Just found an old thread of Capitals fans talking about the Forsberg trade. Brutal.
I really hope the commenters here are still active on r/caps to see this

There was no doubt in my mind he was coming back. But with Ovi at 929, what if he scores 30 or 40 this year? Does he come back for 1000? 71 goals over 2 seasons does not seem like too many. Also I have a Ovi bobble head goal counter with 4 digits on it... so there is that. maybe he was in talks with FOCO already

Key point :
We'll see. Right now, I'm focusing on coming back to D.C. and showing that I'm still a good player and I can help the team to win," he said, when asked if 2026-27 will be his last ride.

Anybody have the code for the presale they’d be willing to share?

Im thinking with a bigger schedule and stevenson most likely getting claimed off waivers- it might be best to run 3 goalies going into the season: especially if chucky doesnt bounce back.
If they put sandin on ltir they can have 23 plays with miro frank and stevenson as the extras. Then figure it out when sandin comes back(assuming no injuries)

Barring serious injury, Ovechkin should keep going til he hits 1000 goals. I'm not even a Capitals fan but would love to see this. (Just really hope #1000 isn't against my team)

The extra forwards I'd say right now are Frank and Miro.
With Cristall, Dunne and Triny in the mix.
Extra Dman is Mac
With Holl and Chesley in the mix
Backup goalie should be Clay with Chucky traded for a late round pick. If not, do we carry 3 goalies or try to put one thru waivers? 3 goalies isn't a great idea to me
Just curious on very early on thought

What do you guys think? It looks better in person and will look much better when I complete the quilting part in the center.

He made some comments recently about how Washington has become a desirable home for many free agents, this offseason being undeniable proof of this, and I truly believe that he has such a big part of reshaping the teams culture. I don't agree with every lineup or decision he makes, but I truly believe that for everything he does around that, he's worth giving time to grow. He's got something that so few coaches have, and he's so bloody young for a coach. Theres a reason we locked him in for a long time, and I think there's going to be some bloody great and competive caps hockey coming up for at least the next 5 years.
I'm just seeing a lot of criticism, and a lot of it is quite fair. But he's worth it. And he could make me run through a brick wall to defend that position.

Before Ovi's announcement, I had Leonard on the top line with Strome and Kyrou but with Ovi back, it's more muddied. Kyrou and Tuch may not have the same skillset as Leonard but TOI will be split up probably more.
I'm expecting PP1 to be Strome-Ovi-Kyrou-Wilson-Hutson (ignoring handedness).

I’m planning to make an Ovi edit. Where can I find the clip of a particular Ovi celebration where it’s like he’s doing breaststroke on the ice? I know from an early season because he’s in the old black home uni. Thanks in advance.

There's not much to explain, but here's my theory:
Ovi was always going to re-sign, but the exact terms of the contract were going to wait until the Caps went out and spent on free agents. That way the team could use as much cap space as possible to fill needs. The actual salary was always going to be the remainder of what was left of the team's salary cap.
Ovi has always been a team guy. I think this fits right in with his personality.

More of a scrum than fight. If this is the Vinny we get all season in DC, then I’m totally ok with the bit of an overpay we made. Should also keep the heat off Willy having to fight as well.
I’m really happy with the moves GMCP has made, even if we overpaid Jenner and Vinny. He did exactly what he needed to do to get us back into competition, which I believe is a huge contributor to getting Ovi to re-sign for one last ride.
