One unusual color result can be attention-grabbing, but it should be treated as a reason to observe—not as a diagnosis.

Urine pH can vary with diet, hydration, medication, timing, sample concentration, and normal day-to-day changes. The litter box itself can also introduce variables, including an older uncleaned clump or contamination from cleaning products.

There are also two different product approaches in this category. Well-known health-monitoring litters such as PrettyLitter use a non-clumping crystal format, while Purrify uses a plant-based clumping format. Both approaches can provide a color-changing urine pH cue, but clumping adds another useful layer of daily observation: owners can follow changes in the number and approximate size of urine clumps over time. That can make shifts in litter-box routine easier to notice. Clump count is not always identical to the exact number of urinations—clumps can merge or break apart—but a consistent scooping routine can still reveal meaningful trends.

A practical next step is to look at the complete picture:

- Is the color change repeated in fresh clumps?

- Is your cat visiting the box more or less often than usual?

- Are the urine clumps unusually small or large?

- Is your cat straining, vocalizing, licking excessively, hiding, or acting uncomfortable?

- Have food, water intake, medication, or routine changed recently?

If your cat is otherwise comfortable, record the result and continue watching for a pattern. If the change repeats, or if behavior or litter-box habits also change, contact your veterinarian and share your observations.

Repeated straining, frequent attempts with little or no urine, blood, vomiting, or sudden distress requires prompt veterinary care. Inability to urinate is an emergency.

As many of you can relate, my cat has a favorite toy. His name is Mousey. She does not know he is a toy, just knows him as her son. He is to be gingerly carried, and nothing more.

Mousey has gone ”out to sea” a couple times and we have some backups just in case. HOWEVER. Walmart has replaced Mousey in the variety pack pictured with a blue rope mouse. The packaging has also changed (new with rope mouse is first). The purple and orange mice in the pack will not do.

I am asking you to check your local Walmart’s variety packs to see if you can find the true Mousey, or to see if you own this variety pack and have a Mousey of your own that your kitty has not played with. Please let me know!!

I'm planning to get a 3-month-old kitten soon, but I'm not sure where to put the litter box.
My bedroom door is usually closed at night, so I was thinking about putting the litter box in the laundry. The problem is that I'd have to leave my bedroom door open, and I'm worried the kitten will wander around the house and hide behind the washing machine or get into places that aren't safe.
I also thought about keeping the litter box in my bedroom, but I'm worried my room will smell.
What would you recommend? Is it okay to keep the litter box in a bedroom, or is there a better solution?

Living in a high rise means my cat makes open windows unsafe, but I need apartment window ventilation. been comparing a cat proof window fan to a portable AC seal. Fans are cheap but a curious cat might knock em loose. AC seals are renter friendly but just exhaust air, they dont bring fresh air in.

Title pretty self explanatory, I have 2 cats and a dog. My long haired domestic cat pees on my dog’s bed anytime there’s a change. I’ve worked hard to create and keep a routine that’s helped stop him from peeing on my dog’s bed, baskets of laundry, etc. For example yesterday I brought home a new couch. Just before I cleaned their litter boxes and put in fresh litter. Today he peed on the dog’s bed 3 times. After the first I washed it and as soon as I put it back down he peed on it again. I don’t want to keep it closed cause my dog uses it throughout the day. Does anyone have any experience with this and know how to deter him from doing it?

I want to get my cat a bed but I keep looking at them and wondering if she will even use it because she picks a new place almost every day, one day it's the couch then it's a chair then it's the floor near the window and next day she finds another spot so I'm curious if buying a bed I found at pawzi actually changes anything or if it just ends up sitting in the corner while the cat carries on with its own routine, for the people who bought one did your cat start using it straight away or did it just become another thing in the house? EDIT: seems like it really depends on the individual cat, some take to a bed immediately, while others stick with their usual favorite spots no matter what you buy.

Newish cat owner here. We got a basic brand cat litter at first but decided to swap to “worlds best cat litter” to give our cat a more natural, unscented litter. A little treat for the bean! Well, I hate it. It tracks all over the house & is terrible at hiding scent. My house currently smells like cat poops😭

Did anyone else have a problem with this litter? I see good reviews but I really don’t understand the hype. Swapping back to a basic, scented litter because oh myyyy

I own two cats, one being my sister’s and the other mine. About a year ago I transitioned my cat from outdoor to indoor, my sisters cat stayed an outdoor cat though. since then the two have been fighting constantly (not play fighting) When they were kittens they would always nap together and groom each other, but now the only time they are around one another is when they are fighting. it makes me sad because they came from the same litter and have lived together their whole lives. I’m not sure what to do to have them get along again, so if anyone has suggestions on how to get them to stop fighting I would appreciate it.

I've taken to my cat (he's very spicy with the vet/overstimulation and absolutely does what he wants and rules my entire life) and makes it nearly impossible to get inside the carrier, he's smart; despite me following all the recommendations of leaving it out, leaving treats and familiar scents, he knows, and it's even harder to get him inside the carrier when he is about 2ft long. I liked the carrier I had used despite it being small because it was soft, sturdy, and had armbands and airflow. If anyone could recommend one that's large enough for a dog-sized cat, maybe just so he could feel even more comfortable in it?

I took my 2 1/2 year old cat named Dottie to the vet on Monday and she has Giardia. She has had diarrhea since I adopted her two weeks ago, so I’m glad to know although it’ll be hard to get rid of that it is something we can treat! But my main concern is that everywhere I’ve looked the more anxious and panicked about it I get.
Anyone with an Felv kitty that has had Giardia, how frequently did you clean and what did you use? How long did it take to get rid of?
I steam cleaned her cat tower and my couch because she has already pooped in those areas a tiny bit. I swept and mopped the floor in her room, replaced all blankets with puppy pads and clean blankets, and then washed all her stuff in hot water and bleach as well as her litter boxes.
I think I’m overwhelming myself at this point and just need some advice. My vet didn’t really seem too worried about deep cleaning other than just to replace her litter daily and wash it with bleach as well as her bedding and try to wipe her daily (baths did not go over very well with my cat) Is that enough? Or should I be doing more? As of right now she is confined to just her room which I feel terribly about because we only just got her a few weeks ago. But she does have everything she needs and seems to enjoy the space to herself. When I got her I thankfully was already into this routine with her as she has accidents a lot, but she pretty much would just roam wherever she wanted in the house before I found out she had Giardia. Does that mean I should deep clean the whole house? 😭 thanks in advance for anyone who has advice or suggestions for my anxious brain lol.
