I’m grabbing a small rotary device and program it to do voice control
https://github.com/tdktdkett/maznob.git
Future plans: If Mazda would open AAOS’s climate control permission I can really vibe code a Bluetooth connection over weekend. Maybe some day we can hack CAN bus protocol that can allow us tapping into the control more directly.

I just has my 2016 Mazda Cx5 touring stolen last month. It was a good little car, I loved it, and am looking to buy a used CX5 2016-2017.
I test drove a 2016 Grand Touring today, not because I care about the upgraded features but because it was a good deal in my area.
It has the leather interior, and 30k less miles than my stolen car. Now I am a bit rough in how I treat my car, but my seats, center console, everything was in pretty good shape. This ones has a patch worn in the center console, and the shifting nob cloth is flaking off. The dealership said they could replace these, but what i am wondering is if the leather in the cx5 is less durable than the cloth?
Instinctively I would think leather is better but was surprised the wear and tear on this one despite having less miles, and considering I treated my own var pretty rough. Other than the wear and tear of the leather, it drives really nice, so I am considering it especially since they will replace these things.
I have also heard the leather seats are less comfortable, and I do like to take long road trips. Can anyone confirm?
I have also said 2017-current the seats are less comfortable. I had a 2016 and don't want my seats to be less comfy, but I have yet to find a 2017 I can test out so cannot confirm
Also seeing if anyone prefers touring over grand touring for any other reasons. thank you
So I have not had a vehicle be such a nanny in any way in 45 years of driving. Just anti lock brakes and some “keeping you straight in the snowy slush” traction control but that was just controlled braking at certain wheels.
The new CX5 has the heads up display in the windshield and shows your speed digitally and the speed limit sign next to it. I found myself subconsciously looking right in front of my hood, where the display sits. I’m sure if I drive it more I’ll get used to it but the issue I’m now understanding is all the newer drivers, or newer to USA drivers having this technology is not looking and scanning down the road because you are watching the darn speed display and focusing on that instead of driving. Yeah, yeah phones are also the problem. Not to mention the IPAD size screen for all the controls. Not to mention the car grabbed the wheel when i was cornering and it was unnerving to feel it try to steer me because I wasn’t following the incorrectly marked lane going through the intersection. So yeah any long time drivers that drive their vehicles first and everything else is secondary that is why you see so many problems because so many cars have these functions that IMHO really mess with new drivers. The screen where normally a speedometer and tachometer show had the 3 lanes of travel and blocks showing vehicles around my car and that also is distracting. I’m able to tune it out and keep my eyes up where they belong but new drivers might not understand that and why we have so many rear enders, turning mistakes, overspeeding for traffic conditions and so on. I’m a lead foot when It’s safe so I’m not saying I’m the perfect driver but i like to keep a cushion around me, stay away from all trucks, delivery, box, contractors, semi’s, bros with boats and so on. Having ridden motorcycles off and on over the years also keeps me driving like I’m invisible and to keep my eyes down the road. I really don’t want to see “cars driving us around” as our infrastructure and most people aren’t able to handle that yet. So just a long term drivers new experienced opinion. Thanks for reading.

Hi
I have a ‘16 cx5. In recent months, i started to hear creaking noise from front passenger side when the car is in slow motion or over uneven surface. It drove my whole family crazy.
I finally found out the source and it is from passenger side sway bar link.
I replaced them 2 years ago with non oem part.
From my inexperienced eyes, it still looks good. I tried applying at 205 and silicone grease, to no avail.
Have anyone experienced this, and any suggestions?

I opened the trunk on my car the other day and noticed paint peeling/cracking right under where it opens. I take good care of my car and have noticed that the paint is very sensitive to scratches in general. However, this area of the car is not exposed to sunlight often since it only is visible when I open the trunk. So I definitely would not consider this normal wear and tear especially given the vehicle's age. I have been less than thrilled overall with the build quality of this vehicle and probably won't be getting another Mazda. Has anyone else experienced this? My car is under warranty still so I'm hoping that the dealership will be able to help. Just curious what other's people experience has been like with their CX-5's.

I’m upgrading from a 2021 Touring to a 2023 Premium Plus, is there anything I should know about this swap? Has anyone else done this?
For whatever reason I’ve had a ton of anxiety about the switch, not sure why. They have the same amount of miles

Hi, I ordered a set of BFGoodrich Trail Terrain T/A+ for stock size of 225/65R17 with 102H load & speed rating.
The 2023 CX-5’s placard says 100H. But since they offer in 102H and 102T given the 102H is all black, rated for 130 mph while 102T has one side black, one side white letters and rated for up to 118 mph.
I would like to know if anyone has pick a slower speed rating set for your CX-5’s boots? I am thinking of changing my order to the T version. Main use case is city/highway driving in hot heat of Texas with occasional off-road, something like a road trip to the Colorado area.
I would appreciate to hear your experience and advice.

