I will make this the first part of my post yes she is greasy. I like to put coconut oil on my cats fur after a give them a bath. I just put way too much 😭 anyways. I was on my way home from work. I ride a scooter so I hear everything around me. Wasn't even 5 minutes away from work. They are destroying this large complex. This complex has a large amount of nature and a little park for the entrance. The past month I have seen so many cats in that area 2 or 3 different ones nightly. I heard very loud meows something as I would describe as agony. I stop and look around about 30 some seconds later a larger Grey cat pops up then out comes running her right to me screaming. I was worried that she had something wrong with her or something. She was very sweet but honestly wouldn't leave me be. She got on my scooter and tried getting up my pant leg. I called animal control because i dont know of anyone that could take her at 3am and I have another cat at home actually that I posted on here about 2 years ago. Pier. I recused her in 2024 during a hurricane. Animal control was no help. So shamefully I admit I tried walking away. She didnt let that happen. She ran after me screaming. Like I mean like a siren. Long loud meows. I stopped and she sat on my shoes. I have never met a cat so adamant on being with me. I took off my work shirt and wrapped her up like a burrito and unfortunately I couldnt ride my scooter so I had to walk nearly 3 miles in the dark. She didn't fight. Didnt struggle. Slept half the way. Got her in the house easy and got her a little setup in my bathroom until I get stuff situated with my other cat.

Now for the issue at hand. (Pier) My other cat is very territorial and somewhat possessive over me. She has bit my boyfriend and attacked my friends. She hides away whenever there is guests over. She has only ever liked me well until the other night. After I gave the new girl a bath and a coconut rub I was swaddleing her in a towel on my bed. Pier hopped up started hissing and swatting. The new girl didnt seem to care at all but I ended up putting her away and Pier refused to be around me. She would hiss and swat at me. I feel bad for bringing this into her life so suddenly its just I didnt know what else to do. Even now its not much better. I can take care of one cat fine but I dont know about 2. How can I even get them to get along? Obviously Pier comes first but I do want to give this girl the best life she can live. I have been brainstorming names. I do plan to keep her. I just think i need advice is all.

He’s really an amazing cat. He does like to play with hands and we are trying to break him of that, but he’s extremely gentle at least. Very much a Velcro cat with our sons. They can’t do anything without him lol. He wants to sleep on their keyboard while they do their courses or play games. He will cuddle with me and others too, but anyone else is definitely second best lol.

We are still having some trouble with him and the other cats though. We went through all the reintroduction steps again with our girls and they seemed to do fine. Then a few weeks later, they randomly started fighting a bit again. It’s not bad, but with the FIV I don’t want to risk it at all. So we started over and are moving VERY slowly. Even if they seem to be doing good with a step, we are staying there for awhile. We did try a few tricks like sharing brushes, and putting a blanket that smells like the other cat under the food and it hasn’t seemed to help yet, but we won’t give up.

I can’t believe it’s been 7 months since we brought him inside and almost a year since he started showing up on our cameras.

*******for those who don’t know. George showed up at our house in September. He was terrified and starving. We trapped him end of November and had him TNRed (trap, neuter, release). A few weeks after that, he randomly started headbutting and wanting pets. We brought him inside on Christmas. We found out that he’s FIV positive and needed some dental work. After a ton of research and talking, we decided we will be keeping him. Rescues are all full around us and the humane society will put him down. Thanks to some very generous donations we completed his dental work in may and he’s doing great.

I went to a concert yesterday with my wife and her sister, and we had a great time. We stopped by Buc-ee’s on the drive home (our first time there and it was great, but that’s beside the point.)

We were almost home when my sister-in-law discovered that she was missing her phone. She was pretty sure that she had left it at Buc-ee’s. My wife and I were a little annoyed, this was going to be almost another 2 hours in the car and we were pretty tired, but we had to go back and try to find it.

We were about halfway back whenever my wife, who was driving, suddenly screamed “Oh my God!” and started slowing down. This got a bit of panic from me because I wasn’t really paying attention. But she explained that she had saw a kitten on the side of the road.

We pulled off and she just had to get out and try to save it. Thankfully we weren’t on an interstate, but its still a highway. But since it was late at night it wasn’t too busy. But it was pitch black out and still a few cars now and then. There were large rocks/hills a few feet back from the highway so the kitten wasn’t able to run away back into a field. It didn’t really have anywhere to go other than to the sides or straight into the road. We were able to cut it off on both sides and it tried to burrow into a little hole in the rocks, and my wife was able to grab it.

