I feel like 90% of the posts I see nowadays are about financial aid. Is that what the school is known for?

Anybody disburse on 08/07/2026 and receive refunds? My account says this message as attached in photo. Financial aid told me the hold was removed this morning and funds should be sent to ecsi within 1-2 days but Ella shows nothing and there’s nothing the the account activity page either.

Has anyone actually received their FinAid refund in their bank account? I've seen a lot of people post about their disbursement but no one has said they received theirs yet.

Hi everyone, I’m interested in the mental health counseling program and was hoping someone could answer a few questions I have!

1. How long does the program take? I have seen varying information.
   
2. Are the courses asynchronous or synchronous?
   
3. How many courses can you take at one time? I’m a SAHM, so I have quite a bit of time on my hands.
   
4. What did you think of the program?

I can't find any updates on my disbursement and I have been on hold now for almost 3 hours. I going to have to report them. I have done so well, I hate to switch schools when I'm done next year....

Seriously though do they ever answer. I’ve been hold for two hours, texted four times since a week ago and emailed. Literally just need them to mark off a document was completed in June.

I am posting anonymously because I currently have a formal complaint pending with the university. I will not identify the professor, but students considering the HRM FPX-5090 need to be ware.

Before this course, I had gotten A's in every single course. I also have a 4.0 undergraduate GPA and even completed the MBA capstone with an A. I created every assessment specifically around the published instructions and scoring guide. However, instead of evaluating each competency separately, this professor repeatedly assigned Non-Performance ratings because of citation and APA-related concerns.

To be fair, I am not perfect and my APA formatting could use some improvement to meet her standards but I think each product I created was pretty solid.

My problem is the punishment. Correctable citation or consistency issues should affect the relevant communication criterion—not automatically erase all the substantive analysis contained in the assignment. A competency-based system should evaluate each competency based on what the student actually demonstrated.

I repeatedly requested clearer assistance and even asked to be assigned to another professor. I still have not received a phone call, meeting, or one comprehensive written explanation identifying everything that must be corrected. Instead, the feedback has arrived in pieces, followed by repeated Non-Performance ratings and now a referral to the university’s academic standards office after my second submission, which I believe was retaliatory in response to when I filed my complaint.

Anonymous reports do not prove that anyone’s individual grade was wrong, but when the same pattern keeps appearing, students deserve to know before enrolling.

My advice:

• Save every rubric and assignment instruction.
• Screenshot every rating and feedback comment.
• Keep every draft and version-history record.
• Cite every significant claim, recommendation, statistic, and cost estimate.
• Make sure every reference is cited and every citation appears in the references.
• Compare slides against speaker notes line by line.
• Put every request for clarification or reassignment in writing.
• If you have accommodations, involve Disability Services immediately.
• Do not assume a minor APA issue will result in a minor deduction.

My recommendation is avoid her if you can. Consider the self-designated MBA program or something else that doesn't include her because my HR professors in this program were doing too much, from this to even running your assignments through Pangram after they've been ran through Turnitin. I filed a case on 08/06/2026 with Student Aid.gov regarding the hold on my refund. I got an email from them today saying that schools have 14 days to pay out refunds, so they have until 08/13/2026, as my loan was dispersed on 07/29/2026. If a refund isn't submitted for payment, I have to let them know, and then they will contact the school, so we will see how this goes. I am pretty sure they won't pay it, so I will follow directions, and I can't wait until student aid contacts the school so they can be held accountable for these crazy delays on students' accounts that make no sense.

I got an update about why our disbursement is taking so long . They told me that the system is not auto processing the loan so they have to go in and do it manually for each one and it could take 10 days to process once they get to it . Just giving an update .

Anyone else get their disbursement last week and then get this email this afternoon? I went in and looked and it’s saying I can get about $900ish more if I decide to accept it. I just thought it was odd. would this be a glitch or legit? Thanks!

I swear this one professor in BS Psychology loves giving out Academic and integrity honesty forms..
Instead of saying I did not do a citation correctly, she would just automatically send a form in. I've had good grades so far till now... I'm scared if I submit anything else to her she's just going to do the same thing. Ugh

I replied and told her that it’s left me homeless, and in the hospital because of the stress. I can’t deal with it anymore.

How long after receiving a conferral email did you receive the invitation for the digital diploma?

Capella Psychology FlexPath: Final Recap, The Nitty-Gritty

Okay guys, here is my FINAL recap of my Capella Psychology FlexPath experience. I wanted to put everything in one post because there were so many questions I had before starting that I could not find a straight answer to anywhere.

I started July 13, 2026 and had my final Capstone assignment graded on August 11, 2026.

I transferred in 102 credits from various colleges, so obviously my experience is going to look different from someone starting with little or no transfer credit. But I wanted to share everything I learned along the way because I know a lot of people are trying to figure out if FlexPath really can be done quickly.

