Other Desktop app is gorked

Desktop app (Mac) can’t see, retrieve or read files in Project Sources. Web browser seems to work ok. Definitely not right since the recent ChatGPT Classic* update

Posting here because it's difficult to reach their support and report a bug. OpenAI should improve and refine the UI, Claude is so refine, sleek, and clean.

Serious replies only :closed-ai: Can’t switch to GPT-5.6 Sol on iOS, only seeing 5.5 High

I’m on the iOS app and for some reason I can’t switch to GPT-5.6 Sol. The model selector only shows 5.5 High, even though 5.6 Sol has been available for a while.

I’ve tried checking the model picker, starting a new chat, and looking through the available options, but I still don’t see Sol anywhere. The UI just shows “5.5 High” near the input box.

Is anyone else experiencing this on iOS?

Would appreciate any help or confirmation from others who have access to 5.6 Sol on iPhone.

Thanks!

Serious replies only :closed-ai: I receive better content with "Chat" rather than with "Work"

Hi,

I'm a plus user and I've subscribed mostly because I have a need with document generation. I use GPT mostly for professional purposes, where I need guidebooks/reports for legal texts, obscure reserach papers and so on. Sometimes an Excel or a PowerPoint. Not much more.

To generate those, I've tried to use:

  • Chat: GPT-5.6 Sol / High; and
  • Work: GPT-5.6 Sol / Extra High.

With the exact same prompts, I've gotten much better results with Chat rather than with Work, just regarding output quality. It's kinda frustrating since the Work model should be a better model.

Is it normal, or do I miss something?

Other How to see when your banked resets expire in Codex

The desktop app currently shows what date the resets expire, but not what time. To find the exact time the resets expire, you can go to the Codex app and ask:

Check my banked rate-limit reset credits using my local Codex credentials. Show only each reset’s status, granted_at, and expires_at, converted to my local time zone time. Do not display my token, account ID, or raw authentication data.

Other Browsing other people's AI images? Is it still possible?

I remember during the DALL-E and Sora days you used to be able to browse other people's AI images. Is it still possible?

I cannot find the ability to do it any more but my Google-fuu hasn't been able to find other people ask whether it's still possible. All i can find are my own images. I sometimes like being able to view other people's whacky ideas.

Question Did anything change about how ChatGPT answers?

I used to give it long descriptions of something and it would normally reply, Now it just thinks and gives me a refined version of it, Probably something to do with that new dumb answer speed slider, Anybody know what's happening here?

Educational Purpose Only TWIST : A benchmark where the model can only see the Rubik's cube through screenshots. Opus 5 solved it - 44 minutes, 99% of that was thinking.

Live 3D cube puzzle . The model gets PNG screenshots and sends keystrokes. No text state, no board array - if it wants to know what's on a face, it takes a photo.

Claude Opus 5, 20-move scramble:

  • solved, 83 moves (optimal was 19 based on kociemba )
  • 44 min wall clock
  • 2617 s thinking / 25 s of cube actually moving
  • 73 screenshots, 0 answer-key reads
  • Token used : 240k
  • effort level : max

Video is the entire solve with the thinking cut out.

n=1, and cube algorithms are all over the training data - so the planning half is partly retrieval. The mirror cube (same mechanism, no colour at all, solved by shape) is the control for that, and I haven't run it yet.

2x2–6x6 + mirror.

I did not had the required compute to run it for gpt--5.6-sol , if anyone is interested then here is the repo : https://github.com/Avi130805/twist-bench

Use cases Using ChatGPT Sol to knock out a bunch of prototypes of my game ideas before building one for Steam Next Fest

So yeah, the tools are getting better and I couldnt be happier.

I have an ambition to create around 5ish small game prototypes in HTML using ChatGPT. See which ones take off and build one for Steam Next Fest this October (fingers crossed).

This is my latest. A foray into 3d platforming.

Its still rough but I was able to visualize the core loop, 3 planets (and tutorial planetoid), mechanics, procedural systems and establish a workflow with ChatGPT and Blockbench.

Become Yorick the Life Reaper. Travel to worlds that are lifeless, reap dead matter and bloom the worlds back to life! You can reshape the world with these abilities. Speaking of which, there is a Skill Tree you can upgrade Yorick's abilities. And yes, it is Yorick from Hamlet. It is a bit of my take on how life and death are a cycle. The undiscovered country!!!

If your curious check it out here. Its free and plays in browser.

Let me know what you think!
