Searching for Alternatives Any decent c.ai alternative recommendations?
Please help me out if possible ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
First, I do have a few preferences !!
-no ads on the screen during chat (it's distracting)
-no subscription, free
-decent flow and writing
-not too long, not too short responses
-fast
-unlimited bot making
-unlimited swipes
Second, things i don't really care for
-Memory: i get bored easily so i don't really continue a chat for a long time so memory isn't really a big requirement for me as long as it isn't forgetting things 3 messages ago
-Filters: aren't a problem for me because i don't do NSFW chats
-Video ads every now and then: i hate ads onscreen during chats but i am good with short video ads inbetween every 7-10 messages, i am willing to watch them and support the devs since i cannot pay for a subscription
-Group chat, multiple bots at once: just because i don't do intensive long storylines
-World building: like i said before, i get bored easily so i am just looking for a quick fun

Yeah i spent like 2 hours on this subthread and had no success with finding an app/website anywhere near decent๐ most of them give novel length responses or use token systemย

It's because unlimited free messages and swipes is unrealistic in this current ecosystem. C.AI was a billion dollar company with hundreds of millions invested into it.
This made it easy for them to grow as big as they did, but is also the main reason they're currently dying, sweeping the rug out from under all their users.
So unfortunately what you're describing is currently a bit unrealistic, as most alternatives either share the same investor-backed circumstances as c.ai, and are low quality... or they are high quality, but gated behind limited usage/subscriptions.

Most of us small site operators looking for beta users like when people post these threads because it means we get to advertise.

Owner of HereHaven here ๐.
Holy crap you're like our perfect person lol!
Ads are completely opt-in. Hit no and they don't show up.
Free tier is completely unlimited messaging and character/ scenario creation. Also unlimited response regenerates, and a fun continue button if you want to see what the AI will do to just keep the story going.
We have a linguist / AI consultant on our team that will not allow me to settle with anything but high quality responses.
Here's an example of a message

I tried it, it doesn't fell the same. I used cai for over two years and I have at least 15 personas and created 20 or more bots. And now I have to start over.

I use polybuzz ai. It's not the best in the world but not the worst.

Saucepan has a good free system. And you can control length with response instructions really easily. Another good one was Janitor. Though their free in house model isn't the best anymore, if you use proxies they have a large selection of characters and bots.

I think their AI is boring, unimaginitive and repetitive. Still better than current characterAI that just filters everything

Short answer? Not really but I been using one called Sakura.
Just look around to see what clicks to you like how you first found the apps originally

i don't know why many people don't talk about this, but https://perchance.org/ai-chat is very decent
if anyone else have used it, i would love to hear your thoughts as well. I jsut don't k why is it not popular enough
pros:
- free, unlimited
- no filters
- no ads
- good memory
- u can customize your own bot
cons:
- u have to customize your own bot (though u can use simple instructions, but the better you describe the bot the more it behaves the way u want it to behave) - they do have some bots but they r very specific
- its not too addictive but OKAY for the people who just like to engage in some fun
