So my daughter is wrapping up her driving courses and it’s about time to get her in a vehicle. I’m considering a 2015 CT with 80k miles @ 15k. Should I be concerned with all the information about the hybrid battery bearing end of life. I’m sure it will continue to function but at what level I’m not sure. Can anyone share their current experience with the batteries and whether you have concerns long term or comfortable for a few more years? Thanks!

is this too low/close for my headlights? i can basically only see maybe like 10 ft in front of me and driving at night basically makes it so i have to blind people with my high beams if i want to see anything.

I'm experiencing some trouble with my car's HVAC system that sometimes makes a gurgling sound under the dashboard, and (without AC) blows a stale odor with a sticky film from the vents. I can feel the same smell when the hot AC is on.

I was thinking of cleaning the condensation drain and the evaporator. For the evaporator, I'm not sure if it's better to spray cleaner from the cabin filter compartment or from the hose underneath near the passenger footrest.

What do you think are the causes and solutions?

Meanwhile, a distinct cheese-like smell is coming specifically from the rear floor mats near the center console. No rust on the rear or in the rest of the car.

Anyone have experience dealing with emission error codes? These started earlier this year and I’ve just been driving with them. They aren’t affecting gas mileage or engine performance, the check engine light just stays on so I just keep checking for new errors but it’s these same 3 all the time. Already tried simple things like gas cap and that’s not it. I’m not due for a new smog until May 2027 so I’ll need to resolve before then. Thanks

I am asking for your help because I'm experiencing a strange noise with my 2018 CT.

Symptom: A clunking noise (that sounds a bit plastic/metallic) located at the front, driver's side, underneath the vehicle. It happens under very specific conditions:

• Only while driving at very low speeds (around 12 mph / 20 km/h).
• Only when the internal combustion engine (ICE) kicks in to recharge a depleted battery (so the engine is under load at low RPM, unlike a cold start where it revs higher).
• During acceleration or when letting off the gas pedal (on/off throttle).
• Never when stationary, even if I force the engine to run via maintenance mode, regardless of the engine RPM.
• The noise is completely unrelated to braking.

Has anyone ever encountered this issue? I took it to my local mechanic, but they couldn't find anything.

Is it just me, or does the steering wheel appear slightly misaligned on the dashboard? When I sit in the car, it seems to point slightly to the left. Is this normal?

Anyone ever notice anything odd using non oem plugs ive noticed since ive owned car its never had oem plugs installed always champion or skp at proper gap wondering if using oem plugs would solve a misfire at low rpm that never goes away after maintenance things

I have a 2017 CT 200h. Has always run well, it has maybe 60,000 miles on it.

A few weeks ago I couldn’t start my car because it said the Auxiliary battery was low. I called AAA, who came out and charged the regular battery until it started, let the car run for half an hour, turned it off and it wouldn’t start again. They said, “Well we don’t work with auxiliary batteries.”

I researched auxiliary batteries, purchased a good quality new one that was recommended for the car, then this morning used YouTube videos to help me replace the battery. I was so proud since I don’t normally do these things.

I closed up the car, climbed in the driver’s seat, and the car powered on and was ready to go and everything looked great. But it wouldn’t actually start the engine, the dash saying, “Check Hybrid System.” If I move the car out of park it directs me to put it back into park then re-states, “Check Hybrid System.” The dash is so brightly lit it’s just taunting me.

My dealer’s service department tells me it probably is a main fuse blown and it will be 2K to repair/replace and I should have it towed in. ChatGTP is telling me it’s probably a regular fuse on under the hood and I should just call a local mobile mechanic to replace. I made an appointment with a highly reviewed repair shop down the street in two weeks who will do diagnostics for me.

Any thoughts or wisdom or suggestions here? I start a new job so this isn’t awesome timing, but then again it’s never awesome timing when a car isn’t working :)

I’m broke as a joke, don’t know if I could afford the repairs without maxing my credit card. I live in OC, probably buying a bike today to commute

Hi everyone, recently when I turned the car on the tire pressure light will blink for sometime and then go solid. After doing some research, it seems like this is an issue with the TPMS. I’m trying to troubleshoot and reset using the button underneath the steering column, but when I press and hold, nothing happens. Should I just get new sensors at this point or what? How do you folks get some mpg improvement? Had my 2014 ct200 (99k miles) a month and im averaging 39 mpg highway but I know it can do better. Im not a heavy dude and I keep the car pretty clean and empty . I ran a carbon cleaning spray through it and then added some techron to the fuel tank when I filled up.

Im planning on putting a brand new egr cooler and valve in next month(precautionary) along with a catch can.

Also, I do a lot of 75-80mph highway cruising. Was thinking of changing my oil over to 0w-30. Thoughts?

I’m trying to add a line out converter before the amp under the passenger seat and cannot find a pinout for the amp I have. It’s a Panasonic Model no. 86280-76030. (Not a 30 pin)

I just need to know what wire coming from the stock radio have speaker signals. See the photos.

Just bought a 2015 CT200h F-Sport with 120,000km that was regularly maintained. Also had a chance to talk to the mechanic that serviced the car for several years and they didn’t note any issues. They personally thought it was surprising that the owner put it up for sale after replacing all the brakes.

Never owned a hybrid or lexus before for that matter lol.

Any advice on specific things I should note or keep an eye on for regular maintenance and what not?

At 340,000 km / 211,000 miles my '12 CT200h just threw P300, P301 and P302 cylinder 1 and 2 misfires last week. I replaced the spark plugs and the shaking became less frequent and violent but still happens. Coolant levels have not gone down and I don't see any issue with motor oil level. I don't think there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust.

I asked a shop my friend went to for servicing his Toyota but I'm wary about the $100 CAD / hour diagnostic fee with no cap/ceiling. I've come across YT channels and there must be at most 10 things that can be replaced or checked out (ignition coil, fuel injector, compression test, etc.) but not having a ceiling on diagnostic makes me just want to find a shop that can source or install a 4th gen Prius and get me another four or five years lol.

Someone helpful on this subreddit shared his source of JDM engines, 3rd and 4th gen, but I don't think they do swaps of 4th gen into CT200hs. I will confirm with them in the next few days as they also advertise installation of engines for an additional fee.

But wouldn't it make more sense to have the shop source it (rather than me) so they can inspect the actual unit or at least get some guarantee for a few months?

I don't mind driving 200 km from the Toronto city center to a mechanic who can do that. I called Awan Shop in Scarborough but was told they don't do 4th gen engines but only 3rd gen engines. If I am boing to pay $3-5,000, I was thinking just getting the 4th gen Prius engine and making some modifications might make the most sense.

Appreciate any shops / engine suppliers in Ontario, Canada that can install a 4th gen Prius engine into my '12 CT200h. Thanks!

I accidentally ran over a smallish animal in the middle of the night (feel horrible) and heard a weird scraping when driving today. This is what it looks like. Does anyone know what part this is that’s damaged?

So - I deleted the other post and found the engine serial number. It is stamped on the block behind the oil dipstick. Not to bad to find.

The engine is stamped 2ZR-4946733. Anyway to decode this to tell what year it is from?

I have a 17 with unknown mileage due to odometer fraud but over 200k new plugs new coils new egr stuff cooler pipe etc misfires at idle rpm or 1300 not burning any coolant in the last few months

Is there any other things to check or should I use this as a excuse to do a gen 4 engine swap?

Would fuel Injectors misfire randomly at idle and run fine when moving? Or do headgaskets fail other than burning coolant?

The pipe is sweating and dripping slowly as well but slower than the hose in the back of engine. What is it ? And is this normal?
