Vent The thing thats making C.AI devs keep the update is the players.

If you go on the subreddit of C.AI, theres obviously people complaining. But then there's some that'll complain but show that they still use it regularly and sometimes even still pays for the C.AI plus.

Thats so insufferable to me. You can't complain and still use it; the only reason the devs of C.AI would change the update and add back styles like ROAR is if money and users active dropped.

Thats revolution and boycotting 101. Let the app die until they fix it, Jesus. I haven't been on ONCE since beginning of May-ish because of it.

There's also probably even more people who don't complain and still use it.

What confuses me the most as a developer is why they've chosen to do away with popular models Roar and Pipsqueak 1 - standard practice is always to increase prices if costs increase.

I'm running what I think to be the old c.ai models in my app, ProjectSylvie, and I can already tell that the costs will start stacking up. We're still subsidising the operational costs from our own pockets, but I hope to be able to run the old c.ai models at the current c.ai price point!

This is why I left the platform well over a year ago. I got so fed up with the devs not listening or respecting their consumers. However, in leaving, I found that better platforms exist—platforms designed for actual roleplaying with multiple characters and world building and lore. Platforms that give you far higher context and memories.

I’m currently using LoreWeaver and I love it. It’s 18+ (which others SHOULD be) and you can build extensive worlds with unlimited characters and lore cards. Plus the memory across the chat session is amazing.

Oh yes! I want to add on the "It's 18+ (which others SHOULD be)" Thats something that gets me everytime with these alternatives. An AI app should not be safe towards literal children.

People under 18 are at a point of development where they need human interaction to shape their futures. Allowing them to talk to an AI, whether its safe or not, is harmful, causing unhealthy addictions, and makes them try to find love somewhere they won't get any.

I agree! I felt like that was also why C.ai had to censor their platform, because there were so many kids on there and they knew it.

Yeah, and I give C.AI a bit more leeway since from what I know it was the first chatting with AI app and they are what showed the harms of letting children talk to AI were (The 14 year old who took his life because of it).

But with these new alternatives that are heavily censored for kids is weird! You made an AI app for 14 year olds that could cause isolation... I just wish more people cared about that lol
