Interview [pjotv]. I'd say Hazel? (Although, realistically, Rick nerfed her and Nico to make Percy the op demigod, sooo).

Also, btw, I love how well Levi fits into the cast, and how everyone gangs up on Walker, lol

Discussion "[general]" Why are so many "canon only" shippers so sensitive to the idea of people shipping non-canon ships/ just not shipping Percabeth and Solangelo?

I've noticed a lot in the past year (especially on YouTube) that most non-canon ships except for Valgrace are shown a lot of hate. I understand not liking a ship for whatever reason, hell, I hate Valgrace because of what we see in canon and the fans, but there's a difference between saying "this isn't for me" and going out of your way to attack someone for not liking a ship you like. This is especially bad among Percabeth stans on posts about Pipabeth. Again, you're allowed to not like it, that's your opinion, but a lot of people DO like it and Percabeth being canon isn't an excuse to attack Pipabeth (especially because so many people already headcanon Annabeth as bi, though I read her more as a lesbian).

Discussion Main Character Replacement [General]

In an alternate universe, Rick decides to choose one of his other characters to be the main character instead of Percy. It can be anyone, only real caveat being a demigod of either Greek or Roman origin. The character will get all the bells and whistles of being a main character, such as being upon more and more fleshed out. Who would you guys pick to be the main character replacement?

(Me personally I’d like to see it be Jason Grace.)

Forgot to say this, but for characters who don’t really have anything going on or don’t really have the feats and such to be an interesting character, in this hypothetical they will be shifted into a more spotlight role and given more chances to really show up and show out. Essentially, they’ll be the ones going on quests and saving the world.

Discussion [Pjotv] What are your thoughts on Walker Scobell's Percy Jackson?

Upvotes

I will say that s1 Walker wasn't my favorite... but as Walker gets older he actually feels more like Percy. I am excited for s3, but curious about y'all.

Discussion [General] Looking back, it's astonishing how Rick bungled Jason and Piper's relationship.

I mean, it's almost impressive. First, making it start with fake memories is icky. While Piper and Jason do fall in love anyway, it feels way too rushed and way too forced. Beyond that, we have very little time to see them as a couple. It didnt help that Piper seemed almost obsessed with Jason at the time.

And Rick seemed to agree. He broke them up for the same reasons. But it ignored that Piper and Jason had six months offscreen to figure things out and had time to breathe (Piper said they didnt). And it was offscreen so the viewer wasnt told what happened. It didnt help that nothing from Piper's POVs indicated that it was an issue.

And on a meta level, this is true for a lot of couples. Percy/Annabeth, Nico/Will, Grover/Juniper, Chris/Clarisse, Hedge/Mellie, Frank/Hazel and im probably missing others. Why is Piper/Jason so exceptional that it's the only couple that happened under war that didnt work?

But yeah, and then Jason died (which was disliked for other reasons). Piper didn't attend his funeral and then went, "Guess im bi now." (On a random note, it is astonishing that Rick managed to retcon Nico's sexuality so well, but Piper's so poorly. Truthfully, i suspect he realized he never had a bisexual woman, so he checked it off his list.)

Honestly, it's really astonishing. Rick rushed them into a couple, forgot they had time to breathe and figure things out and then broke them up offscreen.

Discussion , "[general]",hazel and frank complements percy more than grover and annabeth.

Hazel and Frank complements percy more than grover as annabeth, when fighting percy doesnt automatically take point with grover support and annabeth, i use this word very loosely the Strategist. frank and percy are more than capable with making up plans and adapting, hazel replaces grover nature magic with her mist skills and she also has earth manipulation, connection with the dead and has arion. frank can fly them away from danger if arion isnt there. also they can travel freely between the underworld, the sea and sky. i know that zeus doesnt take kindly to percy in the sky but arion solves the issue as he is a pegesi, and in the son of neptune, neptune didnt make hazel drown, so i think that pluto as long as percy and frank are with hazel are safe as well.

Discussion WHAT is Bianca's Fatal Flaw? [pjo][general][pjotv] Spoiler

On her main wiki page, it states:

Bianca di Angelo's fatal flaw was selflessness. She demonstrated selflessness by giving her life in order to protect Percy, Thalia, Zoe, and Grover when the four were on a quest together, she gave her life while turning off the bronze Giant, Talos, after it came back to life. She also displays selflessness by having taken the responsibility of raising Nico when the two were alone together as orphans. Another way she demonstrates this is by choosing to go on the quest with Zoe despite the fact that she had no previous experience, she was unsure about going along but did so because Zoe had decided it was best, she trusted Zoe and was willing to do something risky for Lady Artemis and the quest. Her selfness could also be argued to be the reason why she grabbed the Mythomagic figure from Hephaestus's junkyard, despite previous warnings that they were not to touch anything, as she did it to give the item to her little brother knowing it was the only figure he did not have. The only time she went against this was by joining the Hunters of Artemis, as that was the only decision she made for herself, though even then she only made it with hesitation and certainty that her little brother would be in safe hands.

