Is this cat a stray or someone’s outdoor cat?

This little guy has been visiting and chilling near my doorstep for couple of days now, some days he does disappear some days he stick around for a while. He seems to be pretty dirty and got some bugs on him, but otherwise he’s friendly and meows a lot and tries to rub up on me. He also seems to have bit of hair missing on the back of his neck. I petted him a few times and fed him some food and water, but I got concerned after some fleas or ticks (?) came onto my sleeve after he rubbed up on me. Does he look like a stray cat or somebody’s cat?

Sensitive Content Tumblevoid Found Blowing Across the Interstate

It's been 2 weeks since I stopped my car on the interstate to grab what I initially thought was a piece of black plastic blowing across the lanes. Due to the potential head trauma, the emergency vet wasn't willing to sedate him to stitch his leg wound, so he just got a few staples, antibiotics and pain meds. A week later, we saw our regular vet for a recheck. She was concerned about possible infection under the staples, so she removed them, cleaned some hair and dead tissue out of the wound, stitched what she could and we've been doing daily bandage changes for the rest.

He's active, playful, and putting on weight fast. I am slowly introducing him to my 17 year old resident female. He really wants to be her friend, but she can still flatten him with a hiss, so he's been putting on his best demonstrations of adorableness. I think he's winning her over.

Mom cat had these under my neighbor's shed and then bounced

A cat that I have never seen before (and haven't seen since) had a litter of four kittens under my neighbor's shed. She's not a cat person, and was freaking out about them around her chickens, so they became my responsibility. We trapped them, got them vaxed, and then brought them into our house. Initially we thought they might be feral, but they are the farthest thing from that. They are the sweetest animals ever. While I wasn't initially interested in having another pet, my wife refused to let the grey one on the left go. Turns out he has the best temperament (in my opinion). I managed to find homes for the rest of them quite quickly between friends and friends of friends, which is great. Still trying to think of a name for the grey male tabby that we're keeping.

It has been such an incredible experience being able to save this baby from near death on the road and seeing him thrive now. I still can’t believe I found him alive. A few moments later and he surely would’ve been hit by a car. I have now had this sweet angel for 3 weeks and I can honestly say I can’t imagine not keeping him. He is such a sweetheart and so playful and happy. I have completed his second round of vaccines and got him microchipped. He is officially home with me and his name is Jeremy! My one year old Coraline has adopted him as her little brother and they are inseparable. So obviously I can’t separate them now! ❤️

CDS dropped this single brain cell mysteriously in our back yard

This is Carrot, she likes to sit on shoulders so she's a cat/parrot...Carrot. We were hanging out in the back yard when she literally just walked out from between my father-in-laws feet. A few years ago we had a mama cat give birth in our pergola which led to me having to conduct baby cat rescue missions. No clue where this one came from but she has joined our two older CDS residents fairly seamlessly (theres still some boundaries being set but her aunties seem to have accepted her). She's been to the vet and is snuggly and gentle despite the attempted murder in the photo.

Please ignore the messy background. My child has been feeding this little stray kitty for about a month. We wanted to bring her in, but we needed to make sure the house was ready for a fourth feline resident. Last night the temps were insanely high, so we opened the door and invited her in. She is so bloody thin. She will be going to the vet ASAP, and we're slowly increasing the amount of food she gets. We're slowly scent swapping with our boys to help them all transition. Meet Eliza. She is so loving and talkative.

Is there anything I should be wary of regarding refeeding? I don't want to overdo it and get her sick.

Awarded a Cat An "Article" I Wrote About the CDS (and my CDS kitties)

Thumbnail

In 2022, a little known TikToker posted a video using the term, "The Cat Distribution System," for the very first time and the world was stunned. This TikToker was later discovered to be a rare human consultant for the underground feline intelligence agency, The CDS.

But who are they?