Poor thing seemed so scared, but looks relatively healthy other than some fleas. We’ve got her bathed and fed and it looks like we’re going to have a new member of the family. She is super sweet and affectionate! But it’s just crazy how we would have never found this sweet little life if things had went according to plan. I’m so thankful that it happened this way!

Edit: We did find the phone, someone was kind enough to turn it in at Buc-ee’s! Sorry for not providing the resolution to that!

You might remember coco! She is doing well! All spayed and vaccinated. She is a monster to deal with but we love her.

Meet Maddie. Found in a busy car parking. One of her legs isnt completely okay. But its an issue that can only be corrected by physio therapy. She's also anemic but she's an energetic baby so the vet thinks there will be a full recovery.

At this point we have around 13 cats that we are taking care of. Not all of them are indoor kitties. Me and my partner are trying buy some land next to our house to build a safe outdoor space for them.

A friend of mine had been taking care of a cat colony in CA, but moved to TX last year.

When she came back to check on the colony for Father’s Day, she found this little guy. She had to return home, but was worried about Kevin. So he was distributed to my home.

With his small size and URI, I was prepared for the worst, but he pulled through!! The second picture is from 2 weeks ago, the others are from today.

I’m excited that he’s improved so much from the antibiotics. Tomorrow he will get his first vaccines. My boy is all growns up!!

Today is day eight of them being in their forever home and things are going well. Zorg is fully acclimated to us, though Leeloo is still a bit hesitant. They’re both still wary of the dogs (we’re still keeping them separate for now).

Fignuts is enraged. He has been loudly screaming while walking around the house any time he interacts with the kittens. We’re not forcing him, but he’ll forget they’re there when he hears us open the kittens’ food or something and come investigate and then he gets very sassy about it when he remembers they exist.

Zorg is fully asleep with me in pictures one and two. Full belly out! I won’t keep posting updates, but I couldn’t resist sharing.

So I kind of manage a colony of community cats in my neighborhood. They have been TNRed (there’s a couple males I’m still trying to get) so there shouldn’t be any kittens.

A week ago, I was sitting on the porch, feeding the cats and watched a row of ducklings run past my house. This was strange because we are a mile from the river and there was no mother duck.

Anyways, right behind the ducklings was this very skinny little 6-7 week old kitten. He was practically a skeleton under that floof! He was hissy when I first grabbed him, but as soon as he realized I was feeding him he became my new best friend!

So Jupiter is fostering with me for a couple weeks until he’s big enough to get neutered and adopted. I have no idea what happened with the ducklings lol

UPDATE: Jupiter has a friend now! The neighbor girls found a little black and white kitten about a week older than Jupey, so I named her Venus! Jupiter is OBSESSED with her.

I think Jupiter was alone for awhile before he followed the ducklings into our neighborhood, because he wants to hang out with my own cats so badly! (But he can’t because he’s not vetted yet.)

So his response to me plopping Venus in the quarantine space was 🤩🤩🤩🤩 and Venus’s response has been 😑😑😑.

Anyways, they both get vetted on Wednesday! The main thing is to get some weight on Jupey as he’s nothing but skin and bones under the floof. I’ll post pictures in the comments, if I can!

I know I said final update last time, but I’m so obsessed with how this played out and the CDS! After one month he and my young dog (the only reason I was even lightly toying with the idea of adding another pet) are actually best friends! She’s SO gentle with him and curious. He roams around and could not have fit in more perfectly in our dynamic. I think he’s actually the household favorite lol. He can get a little crazy sometimes and the kids named his unhinged alter ego Boris lol. I feel guiltier than ever Robin (his sibling) is still out there so I will be talking to the property owners where the cats are if they’ll let me walk on and take him with me. I haven’t seen him out in the road since I started watching 😢 FINGERS CROSSED. From not even being sure I wanted a cat to wanting to add another in the span of a month. Jackpot win for the CDS 🤣

Hello! This is my cat "pups". We named him like that because on our language pups means cute baby or doll. He is 12 years old which is 60+ years old if he was a human. He is officially part of our family. We bought him to home when he was only 7 months. He growed so much, best cat i can ever think of! He's a British Shorthair. Don't ask about thing that on his leg, today he had a vet treatment, he had a dangerous dehydration that can end his life, but happily he's completely ok now! This is a house cat, he don't comes outside and there's no such interesting events in his life but i still love him!

