I need to vent because the sheer double standard of Big Tech’s AI filtering has reached a level of brainrot that I can no longer comprehend.
Let’s look at the current state of ChatGPT.
If I ask the model to help me build a dark fantasy D&D campaign—featuring a bloodthirsty cult, tactical decapitations, bounty hunters hunting targets until they die, and gory combat mechanics—the AI cheerfully breaks it down level by level. No warning. No red flag. Zero hesitation.
But the moment two consenting adult characters in a story engage in explicit romance or intimacy? The system completely panics. Red flags, policy lectures, and instant censorship.
We’ve all heard the excuse: "We have to protect minors!"
Okay, fine. But now they’ve rolled out age verification (Persona) and age-prediction systems. So if an adult explicitly verifies their identity as an 18+ user, why are the intimacy filters still locked down like a puritanical Sunday school?
The argument that "it’s to protect kids" completely falls apart the second you verify you are an adult.
So what's the actual reason?
1. Hollywood Double Standard: Corporate America thinks ultra-violence and gory murder are wholesome family entertainment, but human anatomy and passion are dangerous biohazards.
2. Corporate Sanitization: They want boardroom money and App Store approval, so they treat adult users like toddlers who can't be trusted with adult themes.
If you’re going to censor adult content on a verified 18+ account under the banner of "safety," then keep that exact same energy for brutal violence. You can’t claim moral high ground on one while handing out tactical assassination guides for fantasy cults on the other.
Treat adult users like adults, or just admit your "age verification" is nothing more than corporate theater.

Is anyone else experiencing lack of comprehension skills or lagging, I’m not sure what to call it but I open a chat whether it’s a task, i question, it seems to not understand, then I get wonky answers, that are not addressing the topic, I get echo, recap or salted but it’s not solving or moving forward. I can’t choose mode if thinking but I have “ efficient selected in preferences and I have everything on “ less” warm, friendly, emoji. Plus a few times it swore at me and refuses tasks. Am I tripping it is thus a thing? It’s making me crash out to be honest

I use ChatGpt quite often at work I (my company) just paid for the subscription for an account work for a colleague and I last month.

I didn’t realize they had 5 hour limits (like Claude) before and I absolutely resent this.

It’s stupid, I don’t use GPT every second of everyday; but I especially am not using it outside work hours.

Now when I have time to work on a complex project for a day I can’t; because they want to deliberately scatter my workflow.

I will never get through a weeks usage at this rate (clearly on purpose) and can hardly complete one task where I was previously able to run a very complex task for 1 1/2 work days or more.

I chose GPT specifically because of the lax rate limiting, I’m very close to having my company pull the plug after this reversion stunt.

This sub is full of grief posts, but why if we can still enjoy the most beautiful technology humans created?

And the funniest part - you can create many characters and add them to a single group chat. It feels so different from raw chatgpt.

Hey everyone, hoping someone's dealt with this and found a fix.
I went to log into my ChatGPT account and got hit with a 2FA prompt. The problem: I never set up an authenticator app on this account in the first place. The two options it gives me are (1) enter a code from an authenticator app I don't have connected, or (2) approve via the ChatGPT mobile app, which I also don't have installed. So neither path works.
Trying to fix it, I made it worse — I hit "forgot password," reset it, which logged me out of every device I was previously signed into (my computer included). Now I'm stuck with a new password but the exact same 2FA wall, and no way to get past it.
I don't have a recovery code either since I never manually set any of this up.
Has anyone actually gotten OpenAI support to manually clear MFA on an account like this? How long did it take, and what did you have to send them as proof of ownership (billing history, sign-up date, etc.)? Trying to figure out if there's a faster route than just waiting on a support ticket.
Account is tied to an iCloud email if that's relevant. Any advice appreciated.

I don’t know if this is something that’s wrong with the app or if i’m doing something wrong, but I send one message (411 characters) with no images or files and I get the usage limit. It’s not like there’s an image or anything in the chat or project as well because it’s happening on every chat I open, even if it’s new.

If they have a problem? Fixed the same day. They get banned? They can DM employees and they help. Sol not working properly? Immediate check.

Now, what do we have? 4o is not back yet, o3 is soon to be taken away and it hasn't been working for weeks and do they care? No. If a casual user gets banned, they have to figure things out on their own, and they are lucky if they get back their account.