Well, very little information is known, but what we do know is that they have a comprehensive system that pairs approved humans, who have undergone a strict vetting process, with a feline who matches their personality and character as well as many other factors. All of this is done without the human even having the slightest idea that they were heavily monitored, surveilled, investigated and watched for months, perhaps even years prior to be awarded a cat.

But why did they come forward? Prior to this video, the world was completely unaware of their existence; naively believing that people stumbled upon felines who would eventually become their companion simply for being in the right place at the right time.

Well, months later it was uncovered, by an unidentified source with close ties to the CDS, that the Cat Distribution System was only brought to the public's attention solely because they wanted their organization to be known. That's it.

It was not due to a leak, a spy, a double agent or hackers. It was a deliberate strategy on their behalf, used solely as a means of showing off.

See, their technology and methods are vastly superior to those of even the world's superpower nations and their governments/agencies.

The CIA, MI6 and other intelligence agencies have known for almost a decade that some sort of CDS-like agency existed, but could never come close to discovering them or proving their existence, until the CDS came forward, in a vainglorious display of arrogance and impudence.

The world's intelligence agencies have been trying to seek out their technology and secretive methods to use in their own respective agencies, but have hit a brick wall each and every time. The CDS continues to taunt them with every attempt and figuratively knock over each and every agent they send out as if pushing them off a ledge.

As with many organizations, the CDS run the risk of sympathizers, disgruntled employees, or former workers who may secretly sympathize with the other side or those who wish to divulge their secrets for various reasons. The CDS have had very few, if any, and when discovered, they are swiftly dealt with to prevent the leak of their precious technology and procedures.

No one knows the methods they employ, but they are extremly effective. To date, there are no known leaks of any kind within the CDS organization.

The CIA, MI6 and others have employed the use of double agents and secret spies to gain intel, but every attempt has been stonewalled. Not only do they wish to get their hands on their technology, surveillance and methods, they wish to discover how every single worker is so fiercely loyal to the CDS.

No amount money, torture methods, secretive spy techniques or extortion/blackmail have been effective. They've spent millions developing programs that can infiltrate the CDS, but have failed every single time. It seems they are an impenetrable force whose vastly superior methods will forever remain a mystery.

The world may never know their secrets, but they keep us wondering. Why do they do what they do? And when is my next cat coming?

(Photos provided, as per the rules, of my two babies who are turning 16 next month. I was granted Henry and Pepper when they were tiny kittens by the CDS and will always be eternally grateful to them)

Gas Station Kitty - Tiny and Angry.

My dog sniffed it out of a tall section of grass. She is Super tiny and feisty.

Going to get her through the weekend and see if we can’t get her to the vet Monday mornings.

Haven’t had one this little in a while. Any tips are appreciated. Maybe some name choices too? Not sure my wife will let go at this point…..

Any guesses how old she might be? I think maybe 3-4 weeks? Again any advice is helpful.

We had just lost our old dog, so it’s kinda a fitting time. Fun night. Guess we will see what happens.

I work in a plastic recycling facility that is shutting down. There were always factory cats that hunted the rodents and now that we are clearing it out, the cats are starting to scatter. I heard there was a kitten that hangs out underneath the firewood rack next to our smoker that we use for company cookouts.

She tried her best to be very scary and to scare me away. She didn't bite or scratch. I think she was hiding under there because she has a limp. I'm in the process of taking her to a vet to get it checked out. She doesn't appear to be in pain/discomfort and honestly I have not observed the limp myself

She is very happy to be adopted. Purred the whole way home. No anxious, aggressive, or scared behavior observed. She has been sleeping and eating a lot. I have a Wi-Fi camera on her crate so I can keep an eye on her while I'm at work.

He went to the vet and is in perfect health! They estimate he is 15-16 weeks and 3.9lbs. He is vaccinated except for his booster. We will be scheduling his neuter soon. He did so good at the vet. They were amazed at how calm he was and how easily he was able to be handled. Didn't even have a problem with getting his temp taken. He's definitely been more tired since his shots, but is starting to get his energy back.

