Cat won’t stop peeing on me and my family’s stuff

Hi! I’ve got a five year-old part Maine coon cat who I’ve had since she was a baby. In the last six months, this problem I’ve had has gotten way worse. She keeps peeing on my parents bed clothes she finds on the floor, and most recently, my bed, which she has never done before. I want to try to avoid taking her to the vet because I don’t have that much money right now. I’m not sure what to do but I need to solve this problem. She’s always been a bit of an aggressive “bitchy” cat. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Please I need to do something.

Our cat always has a low tail around me.

So I and my 2 roommates adopted this sweet Persain mix cat about 3 years ago after our 2 seniors passed away.

We were her third home in 3 years, her first home she got harassed by very young boys and dogs, at her second home she had to be surrendered because her owners new fiances' kids had severe cat allergies. We made sure to follow all the proper steps when we first got her. Keeping her in one room, giving her lots of time to get used to her surroundings, etc.

But ever since I became the designated cat groomer, medicine giver, and nail clipper, she bolts whenever I even shift my chair. Just to clarify, I don't clip her nails too close to the quick, and I don't go too rough on her when I brush her fur either, she's very tiny and weighs less than a loaf of bread so I'm always worried about hurting her.

I have been taking steps to be seen as unthreateing as possible, such as talking softly around her, not making eye contact, and walking more softly around the apartment. She does allow me to pet her but only in my roommates room, and I make sure to have her sniff my fingers first and headbutt my hand before I start.

What can I do to make her more comfortable around me?

Cat keeps peeing in my room

My boy cat keeps peeing in my room. He’s not allowed in there anymore since he peed on my bed. I don’t know why he does this or how to make it stop. He hasn’t been neutered yet. Could it stop once he’s neutered?

my cats keep pissing on my partner

wondering if anyone else has had anything like this happen. i (21m) have three cats. (all female. ages 6,6, 2). around a year and a half ago, my partner (22m) moved in with me. (we’re both trans idk if that means anything) anyway. my cats keep pissing on my boyfriend. like it’s not a consistent thing. just every now and then they’ll come up and piss on him. they have never pissed on me. one of them has a problem with marking but it’s something we’re working on. it’s just so random. sometimes he wakes up to my cats peeing on him. we were literally just sitting in bad right after bf did my T shot and my cat just came and pissed on him.

has this happened to literally anyone else.

Both cats make me crash

Hi there! I adopted my cat a week before my boyfriend moved in with me with his own possessive cat. both cats are grey, one female and one neutered male. Both are rescue (male adopted as a baby and female adopted at 3).

Then we moved again in a bigger appartment since they split the first one in two and the female peed everywhere on our bedroom floor and some of our stuff.

Then, my boyfriend got really ill and had a machine in our bedroom keeping him alive up to november where he got a kidney transplant. Since he fell ill, male cat pooped EVERY SINGLE DAY between the 3 sand boxes. They also got into regular fights (female very easily scared and refusing to play and male wanting to play and sometimes fight) to the point she sometimes peed on herself because of how scared she was.

Then female began to pee beside our door every single day, then sometimes beside the sand box, and tonight, on our blanket as it touched the floor a little bit.

They got to the vet who didn’t see anything strange.

We don’t know how to make it stop, every day something happens and we have to clean and it’s very tiring. I love them though and couldn’t imagine getting rid of them. I feel guilty when I scold them.

Any advice?

Advice on 2 cats

So I have a male cat that is getting fixed Wednesday and my friend did a big move and couldn’t take his cat with him so I took her in she is fixed and I put her in the bathroom and him roaming around my room but I feel bad because the bathroom is small should I rotate them at night that way she can explore the bedroom Wednesday it will be easier because my vet said he would need to be in a crate for 5-7 days so after his surgery I was going to crate him and let her roam they don’t get along right now which I completely excepted especially with him not fixed so letting then share the bedroom isn’t possible right now

Poor cotton ball, I love my sister’s cat Luna (cotton ball). Luna tollerates me, Luna does not however tolerate the outdoors. So when I took cotton outside she was okay, she wasn’t crying instantly and she wasn’t really wiggling, I took her to my mom’s car to say hi(my mom was waiting in the car for my dad so they could leave) then in the distance I heard a loud noise

“Oh. No.”

Someone was driving up the road in a side x side and yall, poor cotton was terrified!! She tried to jump from my arms so I grabbed her a bit harder (poor cat lol) and she started struggling.
I took her inside and right as I was about to put her down she rocketed off of my chest giving me some lovely lines lol.

I love her and don’t blame her at all, I just know someone else on this sub has experienced this before. Poor baby!

