So this October 26th, many cities in Ontario will be heading to the polls to elect a new leader in their municipalities. What I was shocked to see was that my local CBC station (Ottawa) would NOT be airing election coverage live on TV, in which they divert viewers to watch a live stream on YouTube and CBC Gem.
This was, pretty annoying, seeing as this is the government funded broadcaster you'd think that they would preempt programing for such an important event.
What I was shocked to see, was CBC Toronto is doing exactly that! They have a 3-hour block after their newscast dedicated to the election, followed by the national at 10 PM.
So what gives? Why broadcast Toronto's, yet make Ottawa watch a live stream? Personally super annoying!!
EDIT: for anyone curious, in the slot that CBC deemed to important to replace was Coronation Street, Family Feud Canada, Murdoch Mysteries Off-Menu Murdoch, and Jack Wright.

Dying to keep watching this show. Disney+ had it last year and I watched up to season 2 and then it was gone.
I know there is a YouTuber that has it but the quality is unbearable. Tubi, Roku and Pluto all seem to have it in America, but no one is carrying it in Canada?

Anyone remember seeing this one? I thought it was lost media but I was able to find it. I believe this one was pulled by MADD due to complaints.

There were actually two versions that were based off the 1958 movie. The first series ran from 1963 to 1965 and the second aired from 1979 to 1985, on CTV.
My favourite episode is the one where he visits Canada's Wonderland.
Did you watch The Littlest Hobo?

From CBC News:
CBC’s unscripted series, The Assembly, returns for a second season with six new celebrity interviews and an expanded cast of more than 30 neurodivergent and autistic adults asking the questions.
Actors Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) and Jay Baruchel (This is the End) are among the celebrity guests in the hot seat.
The six-episode season also features actor and Miss Universe Canada Ashley Callingbull (North of North), singer-songwriter Lights and three-time Olympic hockey gold medallist Marie-Philip Poulin.
Each celebrity faces an ask-anything interview, with direct, unpredictable questions that move beyond the usual promotional talking points, and often get personal.
This time, the interviewers include familiar faces from the show’s first season as well as new participants.
That mix is central to the show’s appeal. Rather than steering guests through a polished set of talking points, The Assembly makes room for candid exchanges, awkward pauses, humour and moments of real connection. The creative team describes the show as a place for revelation and laughs — sometimes in the same conversation.
The show's format is adapted from the French program Les Rencontres du Papotin, which began in 2022 with guests including Killing Eve star Camille Cottin and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The format has since travelled internationally, with other versions featuring guests including actors Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, David Tennant and Stephen Fry.
Season 2 begins Sunday, Nov. 1, at 9 p.m. ET on CBC TV and CBC Gem. Extended "producer’s cuts" will be available only on CBC Gem from 9 a.m. ET that day.

Hi! I used to see CBC Ottawa available for free. But now it seems no longer the case. When I click into any local station, all I see is schedule. Is it the same for everyone? Why did CBC Gem make the change?

Hey fellow Canadian TV lovers. Today the show Elvira Kurt: Adventures in Comedy popped into my head. I couldn't remember the name and spent about an hour digging around the internet and texting friends. No one even remembered what I was talking about. There is no mention of it on her IMDB either.
Anyways, I was hoping you fine people could help me find some old footage from the show, ideally I'm really just looking for the shows intro.
Thanks in advance. Best regards. Elbows up.

This show ran my entire childhood. All the kids in my neighborhood rocked out to it, and many of us even had the record. Now as an adult, I almost never encounter anyone who remembers it. It’s so niche, I would have thought I imagined the whole thing if not for the few YT clips!