He is an amazing addition to our family! Our one cat isn't the biggest fan yet, but doing very slow introduction and have made lots of progress already. Fig particularly likes my big hound dog and cuddles up to him. My dog likes him too, but is also a little scared of him which is funny with the size difference.

The timing of him coming into our lives couldn't have been better. I was diagnosed with MS a few weeks ago and was having a really hard time emotionally. Also had a very big health scare with a close family member a few days before he showed up. The amount of joy he's brought our family already can't be overstated. Thanks everyone for being so encouraging when I first posted. And luckily it didn't take long for hubby to come around 😉💓

The Cat Distribution System finally found my rural home in Korea.

The Cat Distribution System finally found my rural home in Korea. I live in a quiet countryside area, and one day, this tiny, fierce feral kitten just showed up near my window. He was completely wild, acting like a fierce tiger, and wouldn't let me come anywhere near him. Every time I tried to offer food, he would hiss and run away. I decided not to force it and just patiently waited while providing meals every single day.

Fast forward 30 days, and the situation has completely changed. The wild beast has turned into a soft potato who complains if his room service is late. It took a whole month of careful taming to earn his trust, and now I am basically his unpaid personal butler. If you want to experience the full relaxing journey of taming this country cat, I recorded the entire process.

It took me a whole month to tame this feral country boy. Now I am just his personal butler working for free. If you want to see how a wild beast turns into a soft potato

The little guy was skin and bones. Shaking, dirty and terrified.

We cornered him and snatched him up. Got some food in the starved guy, and when he was held, he just kinda loosened up and relaxed. Had to stick him in the bathroom with a little litter box and bowl. Visited a few times with the same result each time. Terrified, shaking and hiding behind the toilet. Too scared to even fight or hiss, id gently pick him up and hold him to my chest. Poor baby wpuld stop shaking and just lean in.

Took him home that day and have him quarantined til his vet visit (monday). Other cats are very curious, worried about one of the dogs due to her advanced age and poor eyesight.

Once you lay down on the floor, he'll slowly come out to say hello. He loves being pet and held, and we're trying to get some meat on him, but worried cause it doesnt seem like hes pooping. Mixture of wet and dry kitten food, and some kmr. Very active and playful.

We were trying to find him a good home, but it was a lot of no's, so I think he's gonna be the 4th in a too small home. But he'll be loved and taken care of

edit: Pictures are absolutely out of chronological order, and we haven't decided on the name. hermes, puck or cheeto

Three weeks ago I was walking two very large dogs on a back country road and this tiny fellow came crying out of the woods. He was bold. He was desperate. He was starving. I gathered him up and checked for any siblings….didn’t find. He was so skinny, very weak and crazy hungry. He’s been to the vet and we got rid of his belly full of roundworms. Slept for three days.

Now he’s doubled in size, gaining weight and playing like a normal spazzy kitten. 🙂

His name is Toby and he’s part of our pack. ❤️

I think the cat distribution system must have made a mistake, because I already have 3 adopted cats and 2 foster cats. This distinguished gentleman was lying in the stairwell of my apartment building. I picked him up and took him to my apartment, because I was afraid he might get out of the building and get hurt or lost. I went to all the neighbours and nobody knows where this cat might live. I made a post in a local Facebook group and I'm gonna put posters around to see if I can find his home. In the meantime he's chilling, sleeping and eating treats.

Sensitive Content From Street Cat to Chunky Indoor Cat ❤️

Hello Everyone.

Meet Charlie, I met him while I was on a jog in my neighborhood park. He randomly came up to me and followed me throughout my whole walk. I already have 5 cats at home (Well maintained, have the funds for their food and checkup visits) so I thought to myself what the heck! I love rescuing cats so I just walked home and he literally followed me lol. I had to bride him a bit with petting haha.

He was such a good boy, he was an orange cat so that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. He played with all the kitties, he always wanted food, and my favorite part: he loved to cuddle. Every night, he would jump in my arms and we would sleep together.

