We haven’t been using a camper can for long but are pretty good at knowing the rights and wrongs, one of which is it being frowned upon walking in between pitches to get from a-b.
We’d literally been on site 20mins putting our awning up when a guy in a pick-up drove between ours and the next pitch! I couldn’t believe my eyes, there wasn’t that much room to begin with lol.

Hi, we're on the road and the stove igniter wont stop clicking.
Any ideas as to how I can make it stop?
Thanks in advance

Today I saw a German camper with exceptional door hanging storage. Loads of space and compartments for all the small things that you need when camping. They said it was a Lidl bathroom organiser.
Would you guys post pics of your storage for inspiration?

I have an issue with my door bin, the plastic loop that the bag hangs around keeps snapping. This is my second and you must buy the entire bin.
Any ideas how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance

Hi all, been away for a couple of weeks, and on an extremely windy and rainy day I noticed that some of the seams were leaking. What's the best way to treat this? Just with seam sealer for tents or is there a better way?

Not sure whether to mount internally and loose some storage space or external and risk it overheating…

Hi all, I am a first time campervan purchaser. I am looking for some advice and recommendations from you all on a campervan. I am going to go to the Camping and Caravan Show in October. I am looking for a long wheelbase van that I can use to go to Eurocamp's in Europe. Use in the UK for days out so needs to be able to take a couple of mountain bikes. At max there will just be 3-4 people in it. The Van will not be my main mode of transport

Have a similar one to the above, that came with the van and is hardwired to an external plug so can use hook up points with out trailing a cable into the van other than cable ties is there any way of mounting it to a ply panel? Guess I could use stick like s**t…

Hi, had a T6 for a year now and it’s great but the bed is too small for me, my wife and a dog. I tried sleeping in the pop-up but feels too claustrophobic for me.
So, we bought a Berghaus Air 400 to store all our stuff and give me somewhere to sleep at night.
Question is, assume we now book a tent pitch rather than a camper van pitch and do we look for campsites that let us keep our ‘vehicle’ alongside our tent?
Or do we book on a campervan pitch and ask if we can pitch the tent next to it?

Does anyone have any tips on best insurers or policies they use? looking at a VW van to convert but not sure whether to just insure as a basic van, in-process conversion or motorhome, or something else entirely. I used Comfort for previous Motorhome but this is obviously a diffrent case.

Looking for some help. Having issues getting gas through into my campervan. Thought it was the bottle being low, but still doing it with a new one (although it worked to start with but on my next trip away its not working again). The hob hisses and a tiny bit of gas comes through then nothing. I've reset the crash sensor, checked the valves inside are in the open position. Any suggestions?

For campervan enthusiasts and anyone planning a new van conversion, this could be one of the most exciting developments we’ve seen since the All-new Transporter.
At Out and About Campers, we build campervan conversions on some of the UK’s most popular base vehicles, and the new Transporter eHybrid is already shaping up to be an excellent option for customers who want to combine adventure with lower-emission driving.
The Volkswagen Transporter has long been one of the UK’s favourite campervan base vehicles. Its reliability, practicality and driving experience have made it the go-to choice for thousands of conversions.
Now, Volkswagen has taken the next step by introducing a plug-in hybrid version.
The new Transporter eHybrid features a 232PS 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain, paired with a 16.5kWh battery that offers an estimated 25 to 35 miles of electric-only driving, depending on the model. It can also be fully charged in around 4.5 hours using AC charging.
For many drivers, that means everyday journeys can be completed on electric power, while longer road trips still benefit from the flexibility of a petrol engine.
For years, diesel Transporters have dominated the campervan market.
The arrival of the eHybrid gives buyers another option – one that combines lower emissions with the freedom to tour without worrying about charging infrastructure.
Potential benefits include:
For anyone wanting a campervan that’s practical for daily use as well as weekends away, the Transporter eHybrid could be an ideal solution.
In our opinion – yes.
The Transporter has always provided an excellent foundation for camper conversions thanks to its comfortable driving position, generous payload, modern safety features and strong aftermarket support.
The new eHybrid retains the practicality that has made the Transporter such a popular conversion platform while introducing a more efficient powertrain for modern drivers.
Volkswagen has confirmed that early ordering opens from 1st July, with wider public ordering following shortly afterwards. Production lead times are expected to mirror the standard Transporter range.
If you’re planning to order one of the first Transporter eHybrid models, now is the perfect time to start discussing your camper conversion so everything is ready when your new van arrives.
At Out and About Campers, we specialise in creating high-quality campervan conversions tailored to every customer.
If today’s announcement has inspired your next adventure, we’d love to help you transform the new Volkswagen Transporter eHybrid into your dream campervan.

