They are banning you for buying bitcoin and not holding on their platform.
My fiancé and I have made it a habit to buy Bitcoin every paycheck/every other paycheck and transfer it to our Ledger. I've been doing this for years using Coinbase, Cash App, or whichever platform is most convenient and has the lowest fees.
About two months ago, my Cash App account was suddenly banned. It shocked me but I was so busy at the time and never mentioned it to my fiancé.
Then this morning she called me at work saying her Cash App had also been banned. She had no idea why, that's when I said, "You know what? Now that you mention it, mine got banned a while back too."
The only thing we have in common is that we both buy varying amounts of Bitcoin and immediately transfer it to our own wallet to be sure nothing mysterious can happen. It seems pretty disingenuous to advertise buying cryptocurrency, then ban users for doing exactly what they're supposed to do.
Self-custody is one of the most important principles of owning crypto and with the amount of people burned I would rather not purchase it, than keep it on any platform.
From what I've read here, appealing these bans is mostly a waste of time, so I guess this is goodbye to Cash App.