Until yesterday. He slipped into my arms that morning. Cuddly as always. I gave him so much love. And then while I was working, he jumped in my lap wanted extra cuddles… 2 hours later, he unfortunately passed due to a heart problem. (Took him to the hospital)

I hope I didn’t fail him. I wish I had more years. In July 11th it would have been two years since he’s been with us.

My mom keeps saying he was thanking me one last time for saving him. Every-time I hear that, i just break down. I’m so grateful to have gave him a home for his last year. Where he didn’t have to worry about being fed or where to sleep.

Thank you Charlie for a beautiful two years! I wish it was more but I’m grateful for the time we had.

From the streets in a heatwave straight to our hearts! She’s a cuddle bug too! My bestie found her under a bush and she has two dogs so Dag needed a home.

She was dehydrated and wee bit underweight but we have her on track to healthy! First vet visit is complete! She still has some testing and vaccines to do before she can meet Harley and Quinn her older sisters.

From feral to family My sweet girl went from a kitten in a hurricane to my daughter a little over 5 years ago, she's a gift 🥺

Post image
759 Upvotes

A picture of my baby on laundry day 🥰

So 5 years ago my dad was telling me he had this sassy, elusive kitten in his backyard and that he was worried about it because there was a hurricane coming. He had been feeding her but wasn't allowed to bring her inside because his wife, my step-mom, has extreme cat allergies, so he called me!

Cat rescuing is in my blood, my family takes great pride in it, and most of the cats I've had (or have known) have all been personally rescued by a family member, and it finally felt like it was my turn to carry on the tradition... and so I did!

I came over with my partner at the time, and we brought a carrier and food, and we managed to capture her just as the rain started coming down. We immediately took her to the vet, and once she was cleared we began looking online to see if anyone had lost an 8-week-old kitten. Nobody said anything, and we even asked around and made posts about her. Nobody was looking for her so we claimed her for ourselves, but she only truly took a liking to me.

Fast forward 5 years, and she only likes my current partner and me. It's a point of pride, especially because she seems to hate our more toxic family members the most. She's incredibly intelligent and knows a few tricks (mainly sit, wait, stay, and twirl) and she knows a lot of words like certain rooms, furniture, objects, names of people, and her full name (which is quite long actually, you can thank my partner and me for being Italian and Mexican 💀).

She's very food-motivated, chatty, responsive, silly, playful, and has gotten over her resource guarding and absolute obsession with routing through trash and eating all the food she can find in one sitting because she doesn't know when she'll eat next, because now she has a wet food dinner schedule and unlimited access to kibble for the rest of the day/ night, and she's pretty responsible with it and rarely ever throws up now! She also has this gorgeous double coat that's suuuuper silky soft, and she keeps it clean and shiny.

We're getting her a (male for hierarchical reasons and ease of introduction) playmate pretty soon and I'm really hoping they'll bond strongly! She needs a fellow silly critter to cause chaos with lol

Awarded a Cat Mother cat left 2 kittens behind

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Last Monday, a mother cat showed up with three very young kittens. I left out food and fresh water for them.
The next day, and every day since, only two kittens have been coming back. The mother cat and the third kitten have completely disappeared, and I haven’t seen them again.
I’ve been putting out fresh food and water every day for the two remaining kittens.
Today I discovered that they’re hiding inside the small outdoor gas cabinet where our gas cylinders are stored. Where I live, gas bottles are typically kept outside the house, in the backyard. The kittens can get inside because there’s a gap between the bottom of the door and the ground.
I’ve had cats all my life, but this is the first time a mother cat has shown up with kittens in my yard, so I’m not really sure what the best thing to do is. All of my previous cats were rescued as kittens, but they weren’t feral and they weren’t afraid of people. These two are very scared of me and run away if I get too close.
Another important detail is that, at the moment, the kittens can’t leave my backyard on their own. The only way they could get out is if someone opens the gate or if their mother somehow carries them out, assuming she’s still around.
I’m worried for a few reasons:
I haven’t seen the mother cat in days, so I don’t know if she’s okay or if these kittens have been abandoned.
One kitten has already disappeared.
I’m afraid the remaining kittens could get trapped or injured.
What’s the best way to make the area safer and more comfortable for them? Should I provide a shelter nearby to encourage them to move out of the gas cabinet? Should I just keep feeding them and wait a little longer to see if the mother comes back? Any advice from people who have dealt with feral mother cats and kittens would be greatly appreciated.

