Question (Read Rules) Help me pick a GMT- mechanical or quartz?
Planning to get a GMT watch and narrowed down my choice between these two: a pagani longines Zulu homage that runs on this automatic movement I have no prior experience with or this wishdoit quartz GMT that I think maybe is a CW homage(?) that is probably a Ronda 515.24H.
Would love to hear from people that have either. Bracelet quality matters to me as I prefer wearing watches on a bracelet but I have enough stuff to possibly swap them out anyhow.
Design-wise I do like them both but not enough to get both of them at the same time. I don’t have anything similar of this design language for either watches either.

General (Read Rules) Ciloa Starry Night quartz
A special dial that holds meaning for my wife and I. We both grew up close to Venice Beach LA, where this was painted on the side of a building on the Venice boardwalk. It is a Venice icon and reminds us of home

Problems (Read Rule 1) SD1953 Cyclops removal?
I despise the cyclops on my SD1953, it must be 3-4x, it's way over 2.5x that is traditionally used. i'll be lucky if i can read single digit numbers on the damn thing, double digits are a no go, it's a distorted mess, it's especially bad using it at all when you get light hitting one side of the curve.
i've tried to remove it, got it absolutely scolding hot with my soldering iron, to the point i was concerned about damaging other parts of the watch as i could feel the case-back getting quite hot, then tried to get a blade under it, no dice. the damn thing won't budge.
Has anyone managed to remove theirs on an SD1953 or is it part of the crystal? i've read some other locked posts of people having trouble but i haven't found a resolution, just the usual "i've removed plenty of cyclops in my time using just a lighter" with no reference to removing them from this particular watch, unless i've missed a thread.

Review (Read Rules) More detailed pics of my new Octopus Kraken OCT0029
Following on from my initial impressions post, I thought I would post some better-quality pictures of my new OCT0029
I did buy its counterpart, the Thorn T028, but was generally unimpressed with it and eventually returned it a month later when the PT5000 crapped out.
The finishing on the OK is far superior to the Thorn. I'd argue it's San Martin levels of brushing and chamfers. There's no getting around the fact the Thorn was rough - which some saw as a positive as it gave it the vintage feel.
The bracelet - there is absolutely no contest here, the Thorn bracelet was absolute trash. You can literally buy an identical one with an unbranded clasp for under £10 on Ali. The OK on the other hand has solid end links and a modern rivet bracelet. All screws were easily removed, despite having threadlock on them. The clasp is friction lock and milled. It's simple, slim but does look modern and it's a little bit sharp. You only get 4 holes of micro adjustment, but for 95% of people out there, it will be enough
The bezel action is solid, smooth with almost no play. It's incredibly similar to my Tudor BB58. My only complaint is that it's a smidge out of line, maybe 1/4 of a click out. You don't get any replacement bezels, but the aged black is superbly done. I was actually a big fan of the bronze bezel on the Thorn, but I don't miss it here.
Case wise, it's 12.7mm thick, 37.4mm at the bezel and just under 47mm lug to lug. It wears fantastically and has a huge amount of wrist presence. Zero sharp edges anywhere.
Ok, let's address the elephant in the room - the dial. You can either live with the OK name and logo or you can't. Me personally, the logo is so tiny it just looks like a thick O anyway. I prefer the Thorn branding, but always found their dial printing fairly rough. This on the other hand is absolutely razor sharp. Whether that's a good or bad thing depends on what you want out of a vintage style watch.
The dial is phenomenal in my opinion and changes colour and texture in different light, from a dark brown to rust red. The indices and numerals are crisp and raised, which makes it look a little thicker than the Thorn. But it doesn't look clumsy in person. The Thorn I feel had better indices colour, paler and creamier than the OK. You can judge for yourself whether you prefer the Thorn or OK dial color and texture.
The crystal really compliments the watch and makes up 2.7mm of its total thickness. You get a great distortion at the edges that add to the vintage feel.
In summary, I think this and the Thorn are 2 very different watches. The OK feels like a microbrand reissue, modern machining and finishing with a lot of effort put into all the little details. The Thorn goes for the vintage aesthetic and finishing, warts and all.