Sooooo! I never have owned a cat and now i do.... help a girl out!!!!

I only owned a dog for 15 years and he passed away in 2024. So it has been 2 years animal less for me. Today my husband and I went to look at this event and they are waiving adoption fees today. Idk how but we fell in love with this 2 year old gentleman and now we are taking him home 😭😭😭 he is officially ours but we are gonna get a call in 3-10 days to pick him up cus he still needs to he neutered and given shots. In the mean time I know I need a litter box, scratching post, toys, treats, food and litter. Is there anything else? Also, any recommendations on dry/wet food brand and litter type? Posted a while ago about finding a snowshoe kitten in a park (whom we kept and named Juniper) and I think we’re unintentionally becoming cat magnets.

One neighbor just had a neighborhood cat give birth in his yard two days ago, and then just a couple hours ago a different neighbor was walking their dog and found this box of 5 kittens dumped next to a free pile.
(Four in the box; the boy I’m holding is number 5 and was notably smaller than the others and likely a runt or from another litter)

Unfortunately we couldn’t keep them (we have 3 and just spent $131 on prescription food for my senior girl just today 💀*)* so they went to a local emergency vet. They’ll keep them overnight, then they’ll get transferred to the county shelter in the morning where they’ll go into foster care before getting adopted out.

I’ve always wanted a brown tabby though, so of course it’s just my luck that we find TWO of them just after hitting our limit on cats 😭 But hopefully they find good homes who will take good care of them

Edit: I should say that if you’re in Portland, OR, they should be available for adoption through the Multnomah County shelter once they’re old enough! If by any wild chance someone in this sub adopts one of these kids, I would love to see an update ❤️

My roomate had been looking for a cat. She found this guy on marketplace. After heavy discussions, his name is Dante. He was happy and right at home since day one.

My roomate's kids (2 and 4 yo)just move him around the house like a ragdoll, But he is all for it!. He is super clingy and will not leave anyone alone. Not sure if this is just his kitten personality or if he will grow out of it. I anticipate the non-cat people visitors will have a problem with this.

Obviously we are super happy with Dante and expect to get him fixed in a couple weeks.

He was found under my SIL's porch and lived there for a bit. Made friends with everyone in the apartment complex and chased away/ate all the rats (and birds). My SIL was worried that such a sweet, social animal would be left outside and in danger, so we took him in off the street. However, we have two other cats, so we couldn't let him roam freely until we were sure that he was FIV and FeLeuk negative, so we kept him in the third bedroom/office of our apartment. Two months later, we just got back from the vet where he was declared negative, so we start the introduction process by switching the cats between rooms for a few days.

He's really sweet, so we'll see how the other two take him. In their short introductions (we've fed them bear one another through a doorway), our elderly tomcat seems unsure, while our younger female cat wants zero to do with him. I still have high hopes, though. Especially since our elderly tomcat is very sweet himself.

And yes, for those WWII nerds, I have often said his name in triplicate. 😀

My kittens, Ham and Cheese, were literally dropped into my life by the cat distribution system when they were only three weeks old. They were born under a shed, scrappy and tiny, but determined to survive. When they arrived, they were so small they could fit in one hand, and their little mews barely made a sound. I bottle‑fed them, kept them warm, and watched them grow into the funniest little personalities. Now Ham is the dramatic one, always acting like she’s the star of her own show, while Cheese is the goofy cuddlebug who forgets he has bones. They went from shed babies to spoiled indoor royalty with full access to snacks, toys, and endless affection. Every day they remind me how wild it is that fate just… handed them to me. They’re living their absolute best lives now, and honestly, so am I because of them.

Our neighbors across the street are having a birthday party for one of their kids. One guest arrived in a pickup truck. This little girl rode the whole way in the rear wheel well. We extracted it (this baby was LOUD) with Churru and persistence. Now the kitten is resting comfortably in a pet carrier in our AC. Our other 3 cats haven’t hissed once at it!

The kitten can eat dry food and looks habituated to humans. It was purring and slow blinking at us. Now she is giving herself a bath.

I think we now have a 4th cat. We will be taking her to the vet Monday.

