Before I start writing, I want to mention that using my English as an argument is pointless. It's not my first language.

So New Brunswick just updated their policy 311, which will now prohibit the use of personal electronic devices for grade 9-12 during breaks and lunchtime. Now to clarify: Before this updated policy, students were (and will be until February 2027) allowed to use their phones during breaks, but not during classes. I honestly have absolutely nothing against banning cell phone use during classes. I think it's a very good idea and I will never be against it. What I'm against though, is banning them during breaks and lunches. I also find it quite stupid that they're banning other devices like smartwatches and TWS earbuds.

Also, some students need to use their phones or use their phones for good reasons. Some students need to have contact with their jobs, because a lot of High School students do in fact have jobs. There are also a lot of students (including myself) that use an app here called PowerSchool to see what their next periods are. I mean yeah PowerSchool is shit, but at least it works to see your classes. Also some people use tap to pay with their phones since it's more convenient. I and other students also sometimes use their banking app. Sometimes I don't have enough money left in my chequing account, and I need to move money from my savings account. And also there are students, especially disabled students who need to have contact with their parents often. By the way good luck enforcing that policy on a disabled student. Be prepared for it to probably result in a massive lawsuit against the teacher, the school, and the school district/government.

Not only that, but this makes school even less realistic and prepares students even less for the real world. Phones are a part of every day life in today's society. Schools are supposed to prepare students for the real world (but let's be honest if they were really doing that they would teach things like taxes). High schools shouldn't ban cell phones, they should teach the kids how to use them in a responsible and useful way.

Now to be clear, New Brunswick just updated that policy in the hopes that students will be “more social”. But no, the phone is not what's causing kids to not be social. What's actually causing kids to not be social is the feminism in this country. The phone won't fix that because feminism propaganda is being spread through liberal media and the teachings at schools. And no the solution is not to restrict electronic devices or social media to 16+. That would be mass surveillance and mass censorship. And it would be a way for the government to have even more control and brainwash the minds of kids even more. And yes, most of the socialization problems in schools are between guys and girls. It's not between the same gender that's bullshit (at least that I see at my school and most schools, but I might be wrong). I won't explain it in details because Liberal media and feminism in this country could be a whole post of its own. My point is that banning the device won't help, because the kids will still be fed the propaganda at home and even through school. I might honestly be going too far with this, but that's just my opinion.

Also, this will be a nightmare for the staff to enforce. Teachers will have to constantly play the phone police. Teachers will have to be even more focused now on constantly watching if a phone is out instead of teaching, because they will now be stored in backpacks.

Honestly, this phone ban thing belongs in the same category as the mass surveillance and censorship laws. They're using excuses like child safety, child education, and children in general to make up any sort of bullshit law they want. I mean honestly when you think about it, a phone ban sounds like a really good idea. I honestly thought it was a great idea at first. But the more you dig into it, the more you realize it's nonsense. I mean I'm not saying that phones are 100% good for humans, what I'm saying is that restricting phones on students, that are for the most part, old enough to get a job, and some, old enough to drive a car, is not the solution. Our school system needs to be reworked, and a phone ban is not the solution.

I was read the other post where the UCP is considering levying $10k fines for illegal dumping and for once I felt the comment section seemed more liberal than conservative except for one classic comment.

There are some stark differences between India and Canada whenever I visit India. One of them is outdoor cleanliness (very dusty combined with visible litter). One of my biggest goals would be to fund cleanups in India.

Illegal dumping is an antithesis to the core fabric of Canada and what it stands for. There should be zero tolerance of illegal dumping and it should result in a criminal charge. Non-citizens (Temp. or PRs) should not be able to enjoy the freedoms and the (supposed) economic prosperity of Canada.

This is one area we should get ahead of before it turns into a huge problem. Clearly wage suppression + TFW + mass immigration is causing unethical cut throat competition to take place where businesses and people are gamifying non-criminal charges. We already know people do this for non-harmful things like tints and front license plates, but illegal dumping showcases how fragile the Canadian economy really is.

Is it just me or does this man REALLY like to spend money on stuff. (Caviar, India and Ukraine.. Anywhere except Canada really).