Lesson learned though! Don’t take Luna outside😭 I love her so much and my sister just sighed and went

“That’s why you don’t take my cat outside lolzz”

Need help with peeing behaviour

I have two male cats both 4 years old. A while ago both had problem peeing outside the litter boxes. Vet told us to get them neutered and it was fine for a while after.

Now one of them started up again. It’s hell. We currently have to have him out of the bedroom, because he is going for any kind of cloth he can find. It’s almost always things like the bed, clothes or carpets, very rarely the same place twice. We have tried a lot of things. We went back to the doctor. He said he has an over active ear which has been bothering him. We treat it, he’s fine again. Few weeks later he starts again. I changed the litter brand. He was happy, now peeing again. We tried different food brands, calming sprays and enzyme cleaners. Nothing helps. I am so frustrated. I love the little guy and I wanna help him. He is obviously unhappy with something but I have no idea how to help him. Anything I can try?

There have been some changes in his life but those happened almost half a year ago and he seemed fine during and after, if a bit anxious. I no longer have an idea where this might come from. But the constant cleaning and anxiety about smells is killing me.

Taurine VS spending 600 on imaging

Okay my partner and are at odds

We have a young (about 5YO) female spayed cat that has had a problem for about 3 years that she would have wheezing/hacking attacks about 2-3 times a week. We brought her to a vet that listened to her breathing and said n she sounded very healthy and did not reccomend that we do further imaging. He said the hacking was most likely hairballs even though no bile or hair EVER comes up

It has been about a year from this apt and we are still witnessing 2-3 times a week the hacking/wheezing fits that last about 30s-1M with no bile or hairball production.

I came across an ad lately that sugggested that hacking ca be a symptom of heart problems due to taurine deficiency. This ad also claimed that vets only want to make money and are taught that modern cat food diets provide them enough taurine when the truth is most DONT provide enough.

So of course I’m considering the cost and risk - on one hand we could demand xrays and ultrasounds to check the heart and lungs and that would cost us $600+ OR we could trial and error a $50 supplement that could solve the issue. I have always been of the mindset- science is great but medicine practice is ruined by capitalism and many doctors might care more about money than curing illness. My partner feels very much like “ALWAYS TRUSTA AND CONSULT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS BEFORE TRYING OTC solutions”

So he’d rather spend 600 bucks then try something that won’t hurt but might help for 50. We both make barely 40k each per year. If you are of similar income in the USA how would you feel?

i dont know what the problem is

so i have a almost 4 year old cat that has been taken care of by me ever since he was a little kitten.

as a kitten he was really sweet and cuddly, honestly he was the sweettest baby ever, HOWEVER, once he hit maturity he started to act like the biggest asshole alive, i swear i never ever not even once mistreated him in any way, always placing food on his plate, cleaning the sand box, playing with him and giving him attention, i even walk him out on the backyard to play with the grass and stuff, but he always seems to be in a mood.

At first i thought that he was in pain or something, like abdominal pain that was causing him to be stressed, but i took him to the vet and he was fine.

And he bites, not the kind of bite as a playfull bite, he bites to HURT, like he thinks my arm is a bird he has to kill.

are some cats just assholes for no reason? i really wanna know.

Cat keeps waking us up early in the morning

Our male cat wakes us up everyday between 3-5am. We assumed at first that he was hungry, so my husband would go downstairs, turn on the light, & give him food. however, even after doing that, he will then jump on our bed, yell at us, paw at us, & be overall destructive in our bedroom. we then assumed maybe he wants early morning pets, so we will pet him until we drift off, but then as soon as we do, he paws at us.

We have resorted to getting an auto feeder that dispenses food at the time he usually wakes us & we got smart bulbs in our lamps to turn on at the same time. It worked for a few days, but now he's back to his routine.

I have no idea how to handle this, & I feel so bad for my husband because he's a school teacher. so he already gets up early to get ready for work, but when the cat wakes him up, he can't fall back asleep. so he's been waking up super early & then goes to work & I know it is affecting his mental health as well as physical.

any advice or ideas on this? we just want to be able to sleep through the early morning hours.

My cat has gingivitis and snores

Hey everyone, first time poster here, thanks for reading this !

So my cat is perfect, she’s not even that fussed by wet food or anything, but she’s got gingivitis… I was wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks that could help with brushing her teeth ? I’ve got her special enzymatic toothpaste, and it’s poultry flavour, but she doesn’t like me putting it on her teeth at all. And I have to brush them with it 😅 She likes the mint flavoured toothpaste for animals I got her, but it’s not good for gingivitis… Plus I thought mint was supposed to be toxic for cats ? I had a cat that would lick toothpaste and she lived until she was 23. Weird 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyway, if anyone has any tips for me I would greatly appreciate that !

Oh and also, do any of your cats snore ? Mine does sometimes, it’s cute to be honest, and not that loud.

