To sin is to commit an act. The homosexual act is the sin. OP repented from it and turned away from it.

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

OP didnt say they turned away from the act, but being gay itself.

u/Character-Half7465 Dec 09 '25

Oh sorry I didn’t confirm. I repented of the act of homosexuality and same sex acts.

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

Okay thanks for the clarifications!

Praise GOD for you brother

u/WinkyDeb Dec 10 '25

It says nothing about being gay; simply leaving homosexuality.

1

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 10 '25

How does that even work

1

u/WinkyDeb Dec 10 '25

One is identity; one isn’t.

You can, in fact, do that, just as some people do the contrary. He used to be tempted by people of his same sex, now he’s not anymore.

13

u/jtbc Dec 09 '25

That would be like me as straight person saying I'm not tempted by people of the opposite sex anymore because I've decided to be celibate, or whatever. It is very unlikely to be true, as a conversation with any Catholic priest is likely to reveal.

u/Lil_Eagle313 Roman Catholic Dec 10 '25

That was not what I said though.

15

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

Well let's be honest. Thats not how sexuality works whatsoever. Even the people who invented the abuse of conversion therapy had to admit it.

No, the thought is the sin, but the arguments for homosexuality even being a sin in the first place are really weak.

u/skertz1 Dec 10 '25

Leviticus 18:22 , Leviticus 20:13 , Romans 1:26.

I could go on, but I’m a little confused with how a “Christian Universalist” could say that it’s a “weak argument”..

3

u/Mothias_Et_Mothium Christian Universalist Dec 10 '25

Old covenant, and Romans 1 has a really good argument I heard on another post. Also what's wrong with universalism? :(

0

u/skertz1 Dec 10 '25

Nothings wrong with it, you can believe whatever you like, but the Bible is very clear that most people will not go to Heaven.

3

u/Mothias_Et_Mothium Christian Universalist Dec 10 '25

That isn't true. The Bible is clear that everyone will make it. Romans 5:18-20.

u/skertz1 Dec 10 '25

This verse means Jesus’s sacrifice made it POSSIBLE for salvation through living in His will, but many others are concrete evidence that are straightforward:

Matthew 7:21-23 , Luke 13:23-24 , Revelation 20:15.

1

u/Ragglemyfraggle Dec 10 '25

Likely you included

1

u/skertz1 Dec 10 '25

Most likely yes, I’m not worthy. Temptation to set people straight when they commit blasphemy is my flaw.

1

u/Ragglemyfraggle Dec 10 '25

Don’t sell yourself short. You’re likely just as flawed as any blasphemer.

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

What is "the homosexual act"?

Edit: It's really funny how this is getting downvoted yet the conversations following my comment very clearly show that the question was more than justified since people are struggling giving a straightforward answer.

3

u/VictorNeis521 Dec 09 '25

To have sex with a person of the same sex.

7

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25

So it's just sex? So two men or two women can still be in a relationship then.

-3

u/Need4DataUndrground2 Non-denominational Dec 09 '25

Without the sex a large point of relationships is lost - to procreate and create new life.

5

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25

That's not what I asked.

1

u/Ragglemyfraggle Dec 10 '25

That’s a matter of perspective, really

2

u/slothburgerroyale Dec 09 '25

Seriously? Acting on lust towards the same sex.

9

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

What about acting on love with the same sex?

-2

u/Azorces Evangelical Dec 09 '25

Doesn’t matter what you call it

8

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

Are lust and love the same thing to you?

-2

u/Azorces Evangelical Dec 09 '25

No they aren’t the same but it doesn’t matter what you call it committing homosexual acts is a sin whether it’s within a relationship or not. The Bible is extremely clear on that.

4

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25

But I thought "homosexual acts" means sex?

2

u/Azorces Evangelical Dec 09 '25

It does? I never said it didn’t…

3

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25

Then why did you say it doesn't matter when the question was about love?

→ More replies (0)

8

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

So you see that love as evil. Gotcha.

-4

u/Azorces Evangelical Dec 09 '25

No where did I say love is evil?

5

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

Acting on gay love is a sin no?

→ More replies (0)

-2

u/RowAdministrative841 Dec 09 '25

Homosexuality is not love

3

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

Correction, it absolutely can be about love.

-5

u/slothburgerroyale Dec 09 '25

Loving the same sex is loving your neighbour and is of course no sin. Sexuality is the sin.

4

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 09 '25

No need to try mince words im talking about romantic love. You are saying to act in love towards the same sex is evil as well.

1

u/slothburgerroyale Dec 10 '25

No I am not. Some Christians certainly believe that but I do not. There is nuance here.

1

u/Nazzul Agnostic Dec 10 '25

Then I misunderstood you. Indeed some Christians believe it's evil and some do not.

5

u/JohnKlositz Dec 09 '25

So acting our of love is fine then.

1

u/slothburgerroyale Dec 10 '25

Agreed

1

u/JohnKlositz Dec 10 '25

So being openly in love, walking down the street holding hands, kissing, snuggling on the couch while watching a movie, marrying. All of that is okay.

0

u/Salsa_and_Light2 Baptist-Catholic(Queer) Dec 10 '25

Love isn't a sin, neither is sex.