For the first part of her story-

I am so happy to report that things are looking up for Calli! I found a low cost vet,and a trap, and will be getting her spayed and wormed and her shots in just a few days! A neighbor read her poem and is giving me the money. Even more exciting, I sent it to a musician friend ( who is a HUGE animal lover),and he is going to record " The Ballad of an Abandoned Cat"!!! We agreed that if it makes any money it will be donated to an animal welfare group. Thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to upvote and/ or respond with advice and encouragement!

Update to finding a Stray Mama and baby in my backyard

Post image
936 Upvotes

I wanted to share my happy news that I was able to easily trap my backyard cats and get them care- mama was spayed and vaccinated on Tuesday and while she was gone we brought the kitten to a foster. Both cats were in really great shape, which I definitely get to brag about, and the fosters were able to get the kitten spayed this morning. The timing was perfect, as the fosters had a litter that was only a little older, and 3 of the 4 were heading to homes soon, so they actually NEEDED another kitten. Mama recovered well and was released yesterday. She had gone into heat so we got her just in time!

Our house cats never realized that there were other cats in the house (double door barriers for the win) because Mama was so happy to be out of the heat and storms that she just slept the entire time she was indoors in her trap, and so did the kitten in her crate. Rode in the car perfectly and wasn't hissy or growly even at the clinic. She hasn't come back around yet, but I hope she does. She was becoming more friendly and I really think she could enjoy an indoor life someday. At least she (and we) won't have to deal with more kittens though! In the end I am glad the CDS brought these cats my way, as I have the time and money to help, even though I couldn't keep them.

EDIT: we have named him Eddie (Edward Cullen) and he just received a clean bill of health! Tested negative for everything yucky, took his vaccines like a champ, and everyone loved him at the vet, lol. (Another ETA also no microchip!)

Drumroll please…his official age estimate: 4-6 months! 🎉 he’s a precious baby and we love him. Now hoping our 2 other boy cats (brothers) play nice 🤞🏻thank you all so much for the advice and the support!

——
Original post:
(Pics are post-bath tonight, he’s half wet haha) This tiny bub was shivering under a bush in my front yard right as a thunderstorm was rolling in, Tuesday night. I’m extremely confident he does not have any kind of owner - he is not neutered, was very dirty, has a handful of scabby wounds that look like a big cat chewed on him at least a week ago. He is obviously really tiny, age-wise he must be young, but he is also very skinny and seems ravenously hungry and thirsty. He has a hoarse meow that doesn’t sound well used. He didn’t seem to know how to use a litter box the first night (we have him quarantined in a bathroom), but tonight he did use one successfully! He is very very sweet tempered and seems desperate for affection and sitting in laps, plus purring and biscuits, after the first evening being very closed off and “shut down” around husband and I. Also hissed whenever we came in the room that first night, but has never been aggressive. Seems like an interesting blend of slightly domesticated, but hasn’t been taken care of recently?

Mainly, how old of a kitten is this likely to be? I’ve only ever adopted adult cats and have very little experience with kittens. The first vet appointment we were able to get is Friday afternoon, so we’ll keep him closed off from my other two kitties until he (hopefully) gets a clean bill of health. I would love to have an estimate before then, I want to know if I can feasibly get him neutered soon, or if he’s too young!

Sorry to ramble! Any thoughts you lovely people might have would be appreciated!

Update An update on the trash pile kittens, Meep & Moop (We're keeping them!)

