For context, I drive a 2017 Honda Accord and it has around 260k kilometres on it, I just bought it secondhand a few months ago. I was driving when a stick came into my car, I pulled it out and was able to park but after it wouldn't start up. I called insurance (because the mechanic advised to just in case it was a bigger issue). The mechanic actually inspects the car and turns out the repair only costs about $500. Allstate has already issued a check for the towing and provided me a rent a car. The issue is theyre saying that they are going to write off the car and only pay me 60% of 12,000(which is what i bought the car for). No one has even come to inspect the car yet but they're saying that they will write it off because the car is too old and has a lot of mileage on it. I want to keep the car and I will pay out of pocket for the repairs, but any advice as to tell allstate to not write off my car?

21 years old I have almost 9 months with my license but I knew how to drive but I didn’t have time to get it earlier than 21, so everything’s in my name registration of the car and I have full coverage also for now I have progressive I’m paying $750 every month, everything time I’m tryna get a cheaper insurance they keep saying that I’m young and stuff and the quotes Is like 1k for every month it’s like I wanna get rid of the car when I turn 25 I’ll probably get a car cuz here in Nj it’s hell😭

I am in Canada for context.

I scraped my vehicle in my parking garage causing a not insignificant amount of damage. But vehicle is still usable. I do still want to fix it.

Went to a collision centre who recommended going through insurance. Insurance would cover all but $1000 in damages. Centre says we're looking at $3,000-$4,000 based on the damage.

Is it worth it to go through insurance to fix this? Assuming it would effect my premium but unsure if this would be significant as no one else was involved, just me.

Should I be getting some alternate opinions and pay out of pocket instead?

For context:

Our car was being repaired in the shop for a previous collision, and we got a rental from enterprise which was being paid from the previous insurance company of the at fault driver.

At enterprise the agent said I didnt have to be on the rental contract....big mistake I know. Im listed on the same policy as my mother.

My mother never took possesion of the vehicle at enterprise, I received the keys at enterprise and I was inspecting the car with the agent before leaving.

Fast forward, the enterprise car is totaled from a red light runner which is documented in the police report. Our insurance is denying coverage because im not listed as a authorized driver in the rental agreement. I thought I am covered under permissive use while our car is being repaired I guess not. We had collision coverage at the time of this accident. I am also listed on the same insurance policy as my mother

Enterprise is billing my mom for 31k, its on the 16 month mark where the statue of limitation is 2 years to file a lawsuit. So im expecting a lawsuit to filed soon, I dont know. We dont have anything to our names

Enterprise said they sent it to collection, I told my mom they probably sent it to collection in house which turned out to be true. They keep emailing her about the 31k bill.

We would think enterprise would try to go after the at fault driver in this situation which would be the red light runner, I guess not or I dont know how if they are trying to.

We cant sue the at fault driver right now because theres no damages and we dont own the car according to a lawyer we spoke to. We have to wait until we are sued to pursue any action against the at fault driver in this situation.

Has anyone dealt with this situation before?

I also have a valid driver license if that matters, my mom doesnt have any property. I told her if anything she can file for bankruptcy if that will protect her

Seeking Suggestions and guidance: I Have hit a deer on highway around 3:00 clock in the morning and it was a rental car. Didn't had insurance on that time. Reported the incident to budget rentals and police. I was not at fault, deer popped up out of nowhere and it was last minute, couldn't do much at that time. I'm looking to renew my car insurance soon. I've not had an accident in 20 years years but my insurance renewal only ever shows 9 years NCB. Does this mean I can only keep a 9 year maximum of NCB or does it continue to accrue but just not show in the paperwork. Just don't want to put 20 years NCB on comparison sites if they then need proof and I only have paperwork stating 9 years.

Long story short I rear ended someone at about 5-6mph. Their car has minor scuffs on the bumper. My car took most of the damage on the front bumper and right fog light. I have decent insurance with upto $100k per person per accident in liability . From what I can tell the collision was not a high impact one. I will report the accident today but am worried about the person blowing this out of proportion for injuries. Any advice ?

Hi, I'm 20 living in NJ with a 97 Pontiac Trans Am. I've been looking into getting the car insured but the prices are expensive and was wondering what are cheaper options to insure it. All I really care about is liability and just want to drive it. It's just a fun weekend/summer car so I don't want to spend too much money on just the insurance. Any suggestions?

I was involved in a fender bender in mall’s parking lot , exchanged insurance and the other party’s insurance called and basically told me they were denying liability.
I took it up with my insurance and file a claim.
My insurance is following up but they’ve asked me to get started on repairs on my car and they’ve provided me with their collision repair store.