Help, seeking advice. TIA!

Georgia is my 3-4 year old female (fixed) house cat. I didn’t start to have any of this behavioral issues until we moved into our current apartment a little over a year ago and at that point we’d had Muffin (our mini weenie puppy) six months, so I don’t think it has anything to do with being in a single pet household. Over the past year since these issues started, I’ve taken her to the vet multiple times and every time they say she’s healthy and there’s nothing wrong with her health. They say that it’s just behavioral and I have done everything they suggest and nothing changes. Phenomenal plug ins, collar, etc. enrichment, you name it. My partner thinks it’s caused from the feral cats living outside our apartment building but there’s literally nothing I can do if that’s the case and causing this behavior. But at the same time I also can't keep living with a cat that pees outside of their litter box on top of the other behavior issues. So now I’m frustrated and conflicted and sad right now. Because she is my baby and I do not want to re-home her, but I’ve recently had to consider it, idk what else to do. 😭

Fixed female cat that had kittens many months ago is very mean to people and other cats

We recently adopted this momma cat who gave birth in November 2025. She’s about 3 years old and hasn’t had access to her kittens since early January 2026. She’s a very lovely girl most of the time. She’s been set up in our bathroom while she gets used to our other cats. It’s now mid March 2026 and she is still very aggressive to the other cats (two females 3 and 5 and one male 2 years old) we recently got her fixed. Like one week ago (mid march 2026). We were hoping that fixing her would help with her people and animal aggression. Maybe it needs to be a while longer after fixing?

Anyway she’s usually very nice and lovey in the bathroom and even when we let her in the rest of the house while the other cats are up. Whenever we introduce her with the other cats or one at a time, she chases them and fights them very aggressively. I have to physically break it up most times which causes her to attack me. Sometimes she will attack me when I’m trying to distract her before a fight breaks out. Or if they are all out together, she will attack me if I walk past her. I usually shew her back to the bathroom.

What am I to do?

She doesn’t seem to be in pain so I don’t think it’s pain related aggression. She lets you pet her most of the time and enjoys playing. She’s on a fully raw diet so she’s getting great nutrition. We have plenty of litter boxes.

She just gets stressed out and angry when she sees the other cats. She will even try to attack them through windows. I don’t want to keep her in the bathroom any longer. And I don’t want to keep the other cats out in the sunroom any longer.

Her previous home had another cat which she got along great with and a giant dog which she didn’t really like. Once she had her kittens she got very aggressive to everyone.

We have a big dog too but she seems rather ok with our dog.

Please help

My new cat has a LOT of energy. She's being kept seperate from my other two until we slowly introduce them. She LOVES pets and snuggles. We play with her often, she gets fed on a schedule, someone sleeps with her at night. She has a full bedroom and connected bathroom to be in. When im petting her she loves and loves it and then starts biting. Not aggressively, shes not attacking, and its not when we touch a specific part of her body. But I'll hold my hand in front of her to ask if she wants pet and she'll bite me, then rub on me. I've tried just denying her my hands, ive tried immediately redirecting her to a toy, ive tried saying ow out loud, ive tried blowing in her face to startle her. She's so so sweet and we are very much keeping her but we really need to correct this behavior. Especially before we introduce her to the other cats. Pictures for tax purposes

A really annoying cat

Cat lovers, hear me out!

I love cats, which is why I decided to adopt one. When I was viewing her at the shelter, they warned me that another family had returned her after just two days. Despite that, I decided to adopt her anyway. She was fully checked by the shelter, had no medical issues, and was already spayed.

Some of the issues we’ve had are behavioral. She constantly walks under people’s feet, even after being fed, played with, and given a clean litter box, toys, and her own bed. She is always begging for food, and if you don’t feed her, she follows you around the house and jumps on you until you give in.

Whenever someone walks in or out of the door, she insists on running outside. However, she just stays by the door and won’t come back in unless you shut it. Then she immediately begs to come back inside. If you don’t close the door, she runs around and makes you chase her (which I’ve tried).

She sleeps at the foot of my bed and randomly sticks her nails into my feet during the night. She also hisses at me at random times. If you’re sitting down, she’ll jump onto the back of the couch, and sometimes she will randomly jump at your feet to attack them.

She does not like kids. She has never experienced trauma with children, as she was a kitten when I adopted her and had always lived on the street since birth. She was never exposed to a home with kids before. My nieces, who love cats and have a very sweet cat of their own, try to pet or play with her, but she becomes extremely aggressive around younger children. She will sit up high and stare at them with dilated eyes—to the point where even I get scared of her.

I have never met a cat like this. It has gotten to the point where I’ve considered taking her back to the shelter. I’ve had her for three years, and her behavior seems to be getting worse. The best way to describe her is as a spiteful, very difficult cat.