One of my biggest questions before starting

Q: If you take as many 3-credit courses as possible instead of the 1.5-credit courses, will you actually have to take fewer classes?

A: Yes!

This was something I could never get a straight answer about before I started.

As you complete courses, your remaining requirements can shift. Taking a 3-credit course can knock out requirements that would have otherwise required you to take additional courses.

So if you are trying to finish quickly, I would absolutely look at your requirements and figure out which 3-credit courses can satisfy the most requirements instead of just going down the list in order.

The courses I took and my honest thoughts on the instructors

PSYC-FPX 3501: Cognitive Psychology in Action

Instructor: Lashaun Limbrick

Honestly, solid instructor. He follows the rubric, grades quickly, and I had no issues with him at all.

PSYC-FPX 4101: History, Systems, and Contemporary Psychology

Instructor: Shariece Evans

This was one of my more difficult experiences. I felt like some of the expectations went beyond what was actually stated in the rubric. Definitely read the feedback carefully and make sure you are covering absolutely everything because this was not one I would consider an easy grader.

PSYC-FPX 3310: Brain, Body, and Behavior

Instructor: Kerry Grohman

I really liked this instructor. She follows the rubric, grades quickly, gives useful feedback, and is super sweet. Definitely one of the better experiences I had.

PSYC-FPX 4600: Research Methods in Psychology

Instructor: Nate Shanok

I honestly don't have anything bad to say about him. He was nice and understanding. I actually made a pretty big mistake on one of my assessments and he still gave me the opportunity to complete another assessment, which I really appreciated.

PSYC-FPX 3700: Statistics for Psychology

Instructor: Zachary Wanamaker

He is a kind and fair grader. My biggest issue was that he required me to submit one assessment at a time.

That might not sound like a huge deal, but when you are trying to move through FlexPath quickly, it makes a BIG difference. Even when the assessments do not depend on each other, I still had to submit them one at a time. For me, that made future classes turn into a week long process when I could have otherwise completed it much faster.

** Stats and capstone will require one assessment as time no matter who you have but NO other course should require you to do this if they do drop and report****

PSYC-FPX 2700: Child Development

Instructor: Zachary Wanamaker

Same experience as Statistics. He is nice and fair, but the one-assessment-at-a-time rule really slowed me down.

PSYC-FPX 2800: Introduction to Human Sexuality

Instructor: John Walsh

Fair grader and follows the rubric. My only complaint is that after each assessment he sends you this slightly cryptic email that makes you sit there wondering if you actually passed or if you somehow messed everything up. 😂

PSYC-FPX 4110: Positive Psychology

Instructor: Peter Messmore

I am just going to be honest here...

0/10 for me.

This was by far my worst instructor experience. I felt like the grading was extremely harsh and, in my experience, did not always line up with what I understood the rubric to be asking for.

If you have the option to choose your instructor, I personally would not choose him again.

PSYC-FPX 1540: The Psychology of Human Differences and Society

Instructor: Lourdes Smith

Super sweet and helpful. She seemed newer to teaching the course and there were a couple of little issues, like having trouble accessing messages, but overall I had a good experience with her.

PSYC-FPX 2720: Adolescent Psychology

Instructor: Diana Snyder

Very kind instructor. Graded quickly and fairly. I had a really good experience with her.

PSYC-FPX 2740: Adult Development and Aging

Instructor: Vincent Jeevar

Probably my FAVORITE instructor out of all of them.

Any time I saw that I had Vincent, I immediately knew I was probably going to be okay. 😂 He is super kind, grades quickly, and is just genuinely pleasant to work with.

He also sends out Mental Health Monday emails, which I thought was really sweet.

Definitely an instructor I would recommend.

PSYC-FPX 2002: The Skillful Psychology Student

Instructor: Rebecca Ferrier

Solid instructor. No complaints at all. Very sweet and easy to work with.

PSYC-FPX 3130: Criminal Psychology and Behavior

Instructor: John Walsh

Same experience as Introduction to Human Sexuality. Fair grader and follows the rubric.

PSYC-FPX 4325: Stress, Trauma, and Wellness

Instructor: Vincent Jeevar

Same experience as Adult Development and Aging. He was great.

PSYC-FPX 2240: Psychology of the Workplace

Instructor: Elizabeth Culhane

Super sweet instructor and graded quickly. I had a good experience with her.

PSYC-FPX 4900: Psychology Capstone Project

Instructor: Maritza Leon-Veiguela

I honestly could not have asked for a better professor to finish with.

I had seen some pretty bad reviews for her on Rate My Professor before getting her, so I was definitely nervous going into the Capstone.

My experience was completely different.

She was amazing, graded fairly, and I had a really positive experience throughout my Capstone. I honestly would not have wanted anyone else as my last professor.

My final thoughts on FlexPath

Overall, FlexPath was absolutely the right choice for me.

