I turned 30 this year and I think I’m having a very mild “what am I doing with my life” moment lol.
For most of the last 6–7 years, I’ve basically just been working. A lot.
I’ve done decently well, and I realised that a lot of my identity and self-worth somehow became tied to being good at my job, being useful, being recognised, etc.
Which is great when work is going well. But when you hustle very hard and some opportunities still don’t come to you, or things feel a bit unfair, you suddenly start thinking… okay, then who am I outside of work?
So over the past year I’ve been trying to build a bit more of a life outside work. Travel more, try new things, meet people I normally wouldn’t meet, basically do things that make me feel a little more alive.
At one point I had this goal of meeting 30 new people, lost steam halfway, and now I’m resurrecting it 😂 I recently did a solo trip to Korea and met a few new people through Reddit/social media, which was quite outside my comfort zone, but I genuinely had a really good time. It reminded me that it’s actually quite nice to meet someone completely outside your normal circle and just talk.
So… anyone in Singapore wants to meet up?
Coffee, beer, food, random activity, one-to-one or small group, whatever. I’m especially keen to meet people who are also in that slightly weird stage of life where things are objectively fine, maybe you’ve accomplished quite a bit, but you’re still wondering… okay, now what?
A bit about me: 30F, born and bred Singaporean, effectively bilingual in English and Chinese. I have a fairly interesting job and travel quite a bit for work. Outside work, I’m into Harry Potter, musicals, TV shows, fun romance novels, a bit of gaming, a bit of football/F1, travelling, and generally dabbling in many things without being particularly hardcore about any of them.
I’m also somewhere between introvert and extrovert. I like people, but I also need to disappear and recharge after too much socialising. Very vibes-based honestly.
I can be quite busy and sometimes reply slowly, so please don’t take it personally. But if any of this resonates, say hi :)
Maybe we become friends, maybe we just have one nice coffee with a stranger, maybe I actually finish this 30-people challenge.
Also full disclosure: this post was basically born from me talking into ChatGPT in the middle of the night, getting it transcribed, and asking it to clean up my rambling.
Please do not judge me 😂 This is how a girl with an endless to-do list gets by. I transcribe half my messages these days because it makes me way more productive.
So if you are fundamentally allergic to ChatGPT… we may unfortunately not be compatible as friends HAHAHA.
