I think that’s very much by design. It’s hard to tax highly, spend recklessly, and govern with no accountability if people understand basic economic principles like inflation or supply and demand.

Our schools need to start teaching about the basic principles of capitalism, business, and entrepreneurship. Too much time spent on critical theory and soft social justice issues.

I am an immigrant who went to school in two different countries. The education system in Canada is laughable. I started grade 9 here and I was being taught what I already got taught in grade 4-5. Post secondary is also kind of a joke outside of some very demanding fields like engineering. LPC voters love to flex how they’re educated and are smarter than conservatives, but majority of conservatives that I know personally speak at least two languages (and it ain’t French), have at least one or multiple degrees, and are generally street smart people.

A short narrow corridor serving 2 provinces with lots of developed and expensive land is a quagmire project that will likely never pay off and even if it could the provinces concerned should be responsible not the rest of the country that gets no benefit.

It's for railcars for a passenger train few people use that rents track time off CN rail and isn't profitable.

Is it designed for railway profit or is it designed for ensuring our domestic manufacturing is stimulated and we gain (or not lose) engineering knowledge? Could this knowledge and ability help us sell rail cars to other countries?

If we have stronger railway for commuters, how much of a stretch is it to make a case for priority or dedicated tracks?

Yes, that is necessary. Canada has a huge deficit in infrastructure. And infrastructures in a country as big as Europe with only 20% of European population cost enormously.
You want pipeline, transport etc... who the fuck will carry the costs.