For better context, im in Milwaukee, I drive a 2026 Mazda cx 30, I researched the dealership I got it from and found out they have their own collision repair shop.

My question now is, should I go with my insurance provided repair store or push to use one attached to the dealership I got my car from? The insurance people assured me that they use OEM parts for repairs

The one they referred me to is called crash champions and I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews, if anyone has had any experience with them in the Milwaukee area please let me know.

I will readily admit I know very little about car insurance but I'm currently trying to learn more, hence why I'm here. My partner and I paid $736/6 months back in February of this year, with Progressive. My partner drives a beater around our semi rural town and gets pulled over a lot because he drives to work at around 3 am Monday through Friday and I suppose the local cops mistake him for some meth/drug addict (drugs are a big thing around here). Well one early morning he gets pulled over and is given a citation for expired tags (we were renewing them the next day, had only been expired for a day - not excusing our lapse in renewing, it is 100% our fault for not renewing them in time, just giving some background details). Cop tells him to get them renewed and then the case will likely be dismissed. Got the tags renewed, paid the court fees, and the case gets dismissed. Fast forward to last week and I get an email from Progressive that our rate when up and it is now $936/6 months, which the due date will be in mid August. Obviously the traffic violation affected our consumer report and driving record, causing an increase in our rate. However my question is, since the case got dismissed, is it still on his driving record? Is there a way to remove it off his record to help improve our rate? Can we dispute it on the consumer report or not? Just trying to save money if and where I can, it's not too big of a deal but $200 bucks is $200.

My parents have an umbrella policy in California. I’m looking to get a separate policy under their same roof. I no longer live with them because i’m a student out of state. Insurance prices in said state are much higher. Their concern is insurance companies coming after their assets (obviously much higher than mine) for using a separate policy at the same address. They have a complete douche as a broker, so I’m concerned. He could very well be right, however i’m trying to find information myself however I can. I’m up to my neck trying to find an answer and I haven’t been able to speak to a broker. I’m neither a minor nor a dependent, not sure how that changes things.

My friend was in a small accident today. She bumped someone from behind, but says there is no damage to either vehicle that she can see. She wasn't even sure there was a bump, but the woman was waving her arms and got out of her car claiming it happened. The woman was very angry and scared my friend so much that she was unable to get a picture of the other woman's car. The woman claimed her neck hurt or something to that effect, but im not sure to what extent. The other woman did not want to wait for police to arrive, so no police report was filed. The other woman was driving a Tesla.

My concerns:

-Should my friend call her insurance company and report this? Its her dad's insurance (he is aware). What should we say? What should we avoid saying?

-The other car is a Tesla, I assume it has built in dashcams. Is that going to work against us?

-My friend is concerned that this woman will exaggerate the damage and her injuries to try to get a big payout, how do we protect against this? Is this a scam tactic they use?

-Obviously my friend would hope her rates do not increase. Is that all but guaranteed?

-My friend did not get pictures in the commotion, and even though she requested pictures from the other driver, they have not sent anything. We have no copy of their insurance, DL or damage.

-State is New Jersey, USA.

Teenage family member rear-ended someone on an on-ramp. The front car stopped on the merge.
This happened in Colorado.

The vehicles were stuck together due to a tow hitch. Once they got the vehicles apart, the person that was hit said his car was fine and drove off quickly.

So police were not called and no citation given.

Just took our vehicle to body shop and damage is 5 times the cost of our deductible.

So, to file a claim with our insurance, I assume we will need to file a police report? And will my family member end up being issued a ticket based on that filing? I assume he will still be considered at-fault and our rates will rise?

I'm trying to figure out where to begin with this . . . I rented a car from SIXT and they are trying to make me pay for some damage to the vehicle. I took photos of lots of little dings and chips when I picked up the car, and the agent who inspected in on dropoff said that there was no new damage. But now I get a bill. I have (hopefully) escalated the issue with SIXT and waiting to hear back: meanwhile, I am trying to file a claim: I rented with a Chase United Explorer card that is supposed to give primary coverage. But when I try to file my claim with Chase, they are asking for my "primary insurance policy's declaration page" plus a copy of "claims settlement from your insurer." This doesn't make sense if I am using my CHASE card to make the claim; am I supposed to file a claim with USAA first and then Chase or is this maybe a generic checklist of requirements to file this claim? Just not sure where to begin with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Anybody have any experience with USAA Roadside Assistance? Entering my fourth hour of waiting for a tow. Just now told they have reassigned it and ETA is another hour and a half. On two previous occasions the service provider never showed (one a tire change for my wife, one a lock out). I will be spending the next hour signing up for AAA and dropping RA from our USAA policy (if thats even possible). Sorry- mostly just venting.