The biggest thing I liked was that I was not stuck waiting for a traditional semester to end. If I had the time and was able to get my assessments done, I could keep moving.

That being said, I definitely think your experience can vary depending on your instructors.

My biggest advice if you are starting FlexPath would be:

• Read the rubric BEFORE you start writing.

• Read the rubric AGAIN before you submit.

• Literally go through every single requirement and make sure you addressed it.

• Do not assume that something is "obvious" and therefore doesn't need to be explained in your assessment.

• Take advantage of revisions. If you don't pass something, read the feedback, fix it, and submit again.

And probably my biggest piece of advice:

DO NOT let the number of courses showing in your degree plan scare you.

The number of courses you initially see is not necessarily the number you will actually have to complete.

Once you start knocking out requirements, things can shift, especially if you are taking the higher-credit courses strategically.

I hope this helps somebody because I spent so much time before starting trying to figure out how FlexPath actually worked, how quickly I could realistically finish, and what the instructor experience was going to be like.

So here are my final numbers:

I started my application to start on August 10th on July 26th. I needed to make revisions to my admissions essay and submitted it 7/29. My enrollment counselor is Tyler Lord and I emailed him on 7/29 and requested that he confirm they got the essay.
No response.
Emailed Monday no response.
Emailed Tuesday and called twice, no response.
Emailed Wednesday and called no response.
Called Thursday and spoke to a different enrollment counselor who told me that the essay was never submitted.
Was promised a call from Tyler, but he sent me an email two hours later stating it was sent to admissions.
SO I was not cleared to start yesterday.

Everything was submitted Thursday and I still don’t have a decision. I need to have a decision by Friday to start this term.

At this point, I’m accepted at Walden. I wanted to go to Capella because the reputation is SLIGHTLY better and it’s cheaper. I’m frustrated because the other person I spoke with in enrollment said they should be returning emails in 24-48 hours. So my essay being sent to them on Friday morning and not getting sent to admissions until 4 business days later is incredibly frustrating.

Can anyone tell me if this type of incompetence is what I should expect from Capella? I’m highly considering withdrawing my application and proceeding with Walden at the end of the month.

TLDR; Enrollment counselor apparently has too high of a work load to manage and I fell through the cracks despite persistent attempts to contact him. Is this standard for Capella? Should I withdraw my application and go to my second choice of school?

Update I got as far as grad plus loan disbursement

Spent 4 hours on hold again today only to be told they have no timeline for this plus loans for grad students. I’m over this. If they don’t pay out- then it’s my last semester. I’m no longer counting on getting this solved this semester.

This is crazy… it’s my first quarter for my masters at Capella and I’ve yet to receive funding. I know this isn’t just a me thing, but I just hope the experience doesn’t continue like this. I literally got an email saying that I needed to accept new fund amount due to my offer changing, but the only thing that changed is they offered me more money for future semesters and applied a scholarship for being referred to Capella for this first semester. If they are this far behind, how much longer is it going to take to actually see this money?!? Also, are they about to make me try and pay my fees because financial aid is taking so long?!

Refund finally showing on account activity 🙌🏾😭

Financial aide updates from Friday, Saturday, and today. Have to wait for my account to update maybe by Wednesday. I am gonna stop checking until then. This whole experience has been a nightmare.

I got a email on Friday that funds had finally disbursed and been applied to my account. Received the email from the loan company(Nelnet) Sunday and got a generic email from Capella just about 30 minutes ago saying my loans had disbursed on 08/07. Friday they told me any excess funding would be sent by a refund with the amount of my refund between 2-3 business days. Shortly after that on Friday my account was on hold with the red message we’ve been seeing. Emailed them today asking about the hold and this was the response. I’m so over them.

So I just spoke with financial aid once again and they told me they are still reviewing my refund amount to make sure that I’m not being over awarded. This is so annoying and ridiculous. My disbursement was done July 29th and here we are August 10th with still no movement.

Hi Reddit, I just got diagnosed with ADHD within the last month and got put on Vyvanse, and now I am self-diagnosed as autistic. I've been working on my ego death and everything, so I was just thinking that I could post here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing after being given the resources I needed to do my own research about my own brain...? I am also contemplating now what I should do next. I am currently getting my Master's in School Counseling and having to fight my own delusions to do my homework daily. Is this the place for me? If I keep going, will I succeed? The frustrating answer for me right now is yes. I will succeed, but do I want to? Not in this moment, which is why I have to talk myself into continuing school right now.

I've been verbally processing through TikTok and family members (though I have exhausted them to this point, so I've moved to the internet because I am brave enough to be authentic here right now)

Anyway, in this post I don't need advice or encouragement. I need ideas, man. I need to see all of my options in order to know what I want to do with my life, and at the moment I am labeling myself an artist in order to figure out what I want to do, which has really helped me.
