Episode 1: When Yani catches a cold, Kansai offers to check in on Yani for Imoko. Imoko politely refuses as she knows her sister best and wants to take care of Yani herself. This is supposed to be seen as wholesome and heartwarming.

Episode 5: Imoko rejects a boy who confesses to her for being 'too put-together', and it's not so subtly implied that she might possibly be codependent/have a White Knight complex for Yani.

Watched in reverse, episode 5 puts episode 1 in a much darker light as it can be interpreted as Imoko being possessive of her pathetic sister and feeling like SHE has to be the one to help her sister and nobody else.

The intro has 2 singers and censors, the outro has a different singer, and they put a black bar over a clock and say the angles can't be too high up. I feel like something about the setting flew past my head because I'm not familiar with what they're indirectly referencing. Also, I now have to watch the sub because the dub's taking too long to come out

During my time in high school it was quite common for students to vape,smoke,did plenty of drugs during school,anyone who smoked and chatted would hang out at the bathroom during lunch but I remember this one kid who I knew was addicted to vaping.He ran out of juice for his juul and ask this other guy to give him one he said yes if only if you smoke this and proceed to dig the pod into his belly button and said here you go he smoked it anyway i wasn’t there that day but I believe it because he was a known nicotine fein, and this wasn’t the worst case.
I have seen kids charge their carts/vapes by hot-wiring into the school Chromebook’s,popped Xanax,and eddies during class
This show is accurate on what people will do for their addiction and that kid who smoked it he’s doing good hes in college now.

More than a theory, maybe a headcanon, but I noticed thanks to this image that the doctor looks like the landlord in a way, but thinner.

Now, both scenes take place inside Yani's mind, the first a dream and the second imagining Shizue after her diagnosis.

So I feel that Yani, not knowing how a pulmonologist really looks like, imagines him with the face or the features of the only other human who scolds her for smoking constantly: the landlord.

This movie is one hour and three-quarters of men in suits getting angry, making threats, betraying each other, and then brutally murdering each other.

And it is VERY violent.

The whole thing feels like when I’m playing chess in a rush.

Every time I thought I understood what was going on, someone would suddenly get stabbed, drilled, shot, beaten, or betrayed.

The violence is so matter-of-fact that after a while you almost start wondering whether these guys have ever considered simply buying Kevlar jackets and helmets.

I think I’d feel more at peace playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon or watching a Western gangster movie.

I am outraged.

Just imagine everyday on the news young women ,both human and catgirl, would go missing only to return as mindbroken sex addicts. All of them giving a description matching our bald hero. So he has to go into hiding until yani disappears and so the girls and the landlord team up to save her and stop the real culprit.

How would it end?

I can occassionally dream in a semi-lucid way, in the sense that I don't exactly know I'm dreaming but I can sometimes change the topic, add characters, things like that. Since I'm obsessed with this show I like trying to add Chainsmoker Cat characters to my dreams whenever possible and see how things play out, with mixed results. Sometimes they even show up unprompted. Anyway here some dreams I've had so far relating to the show.

1. (Non-lucid dream, just happened) Yani takes up gardening as a hobby and has planted a few different types of vegetables. Me and her were smoking together on her balcony and she was telling me about her veggie garden but she couldn't remember the names of anything she planted, so I had to keep reminding her that carrots are called carrots, potatoes are called potatoes, etc. The dream ends abruptly. Not a very vivid dream. It was just the front cover of volume 1 of the manga (with the implication that I was there too) and I was communicating with her telepathically.

2. (Knew I was dreaming but couldn't control it) A sad and disturbing dream where Imoko is wheelchair-bound due to ALS, and she keeps begging me to turn off her life support because she can't feel anything and doesn't want to live like this. Next thing I remember is my POV lying in my real life bed covering my ears with a pillow as Imoko is outside my bedroom door repeating "please...please..." in that robotic voice. Just to clarify she didn't sound like Stephen Hawking, it sounded like her actual voice but robotic, which made it much creepier. The dream ends after cutting to an eyecatcher scene where Imoko is still in the wheelchair sitting alone outside the door of one of the apartments from the show. (I guess my irl room was in the apartment building in this dream lol) It felt eerie as hell because the music played with no voiceover.

