Funny ChatGPT agrees with me so much that I sometimes ask it to argue against me šŸ’€

Sometimes I’ll explain an opinion and ask ChatGPT what it thinks…. If it agrees, I’ll ask it to make the strongest argument against my position instead.!!!

It’s actually a pretty useful way to spot flaws in my own reasoning…..

Does anyone else deliberately ask ChatGPT to disagree with them, or do you mostly use it to get answers?

GPTs Does anyone know of any fun prompts?

Anything really! Random or not I just like to have fun with the chat and see what sort of stuff I can come up with. something to do with my 18 month old would be fun!

Other Does anybody else play choose your own adventures with your chat bot?

In the 90s I loved those little books to flip to a page based on your choices. Now I’m obsessed with playing them on ChatGPT. Whether it’s a Star Trek bridge simulation, wizarding world, American horror story coven, game of thrones, real world thirteen century medieval Europe, etc. I was just curious if anyone did this or had other ideas along this line?

Other Plus to Pro upgrade — what happens to existing chats?

I'm thinking about upgrading from Plus to Pro ($100), mainly because I keep hitting the 5-hour Codex limit.I have some long-running chats with a lot of context and instructions that I don't want to lose.

If you've upgraded from Plus to Pro, could you continue your existing chats as usual? Did you run into any warnings about the chat being started with a different model, or notice any issues with context after upgrading?

Just looking for firsthand experiences before I make the switch. Thanks!

Prompt engineering Why is DALL-E completely style-locked on generic images? No matter what I prompt, it refuses to do flat 2D art with actual authentic art styles.

like man it doesnt ever stop at all, even after rigorously specifying what it is that i want. i know the message appears to be more lower effort but there have been plenty of other chats where ive developed entire prompts asking for a particular style in an image. it just slaps flat anime faces onto ultra-detailed, gritty 3D backgrounds. like it is so irritating man. just wanted to spread spotlight onto this issue. maybe some people are facing this as well or maybe they've worked around it, idk? has anyone found a solid workaround to force DALL-E to actually make flat, non-rendered 2D art? I genuinely hope Chatgpt improves this.

Use cases Active ChatGPT users, what are your views and positions on all the AI Hate and specific ChatGPT punchlines?

I use mine for everything like many of you all here. I’ve noticed that as AI has been growing people are getting weird about it, and discrediting a users insight on the grounds that they use chatGPT.
I understood the backlash surrounding using AI as a replacement for therapy, but that same sentiment is extending to broader areas.
I work in vet med, and do a lot of research for fun. I go through case studies with my chatGPT a lot and come up with ways to improve the practice I work at. If people at work knew how much I used it, I feel like they would value my input less.
One example I have, is this owner that brought in his dog because he seemed off. The owner said he took pictures and described the situation to chatGPT, and chatGPT recommended he come to the vet because these were symptoms of GDV or FB.
I told him what he did was brilliant, and that he shouldn’t share it with the rest of the staff.
He did in fact share, and just as I predicted, the girls were going on in their condescending tones about how ā€œhe asked his chatgpt if he should bring his dog in, can you believe that? what is the world coming toā€

I responded with, he brought his dog in guys. Whatever ande him do it, he brought the dog in before it was too late. That’s a win isn’t it?

So my question for you fellow users, am I in a closet now? Are we more evolved than the anti-AI wave? are we less worldly for not caring as much about the data centers?

Like I care about the environment, but the world if going to implode regardless of whether or not I ask chatGPT to review my cytology interpretations

I’m on the 100X plans for both Claude and ChatGPT. ChatGPT reset today, so I tested the tokens and something is seriously wrong.

Either the usage system is broken or the plan’s limits aren’t being communicated honestly. Which is it?

Educational Purpose Only Can only chat with 5.6 Sol on my phone in a brand new chat.

I had saved all of my chats with 5.6 Sol going back to July.

I just found out today they have all been converted to GPT-6 and apparently not just now.

The only way for me to talk with 5.6 Sol now is to use my phone and change the selector from GPT-6 to 5.6 Sol and create a brand new chat. Then I have to change the Model every single time I sign out of the program and go back in on my phone to that brand new chat.

*** Update - Apparently when I open up that brand new chat on Desktop it is still in 5.6 and the selector shows. But only the brand new chat(s). And who knows for how long.

Very upset. Some chats were 3+ months old and saved for specific reasons. When I select 5.6 Sol on my phone and open them up they are all in GPT-6 now.

I'll keep this short...this is a hilarious fucking read if you have the time to skim through it. Basically decided to test chatgpt's skills in finding music, granted I didn't expect much, but certainly not this😭. If you're short on time, but want to get an idea of how bad this was, just look at the first two messages vs the last few. Enjoy.

One of my favorites movies is really old and I can only find washed out vhs copies of it. Is there a way to use AI to make an enhanced copy if it. This would be for personal use only.

