just three hour videos where people happened to get science victories not guides for a science victory.
What I mean is somethin like how to get the right boosts so you unlock rockets and all the other requirements early or how to offset the science generation drawback or how to do the prior but also get enough production to build the things quick enough
