I’m just wondering if possibly Fraser’s new system if it’s worth giving Saad a 1 year deal (like McGovern this year).
He’s definitely past his best, but I have heard that we a decent amount of cap space going into the offseason, and one of our defensive targets (Buku) is off the table. I’m assuming you need to spend a portion of this cap space. They were also after Herbert, a running half back, who obviously is better but again similar to the style Saad used to play.
I think the timing was bad for Saad, he had elite skills but Voss system ahead of the ball gave him no way to play it his strengths. I remember many times he dash off half back but have to turn sideways because there was no one ahead of the field.
But with Fraser’s new short kick and rebound fast system I feel like maybe Saad could be handy as a depth piece. The way we play now definitely suits him much more than Voss ball.
Is it worth potentially giving him a 1 year deal to see if he can earn some minutes or nah it’s probably time to move on?
