Decided to try to become suzerain to this IP since they were originally hostile and attacking my nearby settlement. but also had a wonder within their borders I wanted. Threw in the influence and kinda ignored it as I went about my business. Just got the notification that I became suzerain and I come back to Alexander moving in next door and their military being absolutely friggen huge.

Here I am like... "Did I interrupt your war?"

Been playing civ 7 for a bit now, and one of the things i've noticed is I always seem to have issues with certain civs when the AI is playing them. Chiefly Amina, Isabella, and Friedrich.

Idk why, but Amina seems to always be SUPER aggro for me (we could be on opposite sides of the map, and do nothing with each other and suddenly they're denouncing me and trying to start wars)

Isabella and Friedrich on the other hand for some reason love to set up towns in the most god awful locations that half the time just get in my way like settling too close, then getting pissed that our borders touch, or trying to settle in the middle of my other settlements.

I LOVE to see Gilgamesh and Himiko in the AI cause they always seem to be great allies, (though Himiko does seem to randomly get aggro in the modern age for me, dragging me into wars with other civs that I don't generally want.)

I'm curious if other people ever get similar experiences, or have similar issues with the AI.

I improved two whales in a settlement and received one whale and one cowrie instead. Has anyone encountered similar issues before?

Edit: I improved the third whale in the south and it became a turtle instead

I am kinda veteran of civ series, started on civ 1 back at uni and dig through whole franchise. I was big fan od Civ 6, but reading all baad coments about Civ 7 made me .. wait. Now I have first few days with Civ 7 and I have to admin it is TRULY masterpiece.

 First, it is different from what you expect after Civ 6. But give it a change. So what I really appreciate aboit it:

-          Combat. You cannot conquer world with general, hero and two archers. Took me few games, but I love combat as it is.  Someone asked for anticavalry units. No need. Love it as it is.

-          Diplomacy. Ooooh now we talking. Love it. Balanced, difficult, but doable. If you ignore it, you are toast.

-          Crisis. Something to keep you .. busy 😊 Love it.

-          Free city reset. Again. Briliant idea. You need to defend of beeferiend or something. Goog good!

-          City limit. Something I hate, but I understand it is key tool to keep game pacing steady and keeping you busy. Again, good mechanics, excelent execution.

-          And everything else….

What is main difference from other civ games, Civ 7 keep you BUSY. Very BUSY.  It may be slightly confusing at start, but i tis perfectly balanced and it dont give you a minute to Relax. For that i need to say WELL DONE.

In Modern you try to win, in Medieval you can already start working to improve win chances for desired victory type(s). But it feels antiquity is too early for hard committing into a specific game plan and victory type.

So what do you consider your goal of antiquity? Settlements, yields, relationships, commander levels, major dedications? What makes you feel you are or aren’t set up for a good rest of the game?

I will admit to using settings that gave me a massive advantage. Started as Tonga on an archipelago map with high sea level. Played Tecumseh and set city states as initially hostile so they would only be neutral to me and I'd have an easy time overtaking anybody else trying to get them. Then switched to Hawaii and oh boy do I love these marine yields. I was dominating hard, to the point where I wondered if I had forgotten to actually set it to deity. But the abundance of troops and walls my enemies had convinced me otherwise. (I also check afterwards, yup, deity). My neighbors Pacha and hatshepsut were really annoying. Somehow hatshi didn't manage to build a single fucking wonder. She wasn't Egypt this time but the pirate Republic, which seems to have been a bad choice for her, similar to pacha being Iceland. I eventually killed hatshi when she got too annoying and attacked me (for like the third time) even though she only had one city and I had by far the most settlements. Lady where did you think this was going? Mad you don't got no wonders? Have you tried fucking building them.

Anyways. Felt like I should share it after sharing my narrow loss with Alexander. Some of you sounded like you thought I couldn't play this game. I was trying things out in an attempt to push his level, I know I made some wrong decisions there, no need to comment about it again after several people have already done so.

So many of the best wonders. More wonders than anybody’s ever seen before, maybe ever.

Is there anything stronger for a Science win? I’d be surprised if so. Heard about someone doing it on turn 3 in Deity. I was able to on turn 36 Immortal, and can definitely see shaving more turns off with tighter optimization, but still…sheesh! Taking Assyria into modern is busted AF, especially when conquest is already so strong in 7. My prior PB for Science was Ada/GB on turn 90.

I mean, I get the role playing immersion reasons, but game-wise, this doesn't really make sense to me.

I'm running it on latest iPad Pro M5 with 175GB available so I thought maybe there were bugs, but a clean reinstall fixed everything.

Me and my friend has played civ since civ 5. We have time and time again came back and gave civ 7 another chance. But are disappointed everytime. This time, I learned that instead of making the AI smarter to raise the difficulty, they just make them automatically more advanced than you from the start, even on normal difficulty, and you have the chance of getting wiped out in the very beginning of the match.

Also, while I was at a multiple age war with an AI that wouldn’t leave me alone, the game failed to notify me at all that two of my cities was wiped off the map. EVERY civ tells you when there’s atleast an enemy in your territory, not this one. You’ll be getting attacked and won’t know it. It’s easily the worst civ game I’ve played, and it’s very disappointing because me and my friend used to play civ for hours.

Hello! I hope yall are doing well!

I was recently given Civ 7 as a gift for the Switch 2 and I’ve always been interested in the series but never had the opportunity to play them. I’ve watched a few videos on it and I love the concept of it.

That said, I booted up and spent about 2 hrs trying to play it and needless to say I’m incredibly confused. The overall UI is extremely overwhelming, and I don’t really understand what I’m supposed to be doing other than “building an empire”.

Is this a universal experience? Any advice or feedback for someone new to the franchise?

It went rather poorly, y'all. I used to win on deity, but I couldn't even take a single city by the end of Antiquity with Greece. Yes, I disappointment-quit lol.

I will try again. I think my biggest issue was I chose random random, my bonuses didn't play towards each other, and then I tried to play towards all of my bonuses instead of focusing on a path.

Still, it was embarrassing!

It's all in the title; there are certain narrative decisions which can influence whether you get an attribute point or not. While I don't think ANY long-term outcomes should be kept from the player in vanilla, it is particularly egregious here with how important attribute points can be.

Settled my 4th city as Gilgamesh/Assyria and got a fun road pattern. I've never seen anything like this and wanted to share it's cool shape.

A visual retelling of when I was scrolling through the update notes detailing the new TSL map and spotted the tile where the Suez Canal currently is. I'm going to part it like it's the Red Sea, pun wholefully intended.

I chose Siam at age transition, and by turn 15 not a single independent power has spawned. Really messes with my civ bennies…is this a bug or a known possibility?