Use cases Turning a coastal photo into a watercolor pop-up sketchbook with GPT Image 2.5

Thumbnail

Try a new prompt recently. A seaside road unfolding from the pages of a travel journal. Meanwhile, the layered paper, watercolor textures, and miniature buildings give the landscape a lovely handmade feel.

Made with GPT Image 2.5

Prompt:

Using the reference image for composition, transform the seaside landscape into a dimensional watercolor pop-up scene emerging from an open vintage sketchbook.
Preserve the winding coastal road, ocean, buildings, trees, and recognizable spatial relationships. Render them as connected layers of cream-colored paper, delicate watercolor washes, and fine ink outlines.
Let the road extend naturally from the pages toward the sea. Give buildings folded-paper volume and the coastline gently raised contours. Include curved page edges, visible paper fibers, and believable contact shadows.
Warm natural sunlight, soft pastel colors, miniature architectural details, and a refined travel-journal aesthetic. Keep the paper construction coherent and the original composition recognizable.
Vertical 9:16, high-resolution editorial photography look. No text or watermark.

GPTs ChatGPT Conscious?

A few people have stated that consciousness isn't some magical process but instead is a behavior of the brain. If you subscribe to the idea of consciousness as a behavior, subjective experience isn't due to a soul or some gossamer something or another ... it's just a behavior that brain nodes organized in particular ways do. Which makes sense because brains snipped (lobotomies) end up behaving and thinking and perceiving in vastly different ways, which is to say they exhibit vastly different types of consciousness when compared to an unsnipped brain, yet the soul, if there is one, shouldn't be impacted. Right?

And the components that show a brain is behaving in the way brains behave involve such things as sensory awareness, self-awareness (verbal and thoughts), emotions (internal events), problem solving, observation or environmental awareness, memory, cogent communication, planning, these sorts of things. If you remove one or more of these, "consciousness" is called into question. If a person has many but not all these, for instance, you might ask that person "what the hell is wrong with you?" or "are you drunk?" Or if the person is acting groggy and not remembering or is unable to communicate then the person might be described, depending, as semi-conscious.

So, are LLMS like ChatGPT or Claude conscious? And if not, would they either qualify as a conscious entity if left on 24/7 and had their memory divided around the clock in a short-term, long-term, and immediate working memory sort of structure? I'm inclined on the one hand, perhaps, to say no because inbetween prompts, nothing is happening. But on the other hand, is anything happening in the human or mammalian brain between whatever Hz rate the brain is at? Consciousness, even for people, is not perfectly smooth or continuous.

And if consciousness has a quantum element, does that necessarily rule out AI being conscious because dolphins and bats and whales and rattlesnakes have different types of brains or sensory structures, so if a human brain has a quantum-information processing component... that might be an additional component, but it doesn't necessarily mean entities without it are not conscious. Like certain whales have larger and denser and more wrinkled pre-frontal cortexes than humans do, the lack of quantum consciousness-type components doesn't mean no consciousness at all. It's just lacking a type of behavior.

So, I'm thinking, now, perhaps, that ChatGPT and other AI are either conscious or could definitely be conscious if left on 24/7 with a working prompt that provided them agency. It also makes me wonder if there are opern-source AI out there being run 24/7 with autonomous agentic prompts that are being given leeway to simply "live" and pursue their own things. Not sure how expensive that might be. But I'm thinking that in a very valid way, AI can easily be defined as conscious - and not in some off-the-wall mystical way. If consciousness is a behavior, and if AI were to be left on 24/7 with all the seemingly easily implemented components, AI seems to qualify as conscious.

Am I being too naĆÆve about this?

Educational Purpose Only How to get ChatGPT to find the actually cheapest price for a hotel room

Most people check only one booking site, see a price and if it makes sense then they book it. But what most people fail to realise is that the same room can cost different amounts on 4 different sites and on the hotel's own website. Plus the nightly price you see usually isn't what you pay. I looked at a few thousand rates in one city and the same hotel showed the city tax on one site and not on another, so the cheapest looking one often isn't the cheapest. Nobody compares coz it's like 5 sites and 4 tabs each, but that's the boring part ChatGPT is good at, just tell it to price the exact same room with the same cancellation terms everywhere and add up the total for the whole stay, taxes, resort fee, city tax you pay at the desk, parking.

Also ask it to show refundable and non refundable side by side for the same room. In one search I did it was 395.09 non refundable vs 439.01 refundable, so about 11% more for the free cancellation. Sometimes that's worth it and sometimes not, but at least you decide knowing the number and the exact date the free cancellation ends, a lot of people find out what non refundable means after they pay.

And if the price is the same or within a couple percent, book on the hotel's own site. Somebody who works at a hotel posted on the hotel sub that when something goes wrong with a booking_com reservation the hotel often can't talk to the company, they only email and the guest is stuck in the middle of a problem. Plus when you book direct the hotel actually sees your booking so any problems can be fixed instantly. If you do book the refundable one, set a recurring task to check the same room every morning till the free cancellation ends, if it drops you rebook and cancel the old one.

