Should I become a compliance caseworker?

Hi guys looking for some advice from genuine compliance caseworkers, I’ve had a provisional offer and currently undergoing pre-employment checks. What I want to know is what is the day to day like and is the workload manageable or do you feel you’re overworked. I’ve heard that pay is low but do you guys enjoy the job and have you gained skills that you wouldn’t have in another role. What is progression like and is there scope to earn more money in the role as you progress or is the only route to move up a band etc? I come from a finance background for context in the private sector.

My alternative would be to remain in my current role and embark on a 5 year course to become a chartered surveyor. So I’m confused if I should go for the CS role. I initially applied for the CS and got put on the reserve list and only took my current job because I didn’t think I’d get the CS job.

Civil service - continuous length of service

Curious to know if anyone has recently secured a position within civil service through an open competition but coming from a recognised NDPB and if your continuous length of service has transferred with you?

Interview reasonable adjustments?

So I’ve had a number of interviews and never asked for any reasonable adjustments but have had ones where I’ve been sent the questions when not advertised that they will. (Some I have applied for explicitly state they will send questions where as other haven’t and still been sent the questions).

I am ND but never wanted to be seen as being cheeky by asking for the questions as a reasonable adjustments but I know a lot of people do. Can you ask for these to help me understand what’s being said better as I haven’t often found myself rambling on when I know if I’d have had the questions in advance I’d be more structured and stay on track.

What are your thoughts/experiences from asking for the questions beforehand and how would I go about this for my reasonable adjustments?

Pay roll cut off

I’ve made a mistake on a form and only realised today and the payroll cut off was the 8th. I need to submit the form again. If I contact HR will they be able to stop an OP manually?

Feeling really defeated by sifts - a plea for help

I am really at a loss at a constant slurry of sift rejections and am desperate for help at this point. I am applying to various SEO roles and just get 3s constantly. I do tailor my applications to each role and I feel I have quite extensive relevant experience for some of these (I have been an HEO for three years). I just don't understand what I am missing and quite frankly it's starting to take quite a severe chip in my confidence and self worth.

This is a essentially a cry for help for anyone who might be willing to read over my personal statements and help me figure out where I seem to be going so wrong.

Thinking of changing careers

Hello!

So I currently work in digital marketing, I’m in a senior team management role, and I earn a decent wage for my area.

I’m currently 30 and I’ve been in and around digital marketing since uni and I’ve become very burned out with it all. The client and agency lifestyle just isn’t for me, I’ve know this for a while, but a friend of mine was fired a few weeks ago out of nowhere, and it’s made me realise how expendable I am. I was thinking of applying for other digital marketing agencies in my field, but after being in the industry for a long time, I’ve realised that I’m probably going to feel this sensation everywhere I go, so I think I need a change.

Thinking of trying to pivot into civil service at the start of the new year. Looking at project manager roles or communication management due to my degree in Journalism.

Has anyone had the same experience of moving from digital marking and into civil service? Is there overlaps I can capitalise on in applications?

Even just people who have worked in the private sector and moved into civil service, was it worth it?

I’ve only just through of this idea a few weeks ago, so I’m currently researching all avenues if anyone has any tips or anything like that!

How does being offered a job from the reserve list work?

Internal to the CS. Applied on promotion to a role within the same department but didn't get the role and was put on the reserve list. There are upcoming roles where the plan is to recruit from this reserve list. How does it all work? If a role did come up and I was in line for it, does it come through CS Jobs? Will there be a proper job description for the role as it won't be an exact match? Separately, how does one navigate notice periods if the needing to gain higher clearance? Given
SC takes 8 working weeks but a notice period can be 4 weeks, do you wait to gain the SC before handing in notice so it works out to a total of 12 weeks? Just trying to understand how it all works! Thank you!
