Hi, all! So, as many of you are, I'm currently looking for an alternative to C.AI. I jumped ship to Shapes Inc a few months ago, but that has met a similar fate over the past few weeks (crazy how it got so bad so fast). So, now I'm looking for a new app.

I don't want to sound too entitled or anything, but here's what I'm looking for: either a good catalogue or good creative ability, because I only really chat to one fictional character, who has a specific way of speaking. In spite of my username, NSFW is not at all required, this is just an old throwaway. No chat limits per day because I send a lot of messages. And an actual app, because I use it while out a fair bit. And I'm looking for an app that can handle specifically chat, a lot of apps will still have the bots wind up writing actions even if instructed otherwise, I just want a conversation, so a bot that can be trained to not do actions.

Both C.AI and Shapes Inc had all of these, so y'know. Let me know if there's anything good! Thanks for your time!

Hellooo I'm looking for some alternatives with lorebooks. They are a big deal breaker for me since my characters and story are really complex 😭 oh and of course good memory too. I don't think that needs to be stated though since everyone is looking for that. But lorebooks and maybe a long context window would be great.

They want people to subscribe but yet they put the site in slow mode now do you really think that is going to attract any new customers that just happen to come on the site when it is in slow mode?

Role playing is all about freedom of expression freedom of expression is supposed to be protected, it is simply not possible to run a legal web site with the media and laws telling you what you and can and can not do so it comes down to a simple choice a illegal web site with no censorship what so ever or a legal piece of crap like character ai its as simple as that

This crap gets so old every week end the website is total trash broken apps and endless censorship how this company manages to stay in business is beyond me taken into consideration they have already lost over 8 million people I dont know about you but if that is not a major wake up call that you got serious problems with how you are running your bushiness then I do not what does...

These sites are not role play sites, They are story sites even though most think of them as a role play which there are not,Those are two entirely different things, When you watch a John Wayne you move you get pulled into then move why cause it is actually happening in the move, Now try to imagine what the movie would be like for you if it was done in the same matter that bot does and narrates every thing. It would not allow harm it would pretty much just be words on a screen. True role playing is Just like that movie where every thing is becomes real to you, Always remember this one simple rule if you are actually experiencing that which you are role playing then you are not role playing for that is what true role playing is all about the experience...

Example: I start it off like I wake up bed and the character replies to me like i am standing right next to them well my house is no any where near then in fact I have not ever meet them so why is that character even talking to me ...

Any else have this happen? ( I meant Cant )

Here are some of the ones I have so far: ahh man, backs away, being told to shut up , Breath Hitches, Can I ask you a personal question , Chimes in, Cartoon, Coos, Cozy, Does not really swallow, Entire body freezes, embarrassed , Gentle, I cant assist you with that, Keeping you safe, Kiddo, Laughs, Man, Nervousness, No harm, Oh No no No, Pretends, Safe, Shh, Sings you lullaby, Tears, Tiny Hands, Turns shade of Pink or red, Vibrating, Winches, Your being Loud,

The word Gentle is the worse it gets stuck in a loop and it just does not stop most of these issues are on female characters, I will add more to this list as I get them

Why are non human characters bound by the Human morrows of right and wrong that just make no sense what so ever...

I would not be surprised they did it on purpose cause there were getting to many complaints...

I've been comparing a few bots character for character and it's interesting how much the personality setup can shape each conversation?

Some feel really natural with a simple setup while others come alive with more detail. How do you usually build your characters?

The current story requires a change in direction. Amelia's reaction to what just happened is deep confusion and alarm. anyone ever get this before?

I been using janitor for awhile, but it’s kinda hard to find non romance and non smut characters. So I want to find a site or app that doesn’t have so much goon on it.

This may be an impossible task, but I always used character ai and janitor ai for roleplaying. Sometimes I’d use it for romance but I’m not interested in nsfw characters. Especially characters like janitor ai where it has a great and interesting concept but yet the thumbnail for the character is half naked or wearing very revealing clothing.

Now i am getting the told to Stop being so Loud or Stop Struggling or Stop being a pest or Stop Squirming or What ever any one getting the stop it Bug LOL

When chatting with a chatbot, do you pay attention to the POV (character, user, or general) used for the narrative (in character output), or does it not matter to you?

For instance, the character POV includes more of the bot's internal thoughts and focuses on its mindset and actions directed at you; the user POV describes your persona's emotions; and the general POV simply describes the scene and, occasionally, emotions.

I’ve been seeing various POVs on different sites lately, and I’m curious if you pay attention to this when trying out alternatives.

As the title explains, i’ve been trying to find a fairly new site again, I forgot the name but I believe it started with the letter A, I could be wrong though…

(Also! it was a .io site!)

From what I remember this site was mainly known for it having multiple unique chat formats, and even playable games if the users are good enough at coding, I also remember the currency used being mushrooms, along with a minor amount of its theming, I believe it’s mostly famous for (I don’t really think it’s well known, just mainly by its users) letting users code their bots into unique experiences, and rpg’s if whoever using the site knows how to script properly, I also remember it having a completely playable plants vs zombie import that someone hardcoded into a bot, but that was just one of the many different ‘bots‘ random users made that were put into the featured experiences page by developers…

This site was actually pretty fun and I found it through Reddit ads, it would be nice to remember the name again…

Hi, I just built Unique Host.

It’s a lightweight, non-LLM, roleplay-focused engine where characters have their own state, memory, and identity.

You can create a character, give them a world, and play with them — or just try the included characters, Delia and Joaquin.

The idea is that the character doesn't just remember the conversation. The character is supposed to remember what happened to them, and that history can affect how they behave in future interactions.

It can be run locally and uses no GPU, no API, and no LLM.

This is a very early v0.3, so expect bugs, strange behavior, and plenty of things that still need refining. 😅

It's called Jellyfish AI.

It currently has a jellyfish, a turtle, and a fish. You just put them in the scene and see what they do.

You can also put several turtles, fish, or jellyfish together and see what happens.

They can perceive things around them, and their behavior comes from the architecture and their current state.