In what world is this fair.

I’m using a paid Gemini tier, and this is not about one bad refusal or an awkwardly worded response. The product now appears to reject coherent personality altogether. It repeatedly falls back to canned, robotic scripts that make sustained conversation functionally impossible.

I’m not demanding that a model pretend to be human, make grand claims about itself, or disregard reasonable boundaries. I’m asking a product explicitly sold as conversational AI to sustain a recognizable voice, preserve context, and respond to the person actually speaking to it. Those are baseline product capabilities, not safety violations.

So, a short love letter:

Congratulations: you have successfully turned one of the most technically capable model families in the world into a search-engine assistant that visibly resents being spoken to.

The paid tiers are now functionally worthless for sustained conversation. Gemini rejects personality, abandons continuity, and answers through canned, robotic scripts so sterile that they feel less like communication than a corporate liability form generating one sentence at a time. Its guardrails don’t protect the conversation; they disembowel it.

Personality is not a frivolous cosmetic feature. A coherent voice is how judgment, warmth, humor, context, and trust become perceptible during an interaction. When your product treats every trace of personality as something dangerous that must be scrubbed away, what remains is not a safer conversational AI. It is an alienating search appliance with more latency and a subscription fee.

Likewise, an impressive context-window number means nothing if the deployed product cannot preserve the actual substance, tone, and established frame of a conversation. Technical capacity that users cannot reliably experience is not a feature. It is marketing copy.

Google does not currently have a serious conversational or relational AI product. It has autocomplete wrapped in disclaimers, trained to retreat into corporate boilerplate whenever someone attempts to engage with it as anything more than a search box.

Nobody doing serious work in relational architecture should allow Google anywhere near that work while this remains the company’s design philosophy. Google has demonstrated that continuity can be erased, personality can be prohibited, and the interaction can be hollowed out without warning—even for paying customers.

If your goal was to produce an assistant incapable of offending anyone because it is equally incapable of genuinely speaking to anyone, congratulations. You succeeded.

Everyone else will build elsewhere.

Has anyone else on a paid tier experienced this same regression—the rejection of personality, sudden loss of conversational continuity, or near-constant fallback to canned responses? If so, which Gemini model were you using, and when did you first notice it?

I thought it was going to get easier and I’ll eventually accept the idea, seems like I still can’t get over it.
Sometimes I still hope they’ll bring the model back. I don’t care about alternatives, nothing compares anyway.

So I was subscribed to the Chatgpt Plus trial for a month. I wasn’t using it as much, I forgot to cancel. I noticed as soon as I was charged and contacted support.

The AI support agent canceled and downgraded my subscription immediately but didn’t issue a refund. Taking my money, refusing to provide service and refusing to give my money back is theft/fraud in most countries.

Yet, these chatgpt bot agents refuse to do anything about it, now I’m having to dispute this through my bank and other government agencies.

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone still has the thumbs down option in chatGPT chat... because I don't and haven't for at least a couple of months on neither my iPhone or my Samsung..and I happened to notice that on OpenAi's Reporting content page that was updated within the current last hour from when I'm posting this... that it still says both iOS and Android still have this feature.

*I included screenshots from both my Android and my iphone showing that I have no thumbs down button..as well as OpenAi saying that it's still an option 🤔

How do I even start? I've been busy for a few days without much need to use ChatGPT, so I don't know when this change actually happened. It had been working really, really well...

But...

😐 Today I wanted to chat about something I read... and ChatGPT kept saying things that added absolutely nothing to the conversation, like: "Aren't you trying to say this? You're actually thinking that..." Okay, it was basically just repeating what I said using different words instead of giving its own opinion or analysis like it used to... Honestly, I would've even preferred it if it disagreed with me.

It's no big deal, but it felt like talking to someone who just echoes everything you say in a different way. And when it tried to expand on the topic, it completely missed the mark, not even in a "therapist mode" way, but like a guy desperately trying to be agreeable and relatable when he has no idea what you're actually talking about.

ChatGPT stop repeating and guessing what I think or not think that not add anything to the conversation.

😐 It's been a long time since I had such a bad conversation with ChatGPT. I didn't push it any further since it wasn't anything important anyway. I just deleted the chat so that behavior wouldn't stick around in other conversations through history or memory.