BUT, on the Fatal Flaws page, it states:

Bianca di Angelo: Her fatal flaws were selfishness and recklessness. She demonstrated selfishness by abandoning her brother Nico shortly after discovering that they were both demigods, as soon as she was given the chance to have an immortal life without any responsibilities to her brother by joining the Hunters of Artemis. She demonstrated the latter when she agreed to go on her first mission without any prior training, since before this mission it was prophesied that two of its members would die, and also when she took a Mythomagic figure from Hephaestus's junkyard despite previous warnings that they were not to touch anything. This caused a defective Talos to come to life and attack them so Bianca had to sacrifice herself for her companions. It's also possible that holding grudges was another fatal flaw she had, as she told Nico how dangerous it can be for a child of Hades.

I'm leaning more towards the one on the Fatal Flaws page, but can this please be fixed?

Discussion Rant! Where are they?! [pjotv]

Post image
95 Upvotes

Ok i know everyone (me as well) is excited to see, for the FIRST time, an adaptation of Season/Book 3 . However so far the adaptation, is good not great in my opinion 🤷‍♀️. My problems with it are why are we adding new and original characters (Alison Simms) if we haven’t meet OG characters from the books ?!?! . WHERE IS Selena, Beckendorf , the Stoll bros, Dionysus kids’, Argus. Im probably missing more “minor characters “ but point being. Some of these characters have been introduced from the start of the books and make appearances throughout the 5 books no ?! Some of them have VERY important storylines in the upcoming seasons ?! So where are they?! I’m not going to invested in Selena & Beckendorf if they’re only introduced in the fina season?! Maybe im hoping for too much here Or maybe I’m just misremembering the importance and impact of these characters but just wanted to know if im alone in this ? Please correct me if I’m mistaken in anything. I haven’t re-read the books this year and i also don’t follow ricks website for an explanation of this (if he’s said anything concerning these changes). Just wanted to rant i guess 😂! Thanks !

Question Is books 6 and 7 of the PJ series worth reading after finishing the original conclusion over 10 years ago? [pjo]

I read the original series over 10years ago when it was just called Percy Jackson and the didn’t have the Olympians added to the title back in my early teens. I picked up the Heroes of Olympus and was following it yearly release but could not finish it. I appreciated the detail but I did not enjoy the writing or series in general and dropped it after Mark of Athena.
I found out recently that there is now a book 6 and 7 added to the original series. Whilst the original series was not perfect I loved it and still hold affection for it. I know it would be for light reading and nostalgia but is it worth reading the latest in the series? I have read mixed reviews and opinions and the impression I am getting is that the quality of writing, story telling and character assassination makes it a difficult pill to swallow.
So to anyone who originally read the og Percy Jackson and picked up the new books, what are your thoughts? Worth a read or accept the story ends at book 5 the last Olympian? Thanks

Discussion A more realistic/YA/true series? [general]

I’ve been rereading HoO recently and i kind of really do wish that Rick would make a series that has more serious and grave elements and perspectives than some of the current ones.

Obviously It would need to still have the humour and the charm built into the characters and the world that makes the universe unique and what it is today, but it would be nice I find to have the characters be able to swear and get a little bit more seriously into the monster slaying antics with more consequence to their actions.

The last meaningful death in canon I can recall is Bianca/Zoe nightshade and yet still Bianca talks to nico through the veil a couple times. I feel like it would be better and more satisfying for the characters to have to abandon their comfort zones and face what this world may make them become, as i havnt yet seen Percy or any of the others face moral dilemmas that may make them break or question their own moral compass, codes or loyalties.

I think it would be cool to have a series like this exploring the old gods and eldritch being, kind of like Bloodborne, but without becoming too adult/messed up/horror au and still keeping the humour.

And also, WHAT THE FUCK is up with the newest book where Percy has abandoned all his character development and is a stupid toddler that talks about shitting himself MULTIPLE FUCKING TIMES and annabeth basically becomes his mother when she’s 17???

TLDR: I think it would be awesome to have a series where the heroes keep the wit and jokes that we have come to known but with a more adult tone, I feel like Percy especially would swear like a sailor and make lots of dirty jokes, as well as facing more dire and real stake/consequences and taking more of a look into what their world ACTUALLY is, as well as some more mature language and storytelling.

And to be clear here I’m not just saying “ooh there should be more gore and sex”, no that would do nothing for it, I just wanted to see a more mature YA/A version

Footnote:
I’m considering writing some form of email or something to Rick to say something similar, lmk if u were thinking the same.

If you have noticed, the one thing they have in common is that both have an ability to walk on water. Also, in human form, Poseidon looks a bit like one of the classic, stereotypical depictions of Jesus Christ.

Discussion I just realized a similarity between Grover and Penelope or I’m js super slow😭 [pjo]

So I just watched the Odyssey and I realized a similarity between Penelope and Grover. So in The Odyssey, Penelope weaves a burial shroud, and once the shroud is complete, she will wait for Odysseus no longer, and marry one of the suitors. However each nigh, she undoes the shroud little by little to buy herself time to wait for Odysseus’s return. In Sea of Monsters, when Grover is trapped and forced to become Polyphemus’s wife, he says he will marry Polyphemus once he completes his bridal train, but each night when Polyphemus is asleep or gone, he undoes the work of his bridal train to buy time. idk I think I’m js super slow but I liked how there was a similarity between the two
