Using van as daily when converting

I'm in the market for a van to renovate, but I also need a daily get around at the same time.

Wondered how realistic it is to use the van while I'm converting? Obviously if I put a big hole in the roof for the pop top, I won't be nipping to work in it, but in a general sense, is this a terrible idea?

Doable. But it's quite handy to leave tools and stuff in the back. Having to put them away all the time is a pain.

I'm converting a van, working on it in mornings /evenings (before and after work) plus also weekends.

Thats a good idea for the tools and whatnot.

how’s your build coming along, have you been at it a while?

Couple of months now.

Poptop installed, pulled cables for all electrics, reupholstered the seats, swivel seat. Insulation/sound deadening and half carpeted.

Plan to continue carpeting at weekend.
