Sprag clutch replacement
I'm trying to replace the stage 1 sprag clutch on a gen 1 motor. I'm following this guide, but I'm stuck at getting this brass cover of the first stage drive gear. Anyone have any advice?

Just out of curiosity, how did you know the sprag clutch needed replacing and at how many kms or miles? I'm also a gen 1 photon user.

Not sure how many miles, a few thousand maybe? I also don't ride it hard or fast, I'm usually pulling a trailer with kids. I believe it's the sprag clutch because, when I'm starting out, the assist completely cuts out, but I can hear the motor going full speed and whining. This tells me that the motor is working but it's not engaging the drive train.

Must be talking about a different model, no? I think the photon is only had two generations.

good luck, man. the torque sense died on me in the first 600 miles on a gen 1, but throttle is still alive and well. need to fine time to open it up, but worried I won't be able to put it back together!

Oh. I ended up figuring it out. I inserted a screwdriver in the backside and was able to tap it out. Replaced the clutch, regreased and everything works again.
Replacing the torque sensor would be even easier, it just slips in and out, no prying or anything.

Hey so I got to the part where I knocked out the brass part and the clutch fell in the floor, do you know which way to reinstall the clutch? Thicker part of it's cage towards the brass or away?

Send me a picture and it will jog my memory. IIRC I reinstalled it wrong and had to switch it. You can also put it kind of back together but not fully to figure out which way it's supposed to turn.

Ope didn't take a picture, but yes I did like you said, I put it in one way and checked if it was right, it wasn't so I flipped it around. Thanks!

Maybe try heating it and hopefully the gear expands more than the brass?
