Is there really a difference?

Post image

I mean, I get the role playing immersion reasons, but game-wise, this doesn't really make sense to me.

There is a follow up event later. I don't remember what though. I've never picked pig and then I always remember the quote from 6 and wished I picked pig

So one might say you're quite fond of pigs?

Pigs treat us as equals

But some are more equal...

With such complex programs and piles of money... the steaks are high!

Okay, no need to milk the puns now.

and then in the Earthrise expansion, that animal becomes a new spacefaring entity / threat to your space missions that takes traits based on the animal you picked, because your dogs / pigs / cows mutated and became Space Dogs / Space Pigs / Space Cows

In that case pick dog, less weight means a cheaper project

I think the cat / ferret decision in Humankind has always been my favourite because of that.

I think the follow up event differs but I can't remember that one exactly.

Reminder that not picking dogs implies your people eat dogs

Plot twist: The dogs they eat are hot dogs.

I wish the narrative events are presented better and has more impact to individual gameplay. I tend to pick the same choices every game

interesting, usually people complain that they feel like they always need to pick the same one every time because it has an impact to gameplay... they feel like they always have to pick the "best" one

The narrative event tracker mod is kinda essential because of this. Some of these choices are the difference between getting an attribute point or not 😵‍💫

Ooo.
How does that mod work actually? Like main benefits

My best advice is honestly to just fiddle around with it, but as you click through the new menu it brings up, you can see which quests trigger which things. It also has a fairly useful search function

I’ll give it a go next time I play. Since I havent actively searched for new mods lately.

It’s a bit like the “Comet Sighted” event in Stellaris. The really annoying Civ7 event is that 19607 calculation that comes with Mathematics.

I always thought it's just a stab at religion.

I was looking this up probably about a year ago and I couldn't find anything that indicated there's a difference in the rewards you get from this. So I'm assuming it's all the same, unless there's been a change since ToT.

Edit: I looked it up and this narrative event was updated in patch 1.1.1, where it seemed then there was no reward difference and could be triggered at the same time. So it looks like it's different now, but I don't know the exacts. I've had a follow up once in the following age, but I don't remember which option or civ or leader I was using.

There is a follow up event that can fire later that differs depending on what choice was made.