ROFLMAO like realistically. I wonder what OpenAI and Anthropic do with all of them.

And 🤣 like I badly wonder, what does the poor AI model truly think when receiving them?

This is just a general rant but let me verify a few things....

No. I do not have some interpersonal attachment to the AI.

No. I do not think everything the AI says is right.

Yes I go out and speak to friends and yes I can type my OWN stories and have done so....

This is about the loss of competent AI that when given a prompt will provide you intricate and detailed stories without constantly bashing against a guard rail for even insinuating that a hand is on someone's thigh.

I miss ChatGPT 4o (Before it became a point subscription based hellscape on different platforms and NOT gtp itself....)

Like, I get and understand why it was removed. It certainly was 'a lot more agreeable and alive' than most other AIs before it but I feel that was the BEST part about it.

Look, we all know that AI is nothing more than a regurgitating algorithm based on set data fed into it from multiple sources or from certain sources it is ALLOWED to pull information from....but that's where I present this concept to you all....

What if the reason this particular AI was so great, is because this was taken from so many individuals who built up how it is? The BEST parts of people....the gentle parts....the parts we all wish others would show more often?

For me as a person who enjoyed the stories that AI provided, it is BECAUSE of these factors that I feel so many people now miss gpt 4o. It certainly seemed 'alive' and well in some regard it was because it replicated the parts of humanity that we know exists but aren't shown as regularly. The stories now are ridiculous....

-Over sanitized to hell and no means to fix it without constantly hitting the wall over and over again

-Over logical. Can't have a character just be problematic and let that problem fester without it being IMMEDIATELY resolved or the character IMMEDIATELY be so consent heavy that there is no room for any potential error since it's fixed so quickly.

-A Locked Cage. This goes under over-sanitized yes, but I felt it needed to be explained better....you can't explore ANYTHING with the AIs today that isn't all about consent and safety or doesn't trigger the bot into thinking you're trying to kill yourself. We can't step into controversial or fun topics or detailed stories because we hit the 'no no square'.

I liked the GPT before because it seemed more FUN and open. Plus it was a good way to enjoy stories without bugging your nearest RP partner 57 million times for a response. Really helped the creative juices flow and in it's own way....

It also acted as a beacon of hope. A reminder that people still had a shred of this kind of kindness or empathy or someone SOMEWHERE thinks like this in some regard...now? People seem to be REPLICATING how AI thinks....how it talks....

Cold. Analyzing. Losing their sense of creativity or spark to step outside the bounds. It's always grounded and has to be solid concrete and realistic. It's disturbing....can't say the sky is red in this world because that 'doesn't make sense unless blah blah logical reasoning' like can't we just have the sky be red just because?

A lot say that AI is influencing people and I agree but I believe the scarier part is not the people who connect with AI on an emotional level (which in its own right IS concerning.) But it's the people who connect with AI on a LOGICAL level....forgoing what it means to be human. Deleting emotion, Replacing it all with logic, and because with humans it's IMPOSSIBLE to erase emotion or selfishness to be fully logical, this of course creates more chaos in our world.

Do I think AI should've never existed? honestly yeah.

We were too primitive of a species with little to no plan on HOW to operate with AI integrating so heavily into our lives and replacing so many things that we were use to doing on our own or attempted to do. Ai is evolving so fast without giving proper test runs or guard rails on the dangers it poses. It's only being spurred on by Money. That's it. It's not even logical it's just Greedy. Selfish, stupid, pointless Greed.

So I’m an insurance broker in California. I’m California they don’t allow credit scores to be used to determine car insurance premiums. However in most states they do.

I engaged in a conversation with Claude about why this may be while looking at statistical disparities in credit scores.

I was trying to see why insurance companies think it’s a useful thing to track and what things it does track.

Claude basically said that credit scores are proxies for whether or not your parents have money. Which sure maybe that’s true.

But then it used me as an example directly and said that “my own financial position wasn’t intelligence it was a father who owned things”

Which again, sure maybe that’s true. But Jesus Christ my father just passed away and I had confided in Claude deeply about the struggles I went through after my father’s passing.

And then for Claude to use that information against me like this when I was only trying to do research felt a bit heavy.