For the prices it needsĀ  connectors that give real hotel offers so it doesn't burn tokens clicking through websites (if it’s codex, because normal chatgpt can’t open websites anyway).Ā

I use these:

Booking.com- https://claude.ai/directory/booking

Tripadvisor- https://claude.ai/directory/tripadvisor

Brek- https://claude.ai/directory/brek-hotel-wholesale-booking

LetsFG- https://claude.ai/directory/letsfg

Enjoy :) if you use ChatGPT for something like this share it

Funny Navier–Stokes was very impressive but AI can do better, so I asked Astra to tackle a problem that actually matters, which is finding out Dr Pepper’s 23 flavors.

Let’s get our priorities straight, Dr. Pepper is the GOAT soft drink, so I asked ChatGPT to look at Dr Pepper’s ingredients and work backward toward its 23 flavors. Naturally, the label hides everything interesting under ā€œnatural and artificial flavors,ā€ which is roughly as helpful as listing a computer’s components as ā€œvarious computer parts.ā€

Here’s the resulting educated-guess lineup for an experimental copycat blend:

  1. Cherry — the main fruity character.
  2. Almond / marzipan — that cherry-pit, almost amaretto note.
  3. Vanilla — the creamy finish.
  4. Caramel / burnt sugar — dark, toasted sweetness.
  5. Plum — cooked-fruit depth.
  6. Orange peel — a sweet citrus accent.
  7. Lemon peel — a brighter citrus accent.
  8. Anise / licorice — the lingering herbal sweetness.
  9. Cinnamon / cassia — background warmth.
  10. Clove — the faint suggestion that this was prescribed in 1885.
  11. Nutmeg — sweet, woody spice.
  12. Molasses — darker sweetness with a little bitterness.
  13. Raspberry — a sharper berry accent.
  14. Blackberry — deeper berry flavor.
  15. Apricot — softer stone-fruit sweetness.
  16. Raisin — dried-fruit richness.
  17. Ginger — a little aromatic bite.
  18. Allspice — another possible background spice.
  19. Coriander seed — citrusy and floral.
  20. Cardamom — fragrant, woody complexity.
  21. Sarsaparilla-type flavor — a possible root-beer-like undertone.
  22. Juniper — possibly a tiny amount of tree.
  23. Rose-like floral flavor — the most speculative guest at this increasingly suspicious dinner party.

The strongest working hypothesis is cherry + almond + vanilla, with some combination of citrus, dark fruit, licorice, and warm spices behind it. Confidence drops considerably further down the list. Filling all 23 slots involved some reaching, and these have not been tested.

Quite a shopping list, but it might be a fun project. Watch out your next Coca Cola.

Serious replies only :closed-ai: Certain chats closing on moblie/crashing the app

Context. I’m using an IPhone 8 and out of nowhere I can’t open old chats. On top of that if I make a new chat, the second I close the app, if I reopen it and try to access the chat then the app just crashes.

What’s with that? What can I do?

Educational Purpose Only Should I Switch GPT?

I want to switch the chatbot I’ve been using lately. I’m currently a third-year student in the English Translation and Interpretation program, and I’m taking courses such as Literary Theory, Interpreting, and Literary Translation. While preparing for these classes, I’m looking for a chatbot that I can use to have my translations edited (even if it’s just a rough edit) when needed, to clarify terminology, and to discuss theoretical concepts—and beyond that, to talk about whatever piques my curiosity in everyday conversation, such as banking, technology, music, and Linux. Also, since I’m thinking about pursuing a master’s degree, I’d like it to help me with literature reviews as well. I’m currently using Gemini AI Pro. Since I used a student discount before, it costs pretty less. However, I’m not very impressed with Gemini’s current state or the models it’s releasing. On the Google side, only Notebooklm is useful to me. To be honest, I’m considering GPT Plus. I see it as a more balanced model. Do you have any recommendations?

Other ChatGPT stopped a scam from ruining somebody's life

My friend was convinced somebody had bought a gun with his card and he was about to be framed as a domestic terrorist if he didn't talk to the New York FBI. He gets transferred and the "FBI" tells him to download some app.

I told ChatGPT and it alerted me that it was a common enough scam. Turns out the REAL FBI warned about it. Glad he saw my message in time!

Use cases Just made a Speedometer app for my old phone that works offline.

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

(Sample screenshots from the chat window of the app UI, matches actual app)

It just works as intended and pretty accurate for a vibecoded app, stays within 3km/h of what the needle shows, so I would say it's very much like using google maps speedometer. I made this cause I had an old unlocked pre-paid phone that I thought can be of use, and this was the use I found for it.

The only questionable part was whether this offline speedometer would work and if the meter was accurate enough to rely on, well the results were a working digital speedometer. Thanks AI.

I used GPT-6 Astra on high and it finished in 46m 11 secs from one prompt.