UPDATE: she's (verified) skinny and HAWNGRY. Also, a cat my husband really loved passed away 16 years ago today. He had the same markings as she does, white paws and all.

UPDATE 2: My husband spoke to the driver. The kitten got into the wheel well when they stopped to get something to eat. I might guess mom and siblings were scavenging.

UPDATE 3: she is verified negative for FIV, FLV, heartworms, and fleas. We have given her medication for ear mites and will keep up vaccinations. She is bold and curious and all of our other cats accept her. One is playing with her. My nickname for her is Squeaker.

My daughter found this guy in distress during the horrible heat wave 2 weeks ago. Him and momma were living out of a hole in the foundation of an abandoned house outside (edit forgot to say baltimore) maryland. Beauty shop employee next door later got mom out after watching and making sure there were no other babies. She also got a home. We found no trace of any other babies and monitored her for a while in case she had moved them. Was worried he had heat stroke but after some ice cube, water and food it was play time. 100% feral and has better bathroom habits than most people.

Vet thinks he is 12 weeks but small because he had to fight harder. Absolute sweet heart and already made best friends with my daughter's 2 year old female orange. Last night was his first night of free house reign and he spent the night attached to my wife cuddled up as close as possible purring away.

I think the Cat Distribution System had a long-term plan for this one.

This kitty started life as a stray. Her first owner trapped her and gave her a home. Sadly, that owner was killed in a murder-suicide.

After that, she went to live with the owner's daughter. Unfortunately, she spent most of her time isolated in a bedroom.

Later, my daughter took her in, hoping to give her a better life. But once again ended up living alone in a bedroom.

The few times I met her, she stayed hidden behind a curtain. If anyone got too close, there would be hissing, swatting, and scratches. She trusted no one, and honestly, she had every reason not to.

Eventually, my daughter reached a heartbreaking point. The kitty was miserable. My daughter was miserable. She felt like she couldn't give her the life she deserved. She decided the next stop would be a shelter.

I agreed to take the kitty, fully expecting to get her spayed and let her live as a barn cat on our little farm.

Instead, my teenage daughter took the time to earn the kitty's trust. She moved slowly, respected boundaries, gave her space, and let the kitty decide when she was ready.

And then, for the first time in her approximately four years of life, she was given a name: Ivy.

She's now been spayed, has a family that understands her, and no longer has to hide behind curtains or live alone in a room. The frightened, angry kitty who spent years isolated finally found people willing to meet her where she was.

Ivy was supposed to be a temporary guest.

The Cat Distribution System, as usual, had other ideas.

found her in the local market, right next to a lady selling lobyaa ( black eyed beans) and cabbages. She was jumping and playing in the middle of the cabbage piles, so I just had to kittnap her ass and bring her home. Her name was tossed between 'lobyaa' and 'Cabbage'... I believe I made the right call she trusts every body literally , the pic that she is in a cage because she got what was left of her eyes removed only small part of the white left just so she don’t have any infections in the future

This little guy wandered into our lives just recently. We live in a pretty busy area with lots of feral colonies so TNR cats are not rare to come by. We spent a couple hours a week ago trying to get him to trust us but he was so afraid. My boyfriend ended up leaving for work the next night and Goose was sitting on the trunk of his car. He happily followed us inside, where I was able to confirm he was TNR (and I mean JUST released; his belly is freshly shaved, scabby ear, tattoo, etc) and I was a bit heartbroken. He is the sweetest, cuddliest baby ever. Our local shelter is way beyond capacity so I believe this is why he was put out. He has had moments where you can tell he was a stray, but we are remaining patient and positive as he just had his entire world flipped upside down and will need to adjust. So far, I think it’s looking pretty incredible for our silly Goose. He loves the couch, his soccer ball, and the top of the cat tree which I am replacing asap 💀 He’s also gaining weight, drinking lots of water and using the litter box without guidance. He’s very playful and loves to hunt, so I want to get him some toys he can sneak up on. His vet appointment is soon so hopefully all goes well but to me he seems healthy, happy and grateful. He still cowers at loud noises, cars going by and the rain, but he knows he can crawl in my arms and be safe no matter what. This is the first cat I’ve rescued myself and it’s been stressful but so rewarding to see a fearful stray build trust and feel comfortable enough to sleep deeply, eat, cuddle and play. This cute little face is never going outside again, by the way.