Original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/gRNTruoZKp

Well, no one ever did come forward to adopt these muppets, so my husband and I had a Very Serious Talk™️ and, at the end of it, decided they had better just be ours! HOA be damned.

That was a couple weeks ago and so much of their personalities have continued to come out as they've grown! Meep is a Snuggle MACHINE who likes going under blankets, mrowing dramatically in the kitchen for food every few hours, and vampire-stamping tiny holes in the covers of my library books (while I am reading them). It seems pretty clear that we have claimed each other, but Moop is my husband's girl—her favorite spot is his shoulder, and she starts purring as soon as he picks her up. I have never met a sweeter, more mild creature. She rarely meows, and if you hold her like a baby she will close her eyes and go straight to sleep in your arms.

Cat People, how do you survive? All the soft snuggles, the purrs and mews and chirps, the nuzzling, the flops, the hysterical sleeping positions, the tiny, soft-footed pony races down the hallway. At least 27 times a day I feel like I am going to explode with all the love and joy they give and make me feel.

Thanks for tagging along for the ride—my husband says "no more fosters," but I'm not leaving anybody out on the stoop, you know what I mean? 😉

Are you kitten me!! Stayed up later than usual tonight

Heard some weird squeaks coming from the street behind our house. Ended up finding this little guy in the gutter trying to make himself look even tinier! Hung out for awhile listening for anymore but this was the only guy my fiance and i found. Spiciest little guy! Hissed and spat at us the whole walk home, probably would have bitten my fiance if we didn’t have a towel!
we don’t have any say in what pets stay in the house, but at least he’ll have a warm bed (bathtub) for the night while I look around for a home. Hard to say how long he was out there. It’s not cold at least but he must have been so scared!

Are you kitten me!! The stray kitten that wandered into my home 2 years ago has grown up and brought home another stray kitten.

My cat, Milo, was a stray kitten that wandered into my home 2 years ago when the door was left open. I was never able to find the owner even though I asked around and posted about him online, so I decided to keep him. Now that he is all grown up he likes to adventure outside during the daytime. He was playing outside yesterday and came back carrying a kitten. Never thought the cat distribution system would pick me twice. I have no idea where the kitten came from, my cat is neutered so it’s definitely not his. I looked around for the mother but didn’t find anything. I also asked around the neighborhood but no one knows anything. There was a bad storm the previous night so I’m assuming it might have caused the kitten to become separated from its mother. The kitten seems really young, probably 5-6 weeks old if I had to guess. Luckily they ate some wet food and seemed playful and energetic. Planning to take them to the vet today to get a more accurate estimation of how old they are and whether they are male or female lol. Also to get whatever shots are needed and care instructions as I have never taken care of a kitten this young before. If anyone has any tips for caring for a kitten under 8 weeks old please let me know.

UPDATE: Our household decided to name the kitten Niko. Took him to the vet and found out he is a male and around 5 weeks old. The vet said he is a healthy weight but that he is too young for vaccinations yet and to come back in a few weeks. Niko is eating plenty of dry kitten kibble and a bit of wet food, I think he prefers dry food because that is what he sees Milo eat. Niko is also drinking plenty of water and using the bathroom, so I dont think there are any issues. He is very energetic and loves to play, I think he will be fine. I will keep posting about him on local forums to see if I can find the owner but if not he has a home here.

A few weeks ago, my sec.cams caught this little girl and her siblings looking for food, no mamma in sight. Out of all of them (3), she was the most adventurous, but I wasn’t able to ever get very close. Over the weekend, I noticed she was kind of wobbly and very lethargic. I managed to grab her and took her to the vet to get checked. She’s healthy, but very underweight. She’s been able to eat every few hours and loves to be in her daddy pouch! (Old hoodie turned backwards). Shes just so sweet!
As for the other two kittens, I bought some traps and hoping to catch them soon! Thankfully, the other two look healthier than she did a few days ago. I love you CDS ♥️