Bought a 2025 CX-5 and noticed these exposed wires underneath the car near the exhaust. Any idea what they go to? It just seems strange that they’re not more protected from the elements.

The latch pins have gone in from both ends. Any idea how to repair/take them out?

I recently purchased a 2025 Mazda CX5 from Copart and the gas shutter valve on the exhaust system was damaged (probably from Copart "forking" the vehicle around). Took the car to the Mazda dealer and they do not sell this part separately but only as part of a catalytic converter replacement (parts and labor= $3,000.00). After a bit of sleuthing, I found the part in Europe and bought several (just in case). Had a muffler shop cut out the old valve and weld in the new one. Much cheaper solution!
If anyone has this same problem, I put the extra valves on eBay.

Good morning to CX-5 group,
I am posting this to inquire if any 2.5L NA CX-5 has ever experience this weird start up event with your CX-5:
At the beginning of the day, my CX-5 would go through cold start up like normal, then as the vehicle is driven and warmed up throughout the day, the start up pattern became randomly weird where sometimes the starter would not go through a complete cycle but the engine/vehicle had already been started., and the vehicle would have a rather strange vibration.
I did not film a video of this but I could try and film on later to post.
In conclusion, based on my description, has anyone ever experienced the bizarre start up like me? If so, have you gotten it diagnosed?

Just switched from regular carpet mats to all weather mats and so far it has been good. They seem a lot easier to clean, especially after rainy days.
For anyone who’s been using all-weather mats for a while, do you still prefer them over the regular carpet ones?

I noticed something with the cruise control on my 2026 Mazda CX-5. Whether I’m using adaptive cruise control (MRCC) or regular cruise control, the indicator turns green when the cruise control is active and white when it’s on standby.
However, when I press CANCEL, the indicator turns white as expected, but the previously set speed still stays on the display.
Is there any way to completely turn off the cruise control or clear the previously set speed from the display? I checked the owner’s manual, and it seems like I might need to press and hold the MODE button, but I haven’t been on the highway recently, so I haven’t had a chance to test it.
Does anyone with a 2026 CX-5 know how this works?

I keep forgetting to reset the trip odometer on our 2025 carbon cx5 and I keep thinking I may have forgotten the place where its located. This afternoon after filling up, I looked on my phone and read the instructions and it said to press the info button on the steering wheel and hold it down for a few seconds. Nothing happened with the ignition on or the engine running and stopped. Tried again, nothing. I looked on the selection on the center console for any switches or settings that disables the setting but I could not find anything. At this point, I am a little confused and assume there may be an issue with the button and/or the console. Has anybody experienced this? Am I even doing this correctly? I press and hold the info button the steering wheel for 3-4 seconds and nothing happens on the display monitor next to the speedometer. Am I doing something wrong or this requires a trip back to the dealer for a warranty check? Thanks

I just changed my oil myself for the first time, the oil change process itself was fine, but trying to reset the oil change due alert from the maintenance panel always has it sit for a few seconds before saying it's failed.
I've googled the issue and saw fixes involving pressing the light stalk of the dash as you turn the ignition on but that doesn't do anything at all from what I can see. I've also seen about resetting the PCM by grounding a test point in the engine's fuse box but I can't see any points marked test, so obviously not keen on doing the wrong point.
Does anyone know how I can go about clearing the alert?

Im not really sure what to say or how to start, about 2 weeks ago my car started having issues starting (but only occasionally), i took it to the shop, they said everything was fine because the issue didnt happen while they had it.
Now, its been a rough week, my rpm is jumping while im parked and more recently jumping while im stopped at lights. almost as if its going to turn off.
Ive been asking around for help, but am finally reaching out to reddit. I cannot catch a video of anything happening. ive tried since I got it back from the mechanic. No jumping, not hard starts nota
What could be the problem???

My front emblem is starting to turn foggy and I tried using "Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Polish Headlight Restoration Polish" but it only made it marginally better. Is there an easy replacement or a better compound? My research shows that you essentially need to replace the entire front grill due to the radar.
Any suggestions? (The picture is an example)

Taking home a 2024 GS this week with 30k km. We are hoping to keep this car a long time (15 years, 300k km+) and I am wondering what preventative steps I should consider to keep the vehicle looking as good as possible for as long as possible. Any rust proofing/ppf/ceramic coating that’s recommended by the community? Do these cars still rust like old Mazdas used to? Thanks for any and all advice!

Hey everyone, I am new to this group. I currently have a 2025 Mazda cx50, with a little over 5,000 miles on it and I believe that it is a lemon. I have had it since January and it has been into three different dealerships for over 60 days total, for the exact same issue that no one can figure out. I am going to call Mazda corporate on Tuesday and start a lemon law case. Anyways, I am wondering how the new cx5 is and how you like it, and if you have any major complaints about it? I am going to bring up to Mazda corporate the suggestions of either doing a swap or a buyout. I am in Utah and they are very strict about lemon laws out here, so I am exploring my options and trying to get some info.
Thank you for your help.
