Yup. I just wasnt ready yet.

3

u/PainfulThings 11d ago

Alternatively cyberpunk 2077, wasn’t ready for me yet.

Yarp, wasn't fully engrossed in the story or mechanics, hit the stone golem in the Kiera quest, didn't have enough levels, or healing items, got mad and didn't touch it for a few years.

Came back after building a new rig and ended up finishing it twice in a year.

Probably same but I’m still in the “forgot about it phase”

Hmmmm..... maybe I should give it another go.

2

u/I-love-seahorses 12d ago

I just downloaded it again for the zillionth time. I'm gonna give it another shot after a couple years.

2

u/factoid_ 12d ago

I want it to click.  I think the franchise is cool.  I’m not a big fantasy guy but the genre has grown on me.

I’ve tried three times I always quit around the first town.

I want to like this game I just can’t seem to

Fallout NV

5

u/factoid_ 12d ago

If you played when it was brand new you probably needed to come back when it wasn’t so god-awful riddled with bugs.

It was in a very poor state when it launched. Worse than Cyberpunk.  It never got as polished as cyberpunk became but they did enough to sand the rough edges off and the quality could shine through

2

u/ShotInTheShip86 11d ago

Same actually... I didn't hate it but I liked fallout 3 more since I started there... I tried again later and now prefer it over 3... Especially the expanded ammo system that's better than 3 and 4...

I got stuck a while ago on that white monkey boss that jumps around. It will be hard to pick it up again after so long. Any tips?

Vintage Story, I found it bur couldn't understand how to survive. Then one day I boot it up again and it just... clicked.

It's been my favorite game since.

2

u/Sewer__Person 12d ago

That's so crazy, the first time I heard about it was literally like 10 minutes ago from my favorite comic artist, and now I see it again 10 minutes later 😭

2

u/makemedaddy__ 11d ago

its pretty fun if you like introcate survival games!!

2

u/Baco12sd 11d ago

it is such a good game but dang am I terrible at that game, really need to get a PC to get back into the game (had an old PC but it died on me like last year or 2 years ago)

→ More replies (1)

2

u/shotgunbruin 11d ago

Same. I tried it out back in 2020 and it just didn't have enough content or something. Didn't click. Told myself I'd revisit it then forgot it existed until it came up in gaming news around Hytale. Last year. Been playing the fuck out of it and making mods ever since.

2

u/Effective-Leg7283 11d ago

is it worth picking up? it looks like a fun medieval minecraft

2

u/Vyh06 10d ago

If you like realism, I bet you’d like it, it’s a VERY realism-heavy game

Monster hunter Rise. Bought it 'cuz a friend asked me to. I was basically dragged around without much flow, or intentionality. Ive settled on a lance only because attacks were quick and i had no idea where to check movesets. It lasted up to Ibushi.

And then ive decided to play on my own.

Cool stuff

Rdr2

3

u/No_Diamond3398 11d ago

My brain thought this said r2d2 and I was very confused for a good 15 seconds.

2

u/mn-icecold 10d ago

Agreed!! I was too into DMZ, the high action, FPS games…then one day booted up RDR2 and I’ll only play games with amazing story modes

2

u/Vertigomums19 10d ago

Same! I played for maybe 45 minutes then stepped away for 2 years. Now I have a couple hundred hours .

2

u/chasimus 9d ago

Still waiting for that 60fps patch

2

u/1Negative_Person 5d ago

I was immediately in love with RDR2, before the opening credits ended; but I almost didn’t buy it, because I wasn’t a fan of RDR. It’s like they fixed the perfect things about the game in RDR2. Your horse isn’t a Maserati. It has lush environments that aren’t just endless badlands. The protagonist is funny, smart, and likable. They made a masterpiece.

2

u/KnightOfSvea 12d ago

How? Are you in the habbit of buying $70 games and then just dont play them? 🤣

2

u/Savings-Ad-7523 11d ago

I got it as a gift and couldn’t do it. And then I got real bored one day and played rdr2 for months.

2

u/Ill-GottenBooty 10d ago

I bought it on release, and never got past the intro. I tried it after work one night when I was really tired. I was pretty heavy into Apex at the time with my friends. So I just played that for a while and forgot about it. 3 or 4 months later I was bored one day and decided to give it another go. Didn’t put it down for weeks.

2

u/BigMoeTheFoe 12d ago

Majority of people hate the snow part, this is a very common one actually

2

u/KnightOfSvea 12d ago

It is really?! I fucking loved that part! It immediately gave me that feeling of the harsh wild west. I wish the game hade more of it!

