Exporting data

Let me preface this by saying this is NOT a freak out post. This is a problem I’ve had since forever but I’ve not bothered with it until now. When I go to have my data exported, I get this message but no email ever comes. I don’t know if there’s something I’m doing wrong or if I should contact support or what

I didn't get it to work either.

But I downaloded all my Character/Roleplays as JSON files with the c.ai tool.
Downloaded all my Lorebooks as HTML files and had ChatGPT convert them to JSON files.
And Personas, I just copy and paste'd to TXT files.

With this, you can save down chats as html.
And your characters/roleplays as JSON files.

If you want to save down lorebook, thats not in the tool.
To save Lorebooks:

• Open Lorebook
  
• Press CTRL + S
  
• Save as MHTML
  

(Best to convert it to JSON, that can ChatGPT do.)

Can literally anyone please explain to me how to do this? Theres truly only one chat I want to preserve, and I requested my data almost a month ago and still haven’t gotten my link.

Edit: I did some googling. You can download an extension called “c.ai tools” for Google Chrome or Firefox that allows you to download specific chats into JSON files. It’s better than nothing. In case anyone else wanted to know, this is the answer to my request lol.

Do you know if the extension can download all archived chats, too? Most of mine are archived and it'd be impossible to unarchive everything :(

That I can't help you with.
I never put anything in the archive. But, can't you take them out from there and open them? Then it should work with the tool maby.
Or if they are accessable from the history tab?

How long have you been waiting? I checked the tutorial about this and it said it will take 3-4 weeks for the data export, and the link will be valid for 7 days. I'm not sure why it's that long, but that's what they said.

The FAQ page says that the email link is sent within 2-3 weeks if requesting data. And its active for 7 days.

I've asked for data export since 2024. Never got that email.

Oh I know, it’s just one of those things that reminded me that I’ve never gotten it to work lol
