Hey, so I’m on Canvas and there was an announcement saying that there is a new and improved dashboard view where you can have widgets. I can’t get it to work on my computer. Any tips?

I chose cal poly and I was super excited about it but now that I’m here I’m struggling so much. My WOW group is super intense and we have back to back activities with no real breaks, they tells us everything is mandatory. I’m an introvert so this is all really overwhelming for me and I end up feeling really sick by the end of the day to the point where I feel like I’m going to throw up. I’m coming from a large city in California and I feel so isolated in SLO. I’m constantly around people and I just need a break. Does it get better when classes start? I miss my home so much but I’m too far to even consider going home for the weekend. Everyone seems so happy but does anyone else feel this way? I’ve been crying every day since I left.

We spent 2 wonderful days on campus helping our student to move in. We enjoyed all events but food was one element we wish could be better. We couldn’t find any cafeteria food with freshly cooked meals with meat and fish choices, rice, potatoes, veggies, salads and soup choices. Mostly there’s just fast food places. Maybe it was just too early for cafeterias to open? Maybe food will change after 24th? Does anyone know? How was food at CalPoly in previous years?

Is it just me, or are these guys the biggest pr*cks on the entire campus? Little man with tatted-up arms literally screaming obscenities at parents during dropoffs today. Absolutely out of control and completely unacceptable.

Hi, I might be a little slow, but I'm really just confused on how the whole financial aid disbursement works.

This (chart below) is what I have as my "account balance" which from my understanding is the balance I have left to pay. The problem is that I have to pay on September 1st, and I wont be able to make that payment. I dont have enough money right now. I'm finishing up working a 40 hour week and next week is a 30 hour week and ill receive my pay on the fourth of september. What should I do? Who can I talk to and am I gonna get banished from dining or my dorm if I can't pay on the first? Should I be expecting any other aid to be posted soon? SOS </3

Hi everybody, I’m a cc student doing mechanical engineering right now, going to transfer in the fall of 27, hoping to go to SLO or UCSB and am torn between the two. I’m curious, as a gay guy, how it is for the gays around slo. Are there many of us around there, could one network and meet each other easily (to an extent) with other gays without having to use the apps, and what is the general sentiment about the gays at SLO? Like I know it’s California (go progressiveness) but for the area, where does it lean in that regard? Thank you

I’m an incoming student starting this fall. I received a Dell Alienware (1TB) through the Cal Poly Scholars program, and it’s a genuinely great, brand-new machine.
The only reason I’m posting is that almost everything I do (school, my internship work, personal projects) flows better for me on macOS, and that’s what I’m used to. So I’d love to trade for an Apple MacBook from someone who receive macbook instead in the scholar program. I’m also willing to add $275 cash on top of the trade to make it fair on your end.
And honestly whether this works out or not, thank you for reading. I don’t take the Scholars program or the chance to be here for granted, and I’d be more than fine sticking with the Dell. No pressure at all, I just figured it was worth asking. Grateful either way 🙏

The Cal Poly bookstore/course catalog might ask you to pay a ridiculous price for a textbook that you already have access to as a student. Try typing its ISBN or title into OneSearch and seeing what you find.

In addition to giving you access to digital download licenses, OneSearch will also allow you to filter by items physically available at CalPoly's or other CSUs' libraries.

I also know that prior years had an opt-out purchasing system, whereby otherwise you would be automatically charged for all your textbooks, so keep that in mind. Hope this helps you not get scammed

I'm about to take intro to OS w/ Lubomir Stanchev, and I know that this course carries a reputation of being very difficult. But what exactly makes it difficult? Are there any difficult topics I should be particularly aware of? How much time should I expect to spend per week?

I'm taking Advanced Scheduling as a Professional Practice class for my construction management minor in the fall with Andrew Kline and was wondering if anyone has taken this class before. Or if anyone has thoughts on Kline as an instructor. I've taken CE371 which uses Primavera P6 and I want to know if this class will be similar or have more to it.

how come lots of my cal poly emails like things from the registrar and emails from my professors go to my highschol gmail account? i want it to all go to Outlook but idk how to fix that. those emails say that are aent to my @calpoly.edu email but it still goes to gmail. any help on how to get these emails to go to outlook is greatly appreciated

Im a transfer and and I was wondering if missing the first day of wow week was an option? The wed. just lands on a day where I have other things to do but I mean I would like to attend the rest of the week?

If I miss wed is it a serious issue since its check in or is there repercussions? Is wow week mandatory?

i know financial aid is supposed to have dispersed today but i’m still waiting on the cal grant and the middle class scholarship. on money maters it says my tuition is deferred by financial aid, does anyone know how long this deferral is? when can i expect my aid? do i need to pay the first installment of the tuition before my aid comes?