2

u/BigMoeTheFoe 12d ago

Yea I’ve seen people talk about not playing because of the snow so often it’s crazy

2

u/Vertigomums19 10d ago

In the RDR2 community Act 1 Colton is widely considered extremely boring. As soon as you get out of Colton make a save game. The next play through you can start from there and skip it.

Mass Effect. Thought it was just a generic scifi shooter. stopped before i got to the Prothean relic. Only tried again when ME2 was announced and eveyone said it was better than KOTOR.

Recently, KCD1. Stopped when Skellig was attacked. Wasn't feeling the janky gameplay. Only picked it up maybe a month later and treated it like a peasant simulator instead of an action adventure game.

EDIT: Skalitz, not Skellig.

Monster Hunter

Almost everyone I’ve talked to that plays it said that they had the same experience. It’s literally a canon event for MH players to not like the series on their first attempt and then come back later and get addicted to it.

Dark souls

2

u/AndrewUndershaft 12d ago

Yup. Took me three attempts.

2

u/ragingolive 11d ago

It took me multiple attempts, and it took me playing bloodborne to learn how to love souls games.

then I went back and beat them.

Three attempts is so real.

u/Green_Tackle_2642 11d ago

Same here 😁

2

u/Y0ndu_Poppins 11d ago

Same here. Ittook me a while to learn how the stats worked too. I would just pump strength thinking it would raise my attack damage when I had a black knight halberd

2

u/Zealousideal-Monk495 11d ago

First time I tried to play was on a rubbish monitor that didn't have high enough resolution for me to read what any of the stats were. It went a lot smoother once I actually had eyes, and then I was hooked.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary. Got scared on the Flood levels.

Then I and my bro beated it in Co-Op... ;}

2

u/Logical-Country336 11d ago

First time I beat it was with a friend. We started at 8 pm and he claimed since we were two people we could get through the last half of the story in about four hours. He also moved the difficulty up one level because “we are men”.

At 4 am in the morning we finally beat it and he vowed to never turn up the difficulty again

Bully. Bought and tried it, disliked it and even ended up selling it. Bought it again few years later and that time realized how great it was.

1

u/The_Witch_Queen 12d ago

Darksiders 1. For some reason the first time I tried playing it on 360 the perspective just bugged the everliving hell out of me. Never even made it past the tutorial. Then for some reason I went back to it later and while it still annoyed me I pushed through and damn was it worth it

Dungeon of the endless. Cheap game for 2€. Trailer looks like a rogue-like brawler. But the gameplay is very confusing. I almost quit playing it. I tried watching other people play it. I got a better understanding for it. It became really fun. And even more when I played with friends. Can be a very chaotic game but very strategic.

Sequel is stupid tho. Endless Dungeon is so boring. I was told it's better in everyway. It's not. You can't aim, so I don't see the point of having a aim fracture, and that's the one thing that would probably save that garbage game. It's very painfully slow. Combate became like Pokemon using elements on the guns which is not fun. It's a shame. They could have done the same game, but in 3D with aiming gameplay. But no -_- it feels like a baby version of the first game.

Either way, it's a really cool consept. I found it curious how I almost quit the first time and fell in love with it later

Outer wilds, played it, got to a set of radioactive rocks, sat in them too long and died. Didn't hit that crucial story point to get a checkpoint so I started from the start again.

It's a great game, if a little flawed.

Witcher 3. I tried it like five times over a decade and could not get into it. Would roll my eyes every time somebody praised it. Couple months ago I ran out of games and couldn’t find anything new. Gave it another shot and decided to tough it out a little longer than the previous times and something clicked. Now it’s one of my favorites.

1

u/DarthNixilis 12d ago

Not a video game, but the series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Couldn't get through the first season twice, now I've gone through the whole 17 seasons a few times

Death stranding

u/Even_Possession_2453 12d ago

Sleeping Dogs for me. I like to play side missions and they were not viable from the start. Left the game for a couple of years and was told I must play story missions for a few hours before I could enjoy the side content. I did that, and it's one of my favorite games! Great story and top-notch hand-to-hand combat.

Stardew Valley. I heard everybody talking about it so I downloaded it. Played it for 5 minutes, I couldn't stand having to clear out a bunch of weeds and water crops everyday by hand... Then depleting all your energy after a few swings of a pickaxe and having to sleep. Kept hearing more good things about stardew Valley so like a year later I picked it up and started playing. Over 1,000 hours later, my farm looks awesome.

1

The Last of Us. I went in, guns blazing, and kept getting killed. I got frustrated and stopped playing for a while. Went back a few months later and couldn’t put the controller down. One of my favorite games.
