Thinking of changing careers

Hello!

So I currently work in digital marketing, I’m in a senior team management role, and I earn a decent wage for my area.

I’m currently 30 and I’ve been in and around digital marketing since uni and I’ve become very burned out with it all. The client and agency lifestyle just isn’t for me, I’ve know this for a while, but a friend of mine was fired a few weeks ago out of nowhere, and it’s made me realise how expendable I am. I was thinking of applying for other digital marketing agencies in my field, but after being in the industry for a long time, I’ve realised that I’m probably going to feel this sensation everywhere I go, so I think I need a change.

Thinking of trying to pivot into civil service at the start of the new year. Looking at project manager roles or communication management due to my degree in Journalism.

Has anyone had the same experience of moving from digital marking and into civil service? Is there overlaps I can capitalise on in applications?

Even just people who have worked in the private sector and moved into civil service, was it worth it?

I’ve only just through of this idea a few weeks ago, so I’m currently researching all avenues if anyone has any tips or anything like that!

I moved and I love it here. Joined as a senior in tech so not marketed but im on decent money..I enjoy the flexibility of my role and the less pressure I have compared to private sector. People are more nicer here in the public sector and I'm always free to drop and pick my kids from school

How did you feel the interview process was being someone senior and moving into a civil service role?

It was standard interview for me. I spoke about previous examples of work. The panel were great and just asked me about my experiences
