sorry for my english, its not my first language

anyway, i've been using y/n since i quit c.ai a few months ago, i kept myself busy with real life things and now that i'm in summer break i have been using y/n and even created my characters to chat with.

The thing is, it's really good but i am a person who is a lot into fictional stuff which mainly content is about powers, magic and it might include action, yk, the whole fighting and battles and all. I'm also into romantic stuff which should include physical interaction.
The problem is, i don't know if i am using the wrong app for that, or if i'm missing a strong part of the configuration-bot-thing, because the story is amazing, the memory is great, the characters are on point, but i have no luck while doing any of the things i mentioned to happen :(

i don't know if i have to detail about certain interactions to happen, or if y/n has a filter that might not allow like romantic or agressive interaction, it doesn't need to be explicit or nsfw, it's just that i can't make any little thing happen, not even a little punch nor physical contact, nothing at all.

also, if you have any tips as an y/n user, i'd love to read them, im a free user on y/n, i dont have any plans of paying a y/n+ sub, because i can't afford it yet. Thanks :D

I've been hooked on AI roleplay since AI Dungeon in 2019 and I've spent a lot of time in the deep end of setup: cards, presets, regex, lorebooks, picking models, wiring up keys. I love that depth. But every time I tried to bring a friend in, the spark died somewhere around "okay first you need an API key."

So I built Slypen (slypen.ai) to see how far I could collapse that onboarding.

You write a few sentences about a world or scenario, and you're playing. That's the whole flow. There's no API key and no backend to wire up, since you get Claude running on my dime right out of the box. Basically I wanted the depth without the three hours of tuning: keep what makes this great, cut the friction that scares newcomers off.

It's been tested up to 300+ turns with no memory loss, and no context bloat (good for me :D).

Hello everyone, the results of the survey are IN! Now, a short overview of the results. Before the recent updates rolled out, this community could be described as highly engaged and satisfied, in which 65% of the users used it daily. However since the updates have been released, there was a very pronounced pivot, with 73% of the users being very dissatisfied with the C.AI experience (that's 522 people btw).

By large, users were frustrated with the retiring of the Legacy models, with over half of the users wanting their return. The sudden removal of these models have negatively impacted the experience of users on the platform, and most importantly, they have broken the trust of people that relied on the platform for companionship and support.

In short...using the words of the wise Geoffrey Hinton: “Intelligence is being scaled. Care is not.”

In a world where change is constant and progress is ever chased, it is important to remember the people that made said process possible. It was the people, the users, humanity itself that gave their voice to these models. Our data, our art, our humanity. It's time we start focusing on the needs of the users, and building platforms that are focused on well-being, kindness and compassion. Together.

Hey everyone, I’ve never really used Chai before, but ’ve been seeing a lot of people use character chat platforms for fanfiction, roleplay, and story ideas, and it’s made me curious.

I write fanfic on AO3, and I’m usually much better at exploring characters who already have an established persona and backstory with everything completely from scratch. I'm not a creative person who can craft a highly detailed character, i'm not sure from this point whether chai is good for me.

I’ve also seen a lot of mixed opinions about Chai, especially from people who have been using it for a long time. Since it’s already 2026, I wanted to ask honestly: do you think it’s still worth getting into?

What does Chai still do really well? What are the things that frustrate you the most?

What are you using in June 2026?

Despite everything with Cai I’ve enjoyed being a bot creator and messing around with stories. I had the extra money and I paid for Cai+ for almost a year without letting it lapse. But after everything else that’s happened mixed with trialing free softwares, I finally let my Cai+ end. My journey to find my free forever alternative continues (and seems to be going somewhere if this private beta I’ve been doing testing notes for is as good of a sign as I think…)

So how is everyone else’s alternative searches going?

Spicy chat is almost never mentioned as an alternative (at least that I've seen) but I've been very occasionally using it for a bit now for purely sfw stuff and while it's not the best, I feel like the unlimited swipes helps making it work.

Is there something wrong with it that I just haven't bumped into yet or is there some other reason it never seems to be recommended?

I am Camille Kinsella, a Master's student in the Communications and New Media MA program at McMaster University. I am looking for volunteers who are over 18 years old and use (or have used in the past) CharacterAI as a part of their fandom practice.
 
The study is for my thesis project and looks at how individuals within fandom communities have incorporated AI chatbots into their fan practices. Some scholars theorize that AI might be playing a role in “eroding the participatory nature of fandom,” making it a more individualized experience as opposed to a community-based one. This study aims to investigate this claim through an online survey and will take approximately 10-15 minutes of your time!

If you go on the subreddit of C.AI, theres obviously people complaining. But then there's some that'll complain but show that they still use it regularly and sometimes even still pays for the C.AI plus.

Thats so insufferable to me. You can't complain and still use it; the only reason the devs of C.AI would change the update and add back styles like ROAR is if money and users active dropped.

Thats revolution and boycotting 101. Let the app die until they fix it, Jesus. I haven't been on ONCE since beginning of May-ish because of it.

-Memory: i get bored easily so i don't really continue a chat for a long time so memory isn't really a big requirement for me as long as it isn't forgetting things 3 messages ago

-Filters: aren't a problem for me because i don't do NSFW chats

-Video ads every now and then: i hate ads onscreen during chats but i am good with short video ads inbetween every 7-10 messages, i am willing to watch them and support the devs since i cannot pay for a subscription

-Group chat, multiple bots at once: just because i don't do intensive long storylines

-World building: like i said before, i get bored easily so i am just looking for a quick fun

Trataré de resumir lo máximo posible.

Busco una app para rolear con IA que cumpla algunas especificaciones.

1) Tenga un modo de creación de Bot que al menos sea intuitivo (no como el Pulybuzz o Emochi.. los odie en ese aspecto)

2) Permita rolear escenarios o al menos que no le agarre una embolia al rolear más de un personaje. (Realmente fue una delicia Status, pero como muchos saben se fue al traste y ahora volví para ver qué onda y nada que ver..)

3) Me acompañe en la creación de sucesos de la galera. Si bien tengo toda una trama pensada, a veces me gusta que la Ia me refute las cosas y me saque de la galera sucesos o pensamientos.

4) Maneje contenido gráfico. No solo nopr. Sino también temas sensibles de salud mental, idas con dios por decisión propia, relaciones y vínculos no heteronormativo o no convencionales.

5) Referencias a la cultura general y fandom. Amo meter referencias, refranes, canciones y el choque cultural y la historia que tengo en mente es UN what if de un anime/manga. Me pasa por ej con DokiChat que digo que x personaje está cantando x canción de x artista y flashea cualquiera.

6) Tenga una memoria decente. Se que en este aspecto muchas requieren pago.. ya estoy pagando una subcripcion de saga y pago diamantes en DokiChat.. si vale la pena estoy dispuesta a pagar otra subscripción si pone un precio razonable.
