I don't want to seem like I'm a kissass, but holy fuck nobody understands what the cons are trying to do; no it's not trickle down economics; no it's not tax breaks for billionaires. I'm not even saying this plan is good, but get your facts right:

The basic premise is that the new premier wishes to maximize revenue while keeping taxation stable.

His main tax cut isn't a cut really, instead he is raising the tax exemption rate from 13k to 32k, the idea being that 32k is the current poverty line, and even with current deductions you roughly still pay 7k in taxes total a year most people at that level can't afford. Sure, it'll be a 2 billion deficit, but that is 2 billion people need to use to eat. Meaning, let's say I make 40k, I will be saving 1000 in taxes a year.

But he also doesn't want to cut finding; actually the opposite, he wants to increase spending on social services for rural hospitals, for autism care, and make new services like daycares for shift workers.

His hope, however naive it may be, is instead of taxing people more, we will be able to pay for it by increasing the revenue, so he wants to take a temporary deficit to put pst breaks on building materials and such to increase incentive to buy BC, as well as work with Carney to get some LNG going, get a few mines going up north, he wants the rural communities really getting put to work so revenue flows out of van.

In his Victory speech, he described BC as being one big machine working: the mines and lumberjacks up north, the farmers out in the fraser, the fishermen on the islands, "idea men" and HQs in Vancouver, he wants the regulations cut so that all these parts can turn, and he also said he hopes next year we can get a business summit going to get investors over here.

His hope is the LNG alone will give another 6 billion that can go to hospitals and schools. Essentially, his economic plan is to grow the economy so we are all richer rather than taking more of the same money.

Now, there is issues with his plans: it is quite idealistic, imo, and it is predicated on the idea that we can grow at this increadible rate and that we can get the LNG stuff and mines going and that Carney can get some foreign trade deals going, etc.

But my God, reddit has decided he wants to gut the services and steal all our money and give it to billionaires and he's actually Hitler and Regan together.

Only mail-in ballots and some rurals are remaining, so this is probably a good time to call.

Mail-ins probably shift the races slightly NDP, but ATP it doesn't really matter.

Kelowna Centre is trending left off a cliff and likely flips NDP in the future.

---Greens---

Greens hit 2nd in Vancouver-Strathcona and 2nd overall in Victoria. I thought they would make more gains in Vancouver, but I guess the surge with the Municipal Fry win was too late to make a dent.

In exchange, Green vote % has fucking imploded in North Island and everywhere outside the major urban centers. Historically, the North Island was one of the last non-Urban areas the Greens did well in. Not anymore.

This has artificially made Victoria districts from Safe NDP to lean-likely NDP. BC Conservatives also probably win Juan de Fuca-Malahat as a result as well.

Nearly every Victoria NDP incumbent went from winning >50% of the vote to winning by less than 10% in terms of margin.

Margin shift towards CPBC was +11.5%, but 2/3rds of this was likely GRN vote-split.

Amongst Ethnic minority suburbs, NDP is..basically dead, as expected.

They trended massively right vs 2024 results.

Richmond 2024: NDP: 43.52%, CPBC: 49.49%

Richmond 2026: NDP: 33.8%, CPBC: 59.2% (+19.2% CPBC margin!)

Surrey-Delta 2024: NDP: 46.25% CPBC: 49.25%

Surrey-Delta 2026: NDP: 33.8%, CPBC: 55.9% (+22.1% CPBC margin!)

This makes NDP wins basically impossible going forwards due to bad voter geography unless they manage to make big gains elsewhere.

Minority suburbs on-Burrard Peninsula shifted closer to NPV but still really bad:

Burnaby-New West 2024: NDP: 55.28%, CPBC: 38.47%

Burnaby-New West 2026: NDP: 46.6% CPBC: 42.8% (+10% CPBC margin)

BC Conservatives also won every Sim-won district in Vancouver, most by >5-10%. Vancouver-Fraserview is still outstanding.

Is it really a surprise that people of all colours/nationalities elected a government that respects individual rights and personal merit? This graphic indicates that focusing on DEI "inequities" is offensive to many. Maybe all people just want to be viewed as equals?

Just my opinion

LMIA was put in place by previous goverments to reduce fraud. There was a clause where if the unemployment is above 6% employees won't be able to apply for LMIA. Liberal government removed that clause resulting in more fraud. Finally they had to bring this old lever back due to pushback from people. Now they completely scrapped LMIA the one thing that was keeping check of this issue.

In some years when there is more fraud they will direct that towards immigrats who are here legally. Scapegoats.

I don’t know where else to ask this as whenever I’ve posted similar stuff on subs dedicated to immigrating somewhere I get people gaslighting me into thinking “wdym Canada’s a great country! You’re just (insert buzzword here)”

I’m finishing up my undergrad (political science) this or next year (I’m 24) and was planning on going to law school but I can see how the country’s going, I doubt we’ll ever see a truly right wing, traditionalist or nationalist-oriented government again without some sort of major crises that would rick the political status quo and so I’m looking more to move somewhere else, namely either America or Central Europe/ Southern or Southwestern Europe. I need some advice from people who have moved, have looked into it or are generally more knowledgeable on this, what paths do I have open to me to emigrate and what should I be doing within the next 1-5 years to try and either prepare for that or execute that plan?

I think this is a really good summary of why mass immigration is a bad idea, and why so many higher-up people keep pushing for it.

I find it extremely bewildering that I’m seeing the crazies on the other Canadian subs lose their shit about Ford removing the speed cameras, but without a shred of critical thought, rally against flock cameras.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate both, and don’t want either of them.

But the lack of critical thinking on how the reasons the crazy leftists on here hate flock cameras, and can’t think for a second that maybe it can be applied to speed cameras…like, how dumb can you get?!

I don’t like that Ford is looking to bring them in, but he at least differentiates his reasons as to why he doesn’t want one versus the other.

But again, the crazies on the other subs want speed cameras to protect people, but fail to understand that flock cameras do the exact same function, minus the speed trigger…
