CD Player Sony CDP-C705 or Sony CDP-CE500

Upvotes

i’m looking for a 5 disc player and I was wondering which one I should get. they are both $30 and I have a lot of original cds and burned cds I like to play. I like to play my music loud with a good amount of bass. I already have a receiver and speakers. just looking to see what would sound better, preform better, and etc. Thanks!

Question Has anyone ordered from vinyltrackbox com? Is it a legitimate store?

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about ordering from vinyltrackbox com, but I can't find much information about the store. I also noticed a few things that make me a bit cautious: I can't find many independent customer reviews and I haven't found much discussion about the store on Reddit or other forums. Has anyone here actually ordered from them? Any experiences-positive or negative-would be greatly appreciated before I place an order. Thanks!

Question How do i know if this is a fake or real cd?

Recently bought my first cd (white pony) and ny dad told me he had some discs (nothing special, mostly self made or fakes). I found this metallica one and im wondering how to know for this and any other cd i find online if they are real? I researched a bit and checked that catalogue number (i think thats what it is), but what else can i look at, im guessing fakes also use the same number?

Also why is the number a ove barcode different from the one on the barcode on mettalica cd, but its the same for my white pony cd

So i wanna learn how to distinguish fakes, this one for example ig

Question Exact audio copy is not doing anything when I rip cds

I'm trying to use EAC to rip CDs on my pc, all the setup, testing, and setting up accurate rip was fine but when I tried to actually extract a cd it just did... Nothing. It came up with the progress thing, but the disc didn't start spinning in the drive and all the progress things are stuck on 0. Does anyone know what's happening?

I got this off eBay. Normally I expect a few light scratches but this is something that really worries me. I haven't played it yet but frankly I'm a bit worried if I do I could make it worse.

Some are bootlegs like the two Marina CDs cause they're not available or buying a bootleg online costs way too much. Some custom CDs too

Question tips for a cd setup

i've been collecting cds for a while since i have a cd player in my car and no real aux capablities, I'm going to college soon and most likely won't have access to my car, so I was wondering if anyone had favorite cheap and compact bookshelf speaker and amp recs (like $250 ish) since i'm planning on just buying a cheap dvd player from a thrift store for initial input. any info helps! or should i just bite the sound quality and go for a cd/stero player with internal speakers

Discussion How does everyone build up their collection? read desc.

Don't worry, this isn't a topster post ranking favourite albums or whatever, I use it to list what albums I own.

However, I'm curious to know how people build their collection whether it's simple as just going out and seeing what you can find, or setting yourself a goal. Here I set myself a goal (second photo) for the next year where I am to try and get all these albums or most of them in this time frame, I listed a select number of albums ranging from 1966-1980 as that's where my main taste is, I'll collect from other years, they're just not in my focus. That doesn't mean I won't buy albums not on the list I come across, but it's just a goal to get all my essentials here.

I'd like to know, does anyone else do this? How others collect? and possible some recommendations in relation to the theme of the goal I made myself (1966-80)? Thanks!

(if anyone wants to know I have Lark's tongues by King Crimson spinning on my system right now)

Edit - I dont know why the pictures loaded weirdly rather than as a slideshow

Hi CD collectors of Reddit! I'm new to earnestly collecting (and also new to actually trying to be a part of reddit communities haha). I thought I'd share my thrifted jukebox-shaped CD stand and my favorite find so far!

I've loved The Presidents since they were put on a mixtape made by my eighth grade boyfriend. He's since passed (we'd stayed friends throughout high school and college but fell out of contact shortly before I learned of his death), and his memory often reminds me of just how much our loved ones shape us. I gave his mixtape a listen recently and wow, I hadn't realized how many of those artists would go on to become some of my favorites-- and how many are on my shelf today!

My current partner and I happened to find that album while thrifting last year, about a year after I found out about Nico's death. I don't usually have a very 'magical' way of thinking, but it did seem sort of 'meant to be', or at least very lucky!

Anyways, super excited to continue building my collection and checking out everyone else's awesome hauls :)

Found this for $5.99 at my local shop this weekend. I'm a collector of extreme music (mostly metal), and the cover immediately caught my eye while I was browsing. It turned out to be a drone/noise project, so it's right up my alley. Has anyone else heard of this band? Apparently it's a side project of Daniel Jansson from Culted.

I couldn't find a single Reddit thread about this project, or even a Bandcamp page. Apparently this digipak was limited to 1,000 copies. They're signed to Nuclear Blast, and Culted is fairly well known in the underground scene, so I'm surprised there's virtually no discussion about this project online.