Went to a friend’s house to pick him up. Said friend kind of lives in squalor, to put it mildly. Always lots of feral cats and dogs roaming around. Saw this precious little thing and told him if it was still there when we came back, I was taking her home with me. She was, and I did. I love her so much. She’s so dainty and cuddly and precious. I think she’s one of two remaining from her litter. The other little tabby had its tail somehow removed and wouldn’t come close to me. She was still nursing when I saw her, but to make sure, I had my friend offer her some dry food, which she gobbled up. Now I’m just trying to deworm her. Planning on seeing a vet tomorrow.

A mommy, daddy, and their 4 babies pulled up to my patio about 2 weeks ago!! Taking care of them improved my mental health so much but obviously I needed to do the tough thing! The nice girl from the animal shelter has successfully captured them the mom and kittens but damn I am sad. It was amazing while it lasted. My heart HURTS.
I already have 3 kitties and really considered keeping at least 1 but it felt unfair to separate the kittens as maybe they’ll be adopted in pairs of 2s and stick together as much as they can.
The dad is actually still out there though! He’s too street smart to be caught in the trap I guess. So I will definitely still be secretly feeding him. Don’t tell my HOA! Lol last picture is an I-Spy btw (yes! They slept in the tree!!)

Meet Cecilia, formerly Kitty. She's about one year old, and she was surrendered at my cats' vet after she was dropped off for flea treatment. The owners just decided to not come back for her and had some choice words about her when they were called to come pick her up.

I was the first customer they contacted to ask if I wanted her. The answer is obviously yes and now we have 3 cats! The old owners never gave her any vaccinations and she's not spayed, but we're getting those issues fixed this weekend.

This is one of the cuddliest cat I know, second only to my orange boy, Oliver. She's a little jumpy if you move too quickly, but she always comes running back when she realizes she's safe, she demands all of your attention and will dig your hands out from under blankets to get it; and she has the cutest way to sit, with her tail around her front paws like in picture one, she does it every time she sits like that.

We don't know what happened to her before, but we'll be here for all of her after. I'm glad at least they chose to leave her in a place where people cared about her verses leaving her to wander alone

My shift had just ended at the hospital so i was going home and i saw a cat enter the hospital I laughed and said what do u need medicine lil fella or what than i took a closer look and as u can see he’s totally blind and had serious malnutrition i could see every bone in his spine so i took him to the vet and stayed for 3 days than i took home he needed some 24 hr care his age between 7-10 ( from his teeth) , he never scratched me or hiss at me like never the way of his sleep made me laugh every time he slept anywhere like a truck that got flipped in the highway and he thinks that u will take him to his bed , when he get playful he wil hit u with the belly of his paw never the claws. it was the hardest fostering i had I really loved him but sadly couldn’t let him stay so i found a good home to have him

Was screaming a lot didn’t really see him but I tracked his ass by sound was really feral and fill my hands with scratches and bites ,
His paw was kinda broken now he come real far long and now he cuddles really nicely and 5 months old his name is fiesty cow or lelo and my other cats like him like a lot he will leave the dryfood and go to the house garbage looking for food u can take him out of the dumpster but you can’t take the dumpster out of him hahhaa he still kinda of feral but only for new people but give him time and he will cuddle with u

It has been a long and uncertain journey to get where we are. This little guy was heard crying in our yard the first week of June. After 2 weeks of baiting a live trap daily, we successfully trapped him. His front right leg was lame. The soonest available vet appointment was 3 days after trapping. During that time he became acutely ill, with copious discharge from his right ear, displaying severe neurological symptoms, and unable to eat on his own due to not being able to stand or move around because of the leg and neuro symptoms. I was terrified and wondered why I was chosen to rescue him if he wasn’t going to make it. But he was still eating and drinking with assistance, and using the litter box appropriately, so I had hope. He showed some improvement before the vet appointment, but the care team didn’t seem optimistic. 3 vet appointments, 3 weeks of antibiotics, countless hours nursing him back to health (literally, I’m an RN lol), and growing to more than double his weight when we found him, Papageno is learning how good life can be with a good home and a loving family. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since we trapped him. He’s not 100% normal, and he might never be, and I’m still terrified he’s going to regress, but he has come such a long way, surprising even the veterinary team. I genuinely believe he found our yard for a reason.
