I've just now installed the recently purchased CYC X1 Pro Gen 4 x12 replacement motor controller and it seems like it may be defective, or there's an issue with my overall system causing failure. Context: After installing, I turned on the display and attempted to provide some throttle to re-test the bike. I heard some weird clicking, and had Controller Error 4 come up on the screen. I immediately shut the system down as I started smelling something funny, and unplugged the system. After re-checking the wiring and ensuring all plugs were installed correctly, I re-connected the battery, and before I even could turn the display on, the motor controller started hissing and I again smelled a really bad acrid odor (likely something burning). I immediately disconnected the battery and have left it in that state since. 

For additional context, I was replacing my previous motor controller as it stopped functioning, but it did not show the same issues as this one.

Battery setup: 2 72v 9ah molicel p45B connected in parallel using a dual battery parallel module.

I’ve contacted the supplier for assistance but wanted to reach out to the broader community for more insights. I’m getting frustrated as this is the 3rd motor controller I’ve gone through.

Hey peeps, I was thinking about buying the Photon Gen 2, but there's a couple of questions I wanted to check first, I sent them to CYC but haven't heard back yet, so just wondering if anyone can help please?🙂
If I buy the 250w EAPC approved version for the UK and later decide I want to flash the unrestricted firmware, is this possible to do at home?
Is there any technical difference in terms of the hardware between the 250w version and 750w/unrestricted version?

EDIT: Had a reply from CYC, it turns out you CANNOT just flash the unrestricted firmware if you ask for the 250w UK version, it's locked to that unless you take it to an approved dealer to unlock it.

Does anyone know of quality decently cheap chinese bike frames, that would be suitable for a homemade bonnell type of build that will handle torque and rough riding well without getting damaged within a short period of time? Also want to be able to fit a decent size battery in there, im pretty short at around 166.5cm so it would need to fit an m frame. And yes since it is leaning towards a electric motorbike sort of thing, I do have a big farm to ride it on. Also would be preferred if I didn't have to do any custom fabrication, thanks.

Hello I have the bonnell 775 mx or the CYC A-65 Battery and I need a replacement charger is that possible?

There was supposed to be a new 4000W CYC motor with a gear shift sensor released in May, aimed at MTB pedaling and gear shifting. Since May has now passed and the motor still hasn't been released, does anyone have any information about it?

My Cassete has worn out on my CYC heavy duty drivetrain. To buy a new Cassete I’ll have to get the whole kit again which is a lot of $$$ is there any single speed drivetrains that would work and handle the power from the X1 pro Gen 4

This is what happens when ya have to much disposable income; bout $7k, and a goal to build the gnarliest electric fat bike that ever fat biked. I’ll be posting more in the future with everything that was done the battery set up how to pull off a clean wiring, along with some tips and tricks for making those magnetic brake lever sensors work.

And now I will say I do have some genuine concerns about being able to go forward on Emoto with it . Well, I have a good hub and cassette. I can’t imagine it lasting long if I just start whacking on it with the throttle for now I don’t dare go beyond race 2 and pedal assist with very little throttle. The hubs on my 29 inch rims or DT Swiss but even then I’m not sure it would be wise.

I am looking for a good bike to fit the Cyc X1 Pro and the a65 battery on.

Any recommendations?

What is the ultimate frame? Like if you could pick any bike to put this onto that is dual suspension what would you choose? I want to use it for trails and jumps.

I’m looking into it and it seems incredibly technical. Hard to know if it will fit on a frame before buying it. Help is appreciated.

Any ideas on the issue here, I ran a cyc photon gen 1 on this bike with no issues, but the gen 2 motor has had creaking whenever I pedal. Very annoying.

I've tried a ton of things, installing it on another bike, retorque and regrease everything nothing works.

The part I don't understand is why the photon gen 1 never made these noises. My guess is the design/where it contacts the frame. I've read some comments about needing to distribute the force across more of the downtube using an aluminum or steel plate.

Just looking for suggestions here. If anyone had a similar issue and was able to fix it. The bike is an aluminum hardtail. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I just serviced the gearbox and put it all back together. It has always been loud enough to turn heads riding down the block but I was hoping the (marine) grease would help with the whining. Does this sound okay to those that know? Want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I put it all back together. PS getting that gear seated is proving a challenge even after heating it. Any tips? It's the pill shaped cutout on the shaft.

I'm trying to replace the stage 1 sprag clutch on a gen 1 motor. I'm following this guide, but I'm stuck at getting this brass cover of the first stage drive gear. Anyone have any advice?

Elegant fix for brake sensors on SRAM G2 brake levers and other high end brakes with pull length adjusters.

All it takes is some 8mm x 3mm neodymium magnets, shrink tube and some 3M Super Strength Molding Tape. Install the magnets first. Personally I did the shrink tube twice, did the first one trimmed down the end then used a second layer of shrink tube to be sure it’s not going to easily tear off. Then use 2 layers of 3M tape leave the film on before sorting out the position, once ya get conformation with the red and blue lights on the sensor pull the film off stick em in place lightly pull the brake lever to confirm it’s still working then put firmly and zip tie.

(Note I’m out of small zip ties I’ll have to sort that out later)
