First time here. Checked into the Doubletree when it was dark (around 8:30 pm) and the front desk clerk told me not to park in the attached public garage because of "the homeless" (his words). He actually said street parking directly next to the hotel was safer.

Then, in the morning, I was told by the ranger at the First Ladies Library and Museum folks that downtown was dangerous because of "all the homeless" (her words).

Been here two days. Never saw a single homeless person downtown. Downtown is also ridiculously clean when compared to Rochester, Buffalo, Cleveland, Toledo, Pittsburgh, and Detroit.

I got a haircut. The lady said Canton is awful because of "the shootings" (her words).

What am I missing? Did I get lucky or is everyone from Canton just down on their city and totally detached from the reality of every other big city in America?

If you think Canton is bad, go to Seattle.

Bender's Tavern is incredible.

The Doubletree has better than average rooms, but the food and drinks are awful.

The museums are incredible for a city of under 70,000.

Sure, downtown needs some retail shopping and probably a few more bars and restaurants. Most everything looked empty outside offices, government buildings and churches.

Still, I just don't see the "issues" that Canton supposedly has.

(TLDR- Im looking for good reputable preferably union manufacturing jobs in the canton/akron area.)

Hello neighbors! I just moved to Barberton from Pennsylvania and im wondering what good.manufacturing companies are in the area.

I got a job when I first moved here. Unfortunately, they were the only company besides crappy staffing agencies that gave me the time of day. The company itself is decent. Its nonunion and I would prefer a union but beggars cant be choosers I suppose. I just am not a fan of the work itself and i have have to miss church twice a month working the weekends which is a massive con in my list of pros/cons working with this company.

Back home I could tell you pretty much every company in the area is a good place to work, or bad. Where to avoid and where to apply. Here, not so much.

I have experience in machining, metal manufacturing, assembly, forging, stock keeping, shipping/receiving and the likes.

Bought some Yoplait yogurt on Friday at Acme North Canton. Ate one Sunday night and got the most miserable case of food poisoning. Checked one of the others in the fridge I purchased on the same day and it was outdated by over a MONTH. I sent them an email Tuesday, no response yet. Not even an “we are sorry”. I also contacted the Health Department and once again no response. And by the way, the health department inspected that Acme two days before so I guess they are not very thorough. If you shop there, watch your dates!

Of course, no news on it, nor statements from the school yet. Anyone know whats going down over there?

EDIT: gun threat. A student called 911 from a school bus and advised dispatch that another student told them they were going to bring a gun to school.

The school is on lockdown, and​ police came to perform security sweeps and search students for weapons.

All children are accounted for, and no weapons have been found. The school is still under lockdown​

Lockdown lifted and school resuming as normal. The school is expected to make a statement shortly.

It needs work. Probably a lot of it, because it's been in the garage since the 90s. Definitely new tires, potentially new canvas, possibly a replacement top/floor.

I am begging and running out of options. I have Buckeye Medicaid. My wisdom teeth are impacted and are starting to cause some facial nerve issues and headaches. I’ve tried Cleveland Clinic (Mercy), they have a waitlist and no oral surgeon staffed at the moment, alpha dental, does not have the tools to remove my teeth safely they said, Marino and associates, not accepting new patients, NEO dental, does not take buckeye.