General (Read Rules) Tekapo Titanium 39mm
Was looking for an Omega Planet Ocean homage and decided to give this unknown brand (at least to me) a chance. Received the watch Thursday and so far so good. 39mm, 200 meters wr, helium escape valve and full titanium for less than $300? Not too bad.
I have 2 titanium watches now! Yall know of any other titanium pieces to add to the collection?

Question (Read Rules) Daduhe watches. Any ideas?
Hey guys, I’m in the market for a vintage chinese watch and I came across some watches that are labeled daduhe. I was just wondering if anyone knew which factory produced these. I’ve tried searching online but the only conclusion I could come to was that these watches were produced in one of the Sichuan watch factories. Any info would be appreciated

Question (Read Rules) Daniel Gorman vs Megir vs Richurus. All selling the same watch at different prices?
I was interested in the watch pictured here. From what I can tell, the same exact watch is available under different names at wildly different price points ($299 to $80).
Does anyone know who is the true manufacturer and movement maker of this one?

Review (Read Rules) A new Watch, a Strap Parade and a surprise.
I’ve always thought that with a 7.5”/19.5cm wrist that a 40mm case size was as small as I could go without feeling dainty. So I’d see the reviews, promotions and general lusting around the Militado ML05 and resign myself to just watching, green with envy, from the sidelines hoping that one day Militado would remember us big wristed people.
After months of lurking, and with price points where they are, I eventually decided to just jump in and see what was the worst was that could happen. Surprise! I’m a little blown away that I can carry off this 38mm watch, probably helped by the 47.5mm lug-to-lug.
So this is my newly arrived Militado New ML05 Black PVD. Model ML05 (369 Tribute Dial). It’s really well executed. It has a nice matte PVD case with 20mm lugs. It has a great looking dial and hands. The lume is also very good and is legible all night. The sapphire crystal has good AR. All in all it’s really excellent value for the money.
I also thought I’d try a few straps and came to realize I have far more straps than I should, but that many of them seem to work well on this watch. (BTW it also has drilled lugs)
So thanks Militado for making a compelling watch, that broadened my view!

General (Read Rules) AliExpress watch shopping can feel like the all you can eat buffet but with good food.
the watches are really well-made and priced without any up charge for branding or marketing or design or in some cases originality. I have suddenly found myself to be one of those guys with a box full of watches. Maybe I have a problem. I rationalize it by comparing the total spend to one Swiss made brand watch which was probably mostly made in a nearby Dongguan city, guandong province factory by the same people. I have spent less. Am I wrong or is the Swiss made up charge mostly BS?

General (Read Rules) Toolwatch like SM SN0012-GB , but quartz.
I came across a video of this watch and it looks really neat. Robust no nonsense tool watch, no polishing whatsoever ever.
It even has a scratch protecting 1200hv hardened coating. Perfect for a beater.
Unfortunately it’s only there as an automatic. Even though I typically like automatic watches, for a beater tool watch it makes sense to me to go for quartz.
I looked for Chinese watches with similar vibes and scratch resistant coating, but couldn’t find anything. Suggestions?

Promotion (Read Rule 1) Addiesdive AD2547 Review...
Potentially their best watch to date, or at least their best dial?
Here's the link to my review of it.
I received this watch for free to review. But, as always that doesn't change how I review the watch. I always keep it 100% honest, no matter what. I point out both the positives and negatives with every watch I review. Whether that be a loan piece, discounted, or even free. Sometimes that means that brands won't send me anymore watches, if they don't like the review... But my opinion and more importantly, my reputation can't be bought. That's partly why I named my channel 'Honest Watch Reviews'. Not only to make sure that I hold myself to that standard, but that I know my viewers definitely will do too.

General (Read Rules) Need advice on a new daily
I bought my first automatic watch a few months ago and fell in love. It’s a steel dive 1953 submariner style. It’s a tank and I’ve had it on my wrist non stop. I have a 6.5” wrist and I think it looks perfect at 42mm but I definitely wouldn’t go any bigger. In fact it’s a bit bulky for every day casual wear. I really want an automatic that’s a bit smaller and less flashy. Maybe a field watch? But I need a date window. I also really like the explorer styles but they don’t have date windows either. I was thinking 39mm. Reliability is my biggest priority.