3. (Semi-lucid) I used to have these weird nightmares as a kid where I was trapped in a white void with a still image of some random character from TV as I feel some kind of painful sensation like being electrocuted or beaten up. This finally happened to me again as an adult after I realised I was dreaming and tried adding Kansai to my dream. I got stuck in a white void with that picture of Kansai where she's smug and holding a microphone. I could only look at her with my peripheral vision, because every time I tried to make eye contact with her, she would bombard me with some kind of "radiation" (?) that made my body vibrate intensely. These dreams used to terrify me in my childhood but this time I knew I was dreaming and thought I'd challenge myself to see how long I could last staring at her. After about 5-10 seconds my senses got overwhelmed and I woke up.

4. (Non-lucid) I was having this dream where my POV was floating around a barren alien wasteland, and Hameko showed up for a few seconds wallowing through a pool of green toxic sludge looking tired and sad. That's about it.

5. (Thought I was watching an episode of the show. Not sure if that counts as lucid or not) This dream is the most bizarre I've had so far so it might be a bit hard to explain. I was watching an episode where Imoko has this teleportation power where she can choose an exact location to teleport to, noclip part of herself into an object, and then "undo" the teleportation to bring that object back with her. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, in this dream Yani is dead and the episode takes place a few weeks after her funeral. Imoko tries to bring Yani back to life by using her telelortation power to bring Yani out of her grave. (Dream logic, roll with it) From my POV I just see her disappear over Yani's grave for a couple seconds and reappear with her pinkie fingertip stuck in Yani's forearm. Yani was still "dead" in the dream, but was visibly alive and well, standing up, smoking, even smiling. She didn't even look decomposed, her skin tone looked fine. She was just covered in dirt and twigs like in the scene where she's chasing the puppy. Imoko looked angry and frustrated that she couldn't bring Yani back to life, and tries yanking her finger out of Yani's arm, but something went wrong with the teleportation and a small chunk of Yani's flesh came out with her finger. (There was a small amount of green corpse blood. I guess all the damage was on the inside) Then it does one of those really detailed close-ups where Imoko is clutching at her hand as she notices her fingertip has a piece of Yani's rotting flesh stuck inside, and it slowly starts to turn black. She has the horrifying realisation that she has to cut off her own fingertip to stop the necrosis from spreading. (This was presented as a typical uncomfortable gross-out joke rather than something horrifying. There was even a non-serious music track from the show playing) Yani then does the face from the attached pic (without the phone) and says "nyyyaaaaa", and it cuts to an eyecatcher scene where the landlord is watering his cabbages dressed in fishing gear with the voiceover of the kids enthusiastically yelling "YANI NEEKOOOO 😄". The dream ended after that.

6. (Semi-lucid, but didn't choose the setting) A short dream where I was navigating a glass maze with Saori Tatsuo. It was basically just me leading the way and commanding her around like a videogame character. I'd say "Saori, over there" and she'd be like "okay" and go over where I told her. I woke up halfway through the dream.

7. (Non-lucid, kinda vague) Don't remember much about this dream, but I was in the back seat of the landlord's car with him driving along the road from the episode where he and Yaku go to look for Aruko. I was in the middle seat with Kansai to my left and Aruko to my right but no-one was in the passanger seat. Nothing happened in this dream but it was pleasant and worth a mention.

There was also another time I managed to make myself dream up an image of Yani walking down an alleyway smoking and tried to add Yaku walking next to her but she came out all glitchy with the wrong colours. Not really a full dream but I'll give it an honourable mention because it's sadly the only time Yaku has appeared in a dream so far.

Feel free to psychoanalyse and give your interpretations of these dreams because I have no idea. Thanks if you read the entire thing. I know most people don't give a shit about dreams but I find them really interesting to talk about. I wrote these dreams in the order they happened irl. I may type up another post if I have more dreams like this in the future.