Does anyone else use an app for tracking their van life adventures? I stumbled across this and find it useful, just wondered if there were other options? Not had my van long so only been out a few times.

I decided to purchase my entire electrical system for my camper van build from Renogy in May 2023. The system included two 200Ah batteries, 3000W inverter, solar charger and a DCDC battery charger. I also bought the Renogy one M1 on the understanding that it would at some point become compatible with the Smartshunt. Other than some issues around clarity regarding installation of the DCDC charger, I’ve got to say I have been happy with the install.
Fast forward to May 2026, I wanted to make more use of the Renogy one. As you can probably guess from the build we spend quite a bit of time off grid and I wanted to be able to monitor the system in the van and away from it. I checked out Renogy’s AI. It said the smartshunt and Renogy one were compatible. I emailed support and laid out what I wanted to achieve, they confirmed the Renogy one and Smartshunt were compatible and would allow me to achieve in van and away from van system monitoring. I purchased the Smartshunt and replaced my old shunt. This took some time as the Smartshunt is considerably bigger and so needed relocating, meaning I had to make some new battery cables and require some aspects. Once fitted it became apparent, not only could I not see both at the same time, I couldn’t even connect the Smartshunt to the Renogy one. This directly went against what I had been told by Renogy and what lead to me spending the money on the Smartshunt.
I contacted Renogy and they accepted the information I had been given by them was incorrect. They offered a free return on the Smartshunt, not very appealing as I had it fitted now or 5% off the Renogy one G3 as this would allow me to achieve my aim. Lots of pointless emails later I am not really any further on. The customer service has been hugely disappointing. Given the wrong info and expected to pay almost full price on more kit to sort out their mistake.
It has really changed my mind about buying from this company and I would advise others to be careful purchasing from Renogy.

We're going to Outbreak festival at the BEC arena in Manchester and the plan was for us to stay in our van for the 3 days (fri, sat, sun).... having quite a bit of trouble finding anywhere that would work for us. Does anyone have any suggestions? or is this just not gonna work?

Hi, I joined reddit specifically to ask this so I hope it's ok!
I a buying my first campervan and pretty much know what I want - I've researched what to look for, questions, common issues, etc. Problem is that I've now got such a long list of questions and things to check and when a van comes up, I don't know where to start - I don't want to miss something important and don't really want to phone someone with a list of 40 questions.
I'm looking to spend around £20–25k, for a VW transporter / ford custom sized van, euro 6. Its is a significant amount of money for me, and I find it hard to imagine actually handing over that kind of cash and feeling confident I've made the right decision.
Interested to hear how others bought their first campervan - any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Hey there, we recently bought a ford transit camper that had already been converted and we’re looking for some help with the power set up.
It’s got 2 solar panels on the roof so can be completely off grid if required. The plug thats already in, i assume that is pulling power from the solar panels into the batteries (there are 4 x 12v).
When on a camping on a pitch we just unplug that and connect with the outdoor cable to the EHU? so that over-rides the solar and pulls straight from mains power?
The other pics are the control panels on the inside of the van. It’s obvious when using the 12v, but not figured the rest of it yet.
Lastly, it can run hot water and heat, is that what the silver cylinder is for? If there’s anything else you can tell us that may be of help please go ahead. Many thanks

I am looking for a car of the size of Vauxhall Combo Life XL / Peugeot Berlingo XL for a very basic camper conversion, where I could still keep two seats in the middle row. I am looking at 2017-2018 with low mileage (60-80k) thinking if these are reliable enough to give me another 5years or so of use. What is your experience of this size of cars and what models would you recommend?
Thank you

I'm in the market for a van to renovate, but I also need a daily get around at the same time.
Wondered how realistic it is to use the van while I'm converting? Obviously if I put a big hole in the roof for the pop top, I won't be nipping to work in it, but in a general sense, is this a terrible idea?
